Wayra to hold Demo Day in Miami Dec. 12

Logo_wayraWayra, considered the world’s largest global accelerator, and FIU’s Americas Venture Capital Conference are teaming up to bring Wayra´s first international Demo Day to Miami Dec. 12. This event will be hosted by The LAB Miami as part of the AVCC just ahead of the main conference Dec. 13-14.

Wayra, a Telefónica Digital initiative, is in 11 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Germany, Ireland, México, Spain, Perú, United Kingdom and Venezuela). Its offices in Bogotá, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Lima, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Caracas, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Munich and Dublin currently host more than 170 startups.

This year’s AVCC conference falls by design a few days after Art Basel. Organizers are working to fill the time in between with more satellite events. One highlight: Endeavor, the global nonprofit with a mission to select, mentor and accelerate the best high-impact entrepreneurs around the world, will be holding one of its global meeting in Miami Dec. 10-12. It will include one of the nonprofit’s
international selection panels, where it chooses its high-impact entrepreneurs.

Americas Venture Capital Conference ( AVCC)

What: Third annual conference presented by Florida International University brings together entrepreneurs and investors from throughout the Americas.

When: Dec. 13-14

Where: JW Marriott Brickell

Theme: Data, Design & Dollars

One highlight: Up to 20 selected top start-up and later-stage high-growth companies will make presentations and compete for cash awards.

Changes this year: Two full days with agenda redesigned to include more short talks from entrepreneurs and investors from around the world, more Q&A time, more networking and “surprises.”
