Florida Film Critics go for "Slumdog"

Slumdog The Florida Film Critics Circle has named Slumdog Millionaire as the best picture of 2008 - an award I could not concur with more. The movie also nabbed the Best Director prize for Danny Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy.

Here's the complete list of winners:

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

Best Actor: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler

Best Actress: Melissa Leo, Frozen River

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight

Best Supporting Actress: Marisa Tomei, The Wrestler

Best Director: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Screenplay (Original or Adapted) Simon Beaufoy, Slumdog Millionaire

Best Cinematography: Wally Pfister, The Dark Knight

Best Foreign Language Film: Let the Right One In

Best Animated Feature: Wall*E

Best Documentary: Man on Wire

Breakout Award: Martin McDonagh, writer/director of In Bruges

Golden Orange Award (given for outstanding contribution to film culture within Florida): Dick Morris and the Sarasota Film Society
