OK, we won't know that until December, but the USA World Cup bid committee is in Switzerland today to officially submit its 1,250-page proposal for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup. Miami is one of 18 cities that could potentially host matches. That number will be pared down to 12 or 14 cities IF the US is awarded a World Cup.
Speculation is that Europe will get the 2018 Cup, so the US would be competing with Japan, South Korea, Australia and Qatar for 2022.
FIFA will have site inspections this summer. The Miami World Cup bid committee is having a press conference today to announce a few "exciting'' things...will keep you posted. And remember, this Sunday begins the Miami Herald's World Cup Countdown. Don't miss it.
