Recasting Heath

When actor Heath Ledger died last month from an accidental overdose, he was in the midst of filming Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Although the movie seemed destined to join The Man Who Killed Don Quixote as another of Gilliam's never-to-be-finished fantasy films, Variety reports that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law have signed on to play Ledger's character (who travels through three different dimensions in the movie, altering his appearance each time) and allow Gilliam to finish the movie.

Ledger The casting takes the pressure off The Dark Knight, in which Ledger plays Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker, which will no longer have to bear the mantle of the actor's last finished film when it hits theaters this summer.
