Still wishing for a Helena-Bette connection? Ilene Chaiken sez get over it.

OK, so judging by the prattle on some of the message boards, a lot of you have already gotten your hands on Episode Two of The L Word, airing this Sunday.

If you were at one of the HRC premieres around the country, you got "Livin' la Vida Loca'' as a parting gift. The rest of you have been downloading it from here and there.

So much more fun than Episode One, yes? So much to discuss. Like Dean Porter's butch arms.  And the cartoon that is Papi. And Alice, who is all kinds of brilliant in the back of a limo.

But let's not get into a bunch of spoilers. Better to have some respect for the good girls who are waiting patiently for Sunday night.

One little thing though:

Ilene, would it kill you to give us a little HelBette action? Just re-watching the brief scene in Vida Loca where Bette sits cozily next to Helena at The Planet, discussing the fact that Tina fired Helena from what had been her own movie studio.

And maybe it's because we've seen too much HelBette fan fiction, but that quick exchange did remind how much fun it would be to watch those two go at it. Even if it's just for a misguided quickie.

But I did make this request of Ilene when I saw her in Miami the weekend before she went to Canada to start shooting Season Four.

And she was a total killjoy:

"Bette does a lot of things that are not altogether principled,'' Chaiken said. "But I don't think she's gonna go there. I don't think she's interested in that rondelet of girlfriend-passing-around. I think she's beyond that. Bette has a new career. And I'm hoping that's going to be a lot more exciting for her.''

Hmm. Yeah, does seem like the dean is amused by her new T.A., in short shorts and all like,  "Oh Dean Porter, what big guns you have.''

I suppose that's a good point. Thanks for the reminder. Then again, if The Creator herself (as she is called on some sites) is willing to blab about something, without suggesting it's off the record or anything, don't you think that sort of makes it fair game?

So have you watched the second episode yet? Or are you one of those unspoiled girls?

I watched ep2 and LOVED all of it except Papi. Man, she's a joke. I would forgive her stupid behaviour if she was hot, but she's not even that!

really? i think papi def has some hot moments. and i love how alice pronounces her name at first, like she's saying a cute version of pap smear. but i just can't get my head around the math. a thousand something women - how does papi have the time to swirl her hair into so many different 'dos when she's got to bone a bitch a day?

Ilene Chaiken, you know i love the show so much but if u can let sarah shahi came back for the season 5 and it will be the best thing for us to be happy seeing shane and carmen ends up together. Is it true that sarah shahi has been fired or she's the one who leaves the show. Some of the past cast members are guesting on the show or permanently back for the show. Hope you'll have an eye on this because it's not only me but many of us are begging you to please bring back the character of carmen. Hope you can try and we can hear some feedback from you.
