Capt. Wilfred (Dean) Ellis is the 11th employee of the Florida prison system to be placed on leave amid a criminal investigation of the possible excessive use of force in incidents involving six different inmates, one of whom died in state custody.
Ellis, of Alachua, is approaching his 25th anniversary as a DOC employee, but prison officials placed him on paid leave "pending investigation of charges which could result in your dismissal."
Ellis' annual salary is $50,398.
