According to The Hollywood Reporter, George A. Romero will revive his flesh-eating zombies for Diary of the Dead. A cross between The Blair Witch Project and Night of the Living Dead, the movie will focus on a group of college students filming a low-budget movie in the woods when the dead start to rise from their graves.
Unlike last summer's Land of the Dead, which was made for Universal Pictures, Romero will finance Diary independently, citing frustration with the studio system. When I interviewed him shortly before the release of Land, Romero told me his experience with Universal had been extremely positive and that he hoped to direct a sequel at the studio. Wonder what made him change his mind?

Releasing a horror movie about zombie's in the middle of June will do that to a movie. WHY this wasn't released in October is beyond me.
