Freddy Adu gets call up

US coach Bob Bradley announced his 23-man roster for the upcoming Gold Cup, and one of the biggest surprises was the appearance of Freddy Adu. The former teen phenom hadn't been called up for two years, but Bradley decided to give him a second chance. Thoughts?

Here is the roster...

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton, England), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton, England), Nick Rimando (Salt Lake)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne, France), Jonathan Bornstein (Tigres, Mexico), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany), Clarence Goodson (Brondby, Denmark), Eric Lichaj (Leeds, England), Oguchi Onyewu (Twente, Netherlands), Tim Ream (New York), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United, England)

Midfielders: Freddy Adu (Rizespor, Turkey), Michael Bradley (Aston Villa, England), Clint Dempsey (Fulham, England), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles), Maurice Edu (Rangers, Scotland), Benny Feilhaber (New England), Jermaine Jones (Blackburn, England), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht, Belgium), Robbie Rogers (Columbus)

Forwards: Juan Agudelo (New York), Jozy Altidore (Bursaspor, Turkey), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose)

Barcelona in Miami Aug. 3.

Confirmed this morning: Barcelona will play Chivas de Guadalajara Aug. 3 in Miami at Sun Life Stadium, 8 p.m. as part of the World Football Challenge. Barca will also play Manchester United (a rematch of the upcoming Champions League final) on July 30 in DC and will play Club America in Dallas on Aug. 6.

Dolphins season-ticket holders get first dibs during a pre-sale that begins today. General tickets are $30-$125 and go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster or www.worldfootballchallenge.com

No word yet on whether Lionel Messi will come, as it is just after Copa America. But with or without him, this is a great match for local soccer fans. If this community wants to prove it deserves big matches and an MLS team, a big crowd for Barca would be a great start.

Barcelona in Miami? Man U wins

It's not official yet, but word is that Champions League finalist Barcelona will play Chivas of Guadalajara at Sun Life Stadium Aug. 3. Stay tuned for more details.

In other Mother's Day soccer news, Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 in a critical Premier League Match. The ManU win, combined with Arsenal's loss, means the EPL title will most certainly go to the Red Devils. They need just one point in the two remaining games to clinch the crown. And the Champions League final is coming up between Man U and Barcelona May 28.
