U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia took issue with a Miami Herald post Tuesday that suggested he was distancing himself from unpopular President Barack Obama.
The post noted Garcia's campaign had made a point of saying the Miami Democrat opposed the Obama administration's proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage. Garcia also expressed disappointment on the House floor when Obama delayed executive action on immigration reform.
"I'm not running from anybody," Garcia said in an interview late Tuesday.
"I have disagreements with the president" on key issues for the 26th congressional district, the congressman added. "And unlike other people, I'll be in a room with him and tell him I disagree."
