From a press release:
Miami, FL — Today, at 7:30 p.m., Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL-24) will be joined, at a forum on immigration reform, by Congressional leaders, from across the nation, who are fighting for change and who will influence, shape and vote on new immigration laws. Congresswoman Wilson urges the thousands of undocumented immigrants living in the shadows in South Florida and the thousands of immigrants waiting and hoping to one day take part in the American dream to attend.
Taking part in the discussion, along with Congresswoman Wilson are Congressional colleagues, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (IL-4), Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), Rep. Yvette Clarke (NY-9), and Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33). The program will be moderated by Ediberto Roman, Professor of Law at Florida International University.
“It’s fitting that we’re having this major policy event in Miami—one of the most diverse, immigrant-rich cities in the world. Our current immigration system is broken. But we are fighting to fix it. Through this forum, people in our community will hear from and speak directly to the Members of Congress who are leading this charge.”
The event will be held at the Haitian Evangelical Church, led by Pastor David Eugene, in North Miami.
It is free and open to the public. All immigrants, regardless of status, are welcome.
