Party time

Tomorrow is my day off (note day: singular) and we just happen to have a real star visiting us in Miami, none other than Ms. Susan Hopkins herself. Believe me, the drink is going to be flowing. (She's said she'll pay my tab, but I can't allow that. (Can I?))

We are going to the beach to Karaoke until Ronny kicks us out. With domestic beer something like $8, I'm definitely bringing a flask.

As my month-long blog nears its end (it will end on the 5th), I'm a little excited. First, because I'm deeply curious of exactly how I'll re-acclimate to a less stringent spending diet. Will I just dive right back in? Would that be dangerous to my health? Could I even if I tried?

Ba2_2But also because a couple friends of mine are going to be taking over the No-Spend beat for a little bit. That's them to the left: Alice (in Wonderland) and the Mad Hatter (Bridget and Amanda, respectively). They've just moved in together. If I recall correctly, Carroll's Alice and Hatter seemed to suffer from chronic communication problems. Will our real-life roommates better manage their interpersonal relations? It remains to be seen.

I'm not quite done yet. And I will be back at some later date. But I hope that you will get to know Bridget and Amanda when they join us in a few days.

It'll be hard to follow you. I don't think I have what it takes to buy stained clothes at a thrift store, and I don't think I can manage to save gas by trying not to break as often.

I don't know if you should allow her to pay your tab, unless she treats you to just one drink as a friend. And if you've ever paid for her drinks in the past, then this would just be calling it even.

It's a double standard for women, because it's customary for guys to buy us drinks. I always like to throw my card out first, but if the guy says he'll pay, then I won't fight it. But then to be fair I'll buy the second round without them knowing. I guess to save money, I'm going to just have to either drink less, or do more eye batting for guys to pick up the bill. The latter doesn't seem as fair, but is all fair in love and thrifting?

Thanks for the mention! I'm always excited to make fun of Bridget in a public forum.

As far as the drinks go, if she invited you out (and if she's notably wealthier than you) I wouldn't worry about it - feel yourself liberated from masculine ideals and let a chick pick up the bill.

re Bridget: Just watch and learn, kid. With my help, you will learn to overcome to fears of "societal norms" and "inadequate hygiene." And the world will be a better place.

re Amanda: You misunderstand: I have long been free of and and all masculine ideals. If a girl wants to pay, I'd call her a good friend. Lord knows I've pay my share for the fairer sex. I've got no problem taking some in return.

woah! Thanks for the link, Brayden. Your blog's been on my reader and i'm loving it, by the way. And i have an ING account and it's the greatest thing ever, so there's one more person to tout its legitimacy and aweseomitude. Anyway...let Soos buy you a drink. She's happy to see you.

Bottom line, if you're invited out, the person who does the inviting picks up the tab (that goes for malos and females)....if you're riddled with guilt the following day, next time YOU do the inviting and reciprocate!!!
