Everybody loves ABBA

Mammamia Showbizdata.com reports the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! surpassed the $400 million mark in overseas ticket sales this weekend, making it Universal Pictures' second-highest grossing film of all time, after Jurassic Park.

Mamma Mia! was no slouch in the U.S. either, earning $143 million this past summer and a third-place slot (behind Grease and Chicago) on boxofficemojo.com's  chart of all-time highest grossing movie musicals. The movie's cumulative gross now stands at more than half a billion dollars. Apparently, there is no place in the world immune to the infectious charms of that musical force known as ABBA.

can't fight this feeling anymore

It was like shooting a sitting duck
A little Meryl, some Colin, baby, I was stuck!

Mamma Mia! - movie of 2008!

Best time I had in a movie theater in recent memory

I can't say the movie was great, but it sure was fun. I'm going to buy the DVD when it comes out. A few margaritas with the girls and I'm sure we'll be dancing and singing along with Meryl and crew.

Marlin fan in LA

Are you kidding? Movie of 2008? Wow! This is definitely a head scratcher. In hindsight, you cannot argue with a movie that makes $400 million at the box office, that's extraordinary, but when I saw Mamma Mia, before it opened, I was convinced it would bomb. I found the whole experience truly dreadful from beginning to end. And this is coming from someone who actually likes movie musicals, I know, weird!

can't fight this feeling anymore

I was kind of kidding, but you know, I would be a liar if I said I didn't have a great time at that movie - especially the singalong version...and weirdly, I tend not to like musicals, at least not modern-day ones...come on, Marlin fan, give in to the power of ABBA!
