Florida Lottery secretary to resign June 2

After just 18 months being in charge of the Florida Lottery, Secretary Tom Delacenserie is leaving his job.

Delacenserie is resigning his post effective June 2, Gov. Rick Scott's office announced Friday.

Scott appointed Delacenserie to head the Florida Lottery in November 2015. Before then, Delacenserie had for two years been the deputy secretary of sales and marketing. He began working for the Florida Lottery in 2000.

"Tom has done a great job, and under his leadership, the Lottery has seen record sales and made historic contributions to Florida’s education system," Scott said in a statement. "Tom has been a valued member of my team since the start of my administration and I am proud of the great work he has done for Florida’s students. I wish Tom and his family the very best in their future endeavors.”

Scott's office said announcements about agency leadership will be made at a later date.
