''Avatar'' sells its first ticket

AvatarMoviePoster  According to a press release issued by MovieTickets.com, someone somewhere purchased a ticket on Aug. 18 to see Avatar on its opening day of Dec. 18. The company states that is the earliest anyone has ever bought an advance ticket for a film.

“Tickets being put on sale for a film four months in advance is unheard of, and the fact that tickets have already been sold really speaks to the tremendous buzz the film has already created and the power of James Cameron at the box office,” said Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager of MovieTickets.com.
