We're hearing that Major Soccer is close to making a decision on Marcelo Claure's expansion bid, and an announcement could come as soon as Friday.
Claure had planned to partner with Barcelona FC in the $40 million plan, but the Spanish club indicated last week it had reservations about going through with the deal.
As soon we we hear anything, you'll be the first to know.

Hi I love this blog, but I have two questions about this article.
1. What's the source for the potential early announcement?
2. Do you think the early announcement is good or bad?

Nearly every MLS fan not based in South Florida is hoping this is just a tremendous ruse, or some really indiscriminate reporting of an ill-informed rumor. Miami (and Barca) please take a hint - we're just not that into you.
That goes for you too Montreal.

uhhh carl, we dont care if you're "not that into us". its "not all about you". see, two can play this game.
miami is the largest market in the us without a team, and the bid is sponsored by one of the top teams in europe. this is the best bid by far. hopefully we will hear good news very soon.

woohoo now another sports league can begin hating on Miami too!
Bring on Barca!

Carl,
Whatever your reason for hating us whether it be jealousy, ignorance or just because you're an anglophile. You can't deny the good Barca will bring to the MLS and soccer in the U.S. as a whole. So, I really hope you change your mind and if not that you stub your toe somewhere...really hard.
