Freddy Adu gets call up

US coach Bob Bradley announced his 23-man roster for the upcoming Gold Cup, and one of the biggest surprises was the appearance of Freddy Adu. The former teen phenom hadn't been called up for two years, but Bradley decided to give him a second chance. Thoughts?

Here is the roster...

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton, England), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton, England), Nick Rimando (Salt Lake)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne, France), Jonathan Bornstein (Tigres, Mexico), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany), Clarence Goodson (Brondby, Denmark), Eric Lichaj (Leeds, England), Oguchi Onyewu (Twente, Netherlands), Tim Ream (New York), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United, England)

Midfielders: Freddy Adu (Rizespor, Turkey), Michael Bradley (Aston Villa, England), Clint Dempsey (Fulham, England), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles), Maurice Edu (Rangers, Scotland), Benny Feilhaber (New England), Jermaine Jones (Blackburn, England), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht, Belgium), Robbie Rogers (Columbus)

Forwards: Juan Agudelo (New York), Jozy Altidore (Bursaspor, Turkey), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose)

No Davies??

Davies is still coming back from his injury. I think he's better off playing in MLS over the summer and concentrating on regaining his form rather than playing in the Gold Cup.

I'm glad Adu is getting another shot. He's still young and has the raw talent to be something special for the USA. I just hope that in his club career he sees consistent time on the pitch. If that means moving back to MLS, he should do it.

Thanks to Coach Bradley for giving Adu another chance.
Hopefully Freddy has learned that it takes a TEAM to play this beautiful. He needs to check his ego out of the door.
His career (DC United, Real Salt Lake, Benfica, Rizespor....) was spirally downwards bigtime before Bradley's call up.
Wish him the very best

Coach Bradley needs to let Adu play more... Heck, he needs to let him play, period! I'm tired of him playing his son instead of Adu. Freddy is a much better athleate and football player than Michael Bradley could ever dream of, but Coach Bradley knows that if Adu plays, his son won't see the field because they're both play similar positions (attacking midfielder).

It's time for the USA to build their game around Adu, not Michael Bradley or the old fart of Donovan...

Fredi played well and was electric. It was our back who let US down.
