Time flies when you spend so much of it
online! This fall, Social Media Club South Florida (SMCSF) turns five
years young. From its humble beginnings, the founders simply wished to
create a space for like-minded people to connect. Somehow, the club grew
into much more than that.
Today, SMCSF is one of the largest chapters in the country.
Social Media Club South Florida aims to raise awareness and educate local professionals and students about the value of emerging social media tools for marketing communications, public relations, customer service, recruitment, knowledge sharing and more. The club promotes social media as an essential communications tool, working alongside traditional media to improve the exposure, efficiency, and prospects of all organizations. This applies to commercial, not-for-profit, educational and governmental institutions. To meet these growing needs, SMCSF holds monthly meetings and disseminates information to engage participants in social media, including presentations from social media enthusiasts, open discussions, and networking opportunities.
One such opportunity has arrived this week as SMCSF celebrates its 5-year anniversary.
On Nov. 12 at The LAB Miami, SMCSF is hosting a celebratory meet-up: "Stop Faking It!" The program will reveal a myriad of dos and don'ts in social media when it comes to authenticity. Why should you choose real followers over fake ones? How can companies and individuals alike truly create a an authentic online brand presence? How do genuine engagement and grounded grassroots initiatives gather speed to benefit your bottom line? These topics and much more will be addressed while the panel answers questions and invites audience participation.
