So Jennifer Beals made a bunch of lesbians happy last night by showing up at the HRC L Word premiere in NYC with her new on-screen love interest Marlee Matlin, who also happens to be her good friend since she was 19. So, like, Flashdance era?
Anyway, at the party, Marlee sez through an interpreter that the best thing about being on the L Word is that "I get to f*cking make out with Jennifer Beals.''
And JB retorts: "I had to teach her how to use tongue.''
But JB called me a few days ago (it's not that sexy a thing that she called me, really; a publicist set up the interview) while she was in a car on her way to the Law & Order set. It was early and she was still uncaffeinated, she said. But she was a sport. We talked about a bunch of things, including what it was like to make out with her old friend Marlee.
And this is what Jennifer said:
"We just laugh hysterically the whole time. It's horrible. We can not get through a love scene at all. Ever.''
And for all you TiBetters out there, it gets better: "With Laurel it's different. We know exactly what the beats are of our love scenes. But with Marlee, we just start laughing hysterically.''
And wait, there's more about Marlee and sex and cracking up:
"The first time it happened was the first big scene and it was an incredibly long, drawn out love scene, which is like having a long dance number, which means there are five million steps you've got to remember. At one point, Marlee had to take off my bra, or take off her bra, or whatever. And it had to come before this other move or else the thing that followed wouldn't work,'' Jennifer said.
"She realized she had forgotten to do it. The camera was behind her so it couldn't see her face. And she looked at me with slight panic and absolute mischievousness and just started laughing. And of course I started laughing. And that was just the end of it. I just feel for the editors. They had to edit around a lot of silliness...I don't usually go off on scenes like that. But she makes me laugh really hard.''
There you go girls, don't say I don't give you some goodies.
