Shark Tank star Daymond John and the Miller Lite Tap the Future national business plan competition stop in Miami next week for as Live Pitch Event, where semifinalist startup teams will deliver their best pitch for a chance to win big money. Three randomly selected attendees will also be selected to pitch for a chance to win $500 -- we'll drink to that!
Five semifinalist teams (none from Florida) will pitch their businesses at the Pearl Champagne Lounge at Nikki Beach on Tuesday, July 8. The teams will be judged and receive feedback from Daymond John and other judges, including guest judge Wifredo Fernandez, co-founder of The LAB Miami. The top team will receive $20,000 and advance to the national finals to compete for a grand prize of $200,000.
In addition, three lucky entrepreneurs will be randomly selected and recieve one-minute to pitch their business on the spot. John and the other judges will provide advice and feedback -- and a $500 prize to one of them.
“Entrepreneurship is a tough road that takes a lot of heart, dedication and discipline,” John said. “Miller Lite Tap the Future as a program gives these young businesses a great platform to learn and put in practice some of the most important elements in business, like pitching, networking and putting together a business plan. Most importantly, it gives them a chance to win grant money, which can really help a small business get a head start.”
Last year, Miami-based Elebev won its semifinalist round in the Tap The Futre contest and took home $20,000. The company made it to the top five in the nation. Founded by Nestor Villalobos, Elebev created Sfiro Premium Chillers, a product that creates transparent ice spheres of purified water that are served in a glass without any worries of contamination.
