HEAT: Michael Beasley could be dealt during the draft

ESPN's Chris Sheridan joined "The Jorge Sedano Show" on 790 The Ticket  this morning to discuss the NBA.

When the topic was about Michael Beasley's future with the Miami Heat, Sheridan said, "that he believes Bealsey will be traded on draft day."

CHRIS SHERIDAN W SEDANO - BEASLEY WILL BE TRADED AT DRAFT - 5-26-10

I agree with Sheridan and think it's obvious Beasley's future is not here in Miami. His game doesn't seem to mesh well with Dwyane Wade and the benching in Game 5 of the Boston series speaks volumes.

At this point, getting cap space in a year like this could prove to be a much better option for the HEAT.

With all the holes this team has and some viable options out there via free agency or trade, it's best to move on.

No need to continue to try to fit the square peg in the round hole.

Good riddance. Can't happen soon enough

Rick

I think they're giving up on him too soon.

t

boy if you can't get your man it will be fun trying to explain to the fan base that we have space but no players!!!

dave

Bosh wants a sign and trade. Miami needs to step up their offer.

Dave

Good for Beas, the Heat cannot develop young players to save their lives.

victor

the beast needs more time... they should give him a one more year see how he does.... if not then change him...

--------
speaks volumes of how ineffective Spo was.....

not fouling pierce with a foul to give
benching beasley the entire 2nd half when haslem wasn't giving of us anything and was playing injured.
if you watched the season then you don't need me to list all the reasons why Spo should not be a Head coach for any NBA team.

dan

Good for Beas, Pat Riley is the most overrated coach ever and has never been known for developing young talent. Riley won with the Lakers with a dream team, he took over the year after they won a championship, he couldn't get in done in NY with future Hall of Famer Pat Ewing and co. He quit on the team when it was young, he took over once the team was rebuilt and winner, then he bailed again when it was obvious the team wasn't going anywhere. He is only in it for PAT..

UNCLE NANO

The need to trade Beasley to the Wizards , plus this years #1 and get Gilbert Arenas. Get Amare, sign Boozer or Bosh or both, and We got a great squad for years

mike1361

Sign WADE and BOSH
then .... buy out J.James
also ... trade Beasely, Cook, #1 pick for M.GASOL and OJ MAYO
sign B.HAYWOOD,C with MLE
NBA veteran desperate for a ring .. ANDRE MILLER, at league minimum
Sign UDONIS, D.WRIGHT, J.ANTHONY, Q.RICH,

THE TEAM: HAYWOOD,BOSH,D.WRIGHT,WADE,A.MILLER

2ND TEAM: M.GASOL,UDONIS,QRICH,OJMAYO,CHALMERS

REMAINING FIVE PLAYERS: BEVERLY, J.ANTHONY, and three 2nd round picks

That would be the best thing that could happen to Beasley and the worse thing for Riley. The young stud that got away cause you didn't know what the hell to do with him.

BADDOGS55

THAT WAS ONE MISTAKE WE MADE , 6'10 WAS THE FIRST SIGN! COME ON, MAN! CHIEF PRIDEEEEEEEEEEEE!

ricky

He has to be traded. I just happen to get tickets behind the heat bench this year and during a timeout when the game was on the line and I just happen to see beasley stareing at a girl the whole time during the timeout. Immature and needs to go

Mike33

At this level the coach only help a player develop. Beasley didn't make the effort to mesh with the Heat offensive philosophy. The Heat's offensive philosophy is not Spo's, but Riley's. He's used the same offense since forever, and it a quite effective pick n roll offense. The P n R is not playing to Beasley's strength, it plays to Wade's strength as it should. The not fouling in the last 2 minutes, even with a foul to give is a Riley defensive philosophy. So if Riley comes back to coach don't expect the philosophy, both offensive and defensive to change.

Beaseley can flourish with a run and gun team like the GS Warriors but he is too immature and does not play winning basketball. In that system he'll score a ton of points but they won't win any games. He would not fit with any of the elite teams in the NBA. He needs to go to a crappy team that plays no defense. This eras Derrick Coleman!!

I agree with most of what you said, But I would replace O.J.Mayo w/ Rudy Gay in that trade and maximaze it. He would start and we could still have Dorell being that spark coming off the bench.

Jacob

Can definitely see the Grizzlies trading Gasol and Mayo for Beasley. While Riley has them on the phone, maybe the Grizzles can also thrown in Rudy Gay and a first round pick. Beasley
for Gasol, Mayo, and Gay. Awesome deal!

And all those other guys you mention (Haslem, Wright, Richardson....) will take the veterans minimum to play for the Heat, since they won't have any cap space left. That happens all the time! You know how much players only care about winning and not about money.

And they can definitely get Andre Miller to sign as a free agent. I mean, even though he has two more years under contract, the Blazers probably plan on cutting him by the draft.

And Haywood can definitely sign for the MLE, even though the Heat don't get a MLE this year. Even though the MLE is only for teams operating above the salary cap, David Stern will probably make an exception for PAt Riley and the Heat.

Awesome post, mike 1361!!

tincup83

We need Antoine Walker back.

Number 29

Beasley is going to be a stud in this league. He is still young and needs to get stronger but he is so talented as a scorer. I think he just needs the ball more and probably feels held back because he doesn't get to create offense the way he likes. This always happens to the Heat, we trade players and they become allstars on another team like Glen Rice, Steve Smith, Jamal Mashburn, Matt Geiger, Caron Butler and now, possibly Beasley too.

GW

I think the Heat are stupid for giving up on Beasley. In two years anybody they sign will be 30 or older at that point, Beasley will be 23. If Wade wants him gone then let him come out and be a man and say so. The biggest knock on Beasley is that he is immature. He's 21 isnt that to be expected. The Heat dont have an offensive strategy. They dont have a polished pg and somehow Beasley is expected to get 20/10 when he gets pulled for making a mistake. If Beasley went to any other team in the lottery he would have been leaps and bounds above where he is now. It took Jermaine O'Neal almost six years to make a huge impact in the NBA. If Wade wants to leave let him. The Knicks and Nets suck even with the addition of Wade. He isnt even Chicago's number one offseason priority. He is 2a or 2b with Bosh. The guy has averaged 15 and 6 in limited time the past two years. He isnt a bum, he just hasnt become a star yet. Considering the way Wade dominates the ball, you think thats a surprise. If the Heat are smart they will package Cook and teh 1st round pick for a pg. Especially since they are rumored to pick Bledsoe from Kentucky. Resign Q-Rich,Wright and Anthony incase he doesnt exercise his player option. Haslem is not worth the money he makes and if they are trying to turn the corner he needs to go. Appreciate the loyalty but its time to part ways. Role players win championships not stars. The heat won before because of strong and timely play from Payton, Posey and JWill. They need to resign the vets and offer Dirk a three year deal. He is just as good a rebounder as Stoudemire and projects to still be effective two or three years from now.

Martim

Jacob, what are you puffing on?

"Can definitely see the Grizzlies trading Gasol and Mayo for Beasley. While Riley has them on the phone, maybe the Grizzles can also thrown in Rudy Gay and a first round pick. Beasley for Gasol, Mayo, and Gay. Awesome deal!"

You actually think the Grizzlies are dumb enough to trade three starting players for an unproven, raw, bench player in Beasley? And a first round pick too? Especially after they made the worst trade in the history of the NBA by trading Pao Gasol to the perennial power-house Lakers for basically nothing?
Come down from the clouds, pal.
