Knee-deep in waste

Your penny-pinching designer has been up to her ears in waste matter - literally.

This, courtesy of a bathroom renovation that gets a huge F Grade for shattering the very premise of this blog - to transform your space on a limited budget.

Well, the budget has doubled, but in my defense your honor, I have a client who wants what he wants and has decided that if he's going to go through the nightmare of a bathroom renovation i.e dust, noise, more dust and more noise, then he may as well get what he wants.

So we have moved a toilet across the room to create a massive spa shower. A massive spa shower must also have some bells and whistles: rainheads, body sprays etc...

But ah, those bells don't come cheap and it takes some serious labor to get all this done. Translation: the budget busting and the failing grade for moi.

Alas, it will be a thing of beauty, assuming he  survives the depletion of his checking account.

Tips: to keep a bathroom or kitchen project within budget, try to use the existing footprint. Any major plumbing re-routing, electrical re-wiring or raising of ceilings, will instantly send your costs to a new level.

How did you stay on budget for your bathroom renovation? Better yet, share some tips on how you survived the dust, the noise and the evil glares from the neighbors you disturbed with all the noise?
