Travelers to Asia and the western U.S. on Sunday or Monday will be able to see an unusual “ring of fire” annular eclipse, where a narrow halo of the sun remains visible while the moon blocks the rest of it.

The eclipse will be visible first in Asia at dawn on Monday, but because of time zones, it will actually be later when the western U.S. sees it around the time of sunset on Sunday. It won’t be visible in the eastern U.S.
A number of national parks in the west will hold viewing parties. In Asia, cable cars and ferries will make special trips and museums will host viewings.
