One of the most beautiful places in the world is Yosemite Valley, with its spectacular waterfalls, sheer rock walls, granite domes and spires, the tumbling Merced River, alpine meadows.... I could just go on and on. Truly, the national park in the center of California takes my breath away.
Now the Yosemite Conservancy has given me and millions of others a gift: a webcam focused on Yosemite Falls -- the photo above is from the webcam. The Conservancy already had cameras focused on El Capitan and Half Dome. You'll find the webcams here and a story with details for photo nerds (like me) here. A couple of caveats: The camera takes still photos that are refreshed every 30 seconds, not live action. You won't see water tumbling. And I'm not sure if they work at night. I looked at all the webcams last night and saw only pitch black. Maybe the moon wasn't out. Even so, just a snapshot of that beauty brightens a bad day. Hmmm, I think I'd better grab a quick look now.
