A big movie weekend

Weekend_cover Lots of new movies opening today, beginning with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which will most likely have a spot on my year-end top ten list. Here is my review and here is my interview with director Peter Sollett and screenwriter Lorene Scafaria.

Other new films in theaters today: Bill Maher's preachy Religulous; Ed Harris' western Appaloosa (which even Connie Ogle liked, so you know it has to be good); the troubled film adaptation of Jose Saramago's Blindness; another adaptation of a well-known book, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People; Disney's talking-dog epic Beverly Hills Chihuahua; and the fact-based drama A Flash of Genius, about the guy who invented the windshield wiper.

Today I'm seeing An American Carol, which was not screened in advance for critics, but my editor wants me to endure review it anyway. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this will be the first film I've ever written about that features an appearance by Gary Coleman.

A Fan

I'm going to see an American Carol also. I basically am making a statement that Michael Moore sucks.

American Carol? Movie by idiots for idiots. Only thing that interests me is Religulous, but I don't feel like wasting gas and going out of my way to see it, so i'll wait for Netflix. Other then that, nothing is playing that I care about seeing. I can't wait for Body of Lies though. Hopefully that's as good as it should be.
