Johnny Depp has signed on to play Capt. Jack Sparrow in a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. The plot is being kept under tight wraps, but it apparently deals with Sparrow's search for someone - anyone - who can explain the plot of the last two Pirates movies to him.
Meanwhile, Will Smith and director Francis Lawrence will reunite for a prequel to the smash hit I Am Legend, which was the third screen version of Richard Matheson's novel and grossed $584 million worldwide. A prequel was the only way to milk more money out of that cash cow, since the film's conclusion made a sequel kinda difficult.
It's a good thing the writers' strike is over. It takes a lot of scribes to recycle this many old TV shows and movies.
