Marlins Park became a field of geeky dreams Thursday night, as dozens of exhibitors showed off the latest in tablets and laptops, big screens, games, cloud storage and other technologies to make your personal or business life easier — or at least a lot more fun. It was all part of the TigerDirect Miami Tech Summit & Holiday Bash on Thursday night.

More than 7,800 people attended the free event, TigerDirect’s second Tech Bash and the first time at Marlins Park. Exhibits and food vendors were spread around the field as well as in the refreshment areas behind the seats.

For entertainment, Billy the Marlin was on hand, as well as a “tech circus,” music and plenty of free food and drink. But beyond the carnival like atmosphere, there was plenty of tech — including Intel’s experiential brand activation exhibit, including an in-flight experience, an Oculus Rift virtual reality demo and plenty of chances to play the latest video games. The 115 exhibitors included Alienware, Sony, LG, Western Digital and Microsoft, with plenty of raffles and giveaways to please the crowds.

The local tech community partnered with TigerDirect, and Refresh Miami, The LAB Miami and several Miami startups hosted an area with 3D printing demonstrations, an artist creating portraits of fairgoers using the Sktchy iPhone app and more.

Near the end of the four-hour party, which ended at midnight, NBC-6 anchor Joe Rose pumped up the crowd as an emcee and did a live sports report from the park.
