Months after opening their first location, the group behind B Ocean Fort Lauderdale announced their latest acquisition will be part of the B Hotels & Resorts brand.
The Continental Oceanfront South Beach Hotel will be renovated and relauched by late fall 2012. A name hasn't been announced, though we're thinking at least part of it shouldn't "B" any surprise.
The 250-room hotel at 1825 Collins Ave. was bought in April for $61 million by Weston-based InSite Group in a joint venture with Cube Capital. The exterior, lobby, guest rooms, meeting space, dining areas and pool and beach area are all getting updates, though the company wouldn't put a dollar amount on their planned investment.
If the new hotel has a name similar to its predecessor in Fort Lauderdale, South Beach is in for some alphabet soup: There's already a W South Beach and a Z Ocean Hotel on Collins Avenue.
