The Ultimate Food Lover's Bucket List

Fellow foodies: What’s your dream culinary trip? Mine was going to cooking school in Italy, and it stands out as my best vacation ever. Then there was my tour of some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s best restaurants. Wine-tasting in Burgundy. Churrasco in Argentina. My mouth is watering.Tuscany2

Now, The Daily Meal (www.thedailymeal.com) has compiled The Ultimate Food Lover's Bucket List, 25 cities with standout food experiences, whether it’s street food in Tokyo, poutine in Montreal, tagine in Fez, Morocco, or ceviche and guinea pig in Lima, Peru. The list, which is basically a list of the great cities of the world: Tuscany, Tokyo, New York, Napa/Sonoma, Paris, Barcelona, Montreal, Bangkok, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Charleston, S.C., San Sebastien, Spain, London, Burgundy, Singapore, Fez, Portland (both Oregon and Maine), Sao Paulo, Capetown, Oaxaca, Mumbai, Shanghai, Lima and Beirut.

I've been to 11 of the 25 and am surprised by the omission of two of the world’s great cities for eating, San Francisco and Buenos Aires.Tuscany1

As a foodie – not as a traveler-at-large – my next culinary dream trip is Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other parts of Thailand. Or Greece.

Check out this list and see what you think. Is your favorite foodie destination on the list?
