According to this story in Radar Online, Spider-Man 3 is now The Most Expensive Movie Ever Made, having cost upwards of $350 million - and that doesn't include promotion and marketing costs.
No one at Sony Pictures is really freaking out - at least publicly - because the movie is as much of a sure thing as a Star Wars sequel. Still, you have to wonder how these film budgets manage to get so enormous. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is also rumored to be pushing towards a $300 million tab. End of the world, indeed.

Good lord! They better hope it does mega bucks. I'm sure it will, but it's got lots of competition coming out around it.

If there's a movie you don't have to worry about recouping its cost, it's Spider-Man 3.
