Job Hunting: It's My Job
Sometimes it seems like everyone I know has been laid off.
New York seems to be the destination of choice. It's nice being with the majority for once.
If I have to compete for a job -- and I do -- I'd rather it be with someone I know. That way, if they get the job instead, I'm totally justified in mooching off of them.
I'm leaving for the Big Apple in two short weeks. When I get there, I'm going to work at finding a job like its my job. That means a regular schedule: Wake up at the reasonable hour of 11. Shower. Breakfast. Regimented tasks. Send out X-many applications. Take a lunch break. That kind of stuff.
Routine is the key. For maximum output, and to reduce the probability of becoming burnt out, it's important to treat the job hunting process like any other job.
Two weeks to go. Doesn't sound like a long time, but as I approach the target date, it seems to stretch out into eternity. Which is good, because I've still got a lot to do before I leave.
