GetMyRx expands to Broward

GetMyRx's service is now available in Broward County.

Since launching in Miami-Dade in January, the Miami-based startup's free GetMyRx app lets consumers skip the trip to the pharmacy and order new or existing prescriptions from local pharmacies, which provide free same-day delivery to their homes or offices. GetMyRx is next planning to expand into other major metro markets.

“Broward residents have been asking us to expand since January, so we're excited to accelerate our rollout to this adjacent market," said Luis Angel, the company’s founder and CEO, in the news release. “We know patients are averse to visiting the pharmacy and waiting in line, and we know prescription leakage [when patients don't ever get their prescriptions filled] is a multi-billion dollar health problem. Now consumers are validating that GetMyRx can become an important part of the solution,” said Angel, who was part of Venture Hive's inaugural accelerator class.

The GetMyRx pharmacy network will cover 100 percent of Broward County residents. And like in Miami-Dade's launch, that's by design. The partipating pharmacies are geographically located to cover the territory.

During the inaugural program in Miami, hundreds of prescriptions were processed through the GetMyRx app, and pharmacies typically delivered within a couple of hours. Consumer ratings  were strong and pharmacy staff reported a high level of satisfaction with the back-end of the GetMyRx platform, the company said. The GetMyRx app, which works for everyone regardless of insurance status, can be downloaded for free in the Apple App Store.
