Usually I can take a joke with the best of them. Whether it's personal or even a good Cuban joke. But after reading today's sports page, more specifically, Greg Cote's " Random Evidence" as someone who's married to a Colombian, and have a lot of Colombian and Mexican friends, and know they're both honest hard working people, I was insulted at Mr. Cote's attempt at humor. So much so, that I feel both Mr. Cote and his editor should be suspended for his comments. Other people in the media have been fired or suspended for lesser comments. Here's Mr. Cote's attempt at being funny. " Colombia beat Mexico in front of more than 50,000 spectators at Dolphins' stadium. I'd assumed it was the finals of the International Drug-Cartel Championships, but it turned out to be a soccer match". And I quote. That is insulting, demeaning, ethnicly insensitive to Colombians and Mexicans. My wife will be sending an email to the Herald, calling for Mr. Cote and his editor to be suspended. And I would hope that my friends on Facebook, if you're as insulted as I am, it doesn't matter if you're not Colombian or Mexican, that you too will let your feelings known to the Miami Herald. Thank you.
