I'm playing catch-up this weekend with several movies I've missed, beginning with Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience, which came and went earlier this summer, but is back at the Miami Beach Cinematheque for a three-day run starting Friday.
I really enjoyed Soderbergh's last quasi-experimental, digital video exercise Bubble, and this one is supposed to be even better. Soderbergh has been in the dumps ever since Che bombed and his Moneyball project fell apart (although the movie may still happen, without Soderbergh).
Also on the agenda for the weekend is Bruno, which I still haven't seen, and The Proposal, which I really don't want to see, but has become enough of a hit to make me feel obligated.
No way I'm sitting through this thing, though. You have to draw the line somewhere.
