The Crazies is one of the three flop movies George A. Romero directed in the early 1970s after the success of Night of the Living Dead (There's Always Vanilla and Season of the Witch are the other two). Martin, his 1977 take on vampirism, earned him decent reviews and proved he wasn't a one-hit wonder. But it wasn't until Romero got back to zombies with Dawn of the Dead that his career took off.
I've never seen The Crazies, but the trailer for the remake due out early next year has made me curious. The question is: Should I watch the original before I see the new version or after?
