I don't know about you, but I've suddenly hit the wall. On the one side: heart-wrenching stories about California families of four living in tiny motels that make me greatful for my relatively prosperous, if sometimes uneasy life. On the other side: Neighbors who are jetting off to Colorado, Utah or just Disney for Spring Break.
Call me shallow, but I think vacations are critical to sanity. Not as crucial as feeding starving children, to be sure. But for mental health, and maybe even for physical well-being, getting a break is completely necessary.
Especially since my birthday is coming up, and last year's birthday got derailed by The Husband's trip to the emergency room (appendectomy, oh joy.)
Where should I go? I've got a few of my own ideas, but I'd love to hear yours. Give me a shout!

I totally hear you! I'm thinking of doing the same. Need to get rejuvenated myself...not sure how far you want to trek?
1) San Francisco--not too cold, not too hot, lots of culture (my favorite sushi spot is Ryoko on Taylor, close to Union Square, nothing fancy and plain black doors welcome you in to amazing sushi goodness!)
2) Athens, GA -- I'm told it's a great little college town with plenty of history, culture, and great art and music scene to keep you busy or just relaxed.
3) Hawaii -- I know, it's quite a haul from the East coast. But there are tons of deals to be had. I'm sending my parents to stay in Maui for 10 days next month in a condo through Shell Vacations, nice deal (now wondering if I should've booked too!).
Hope that helps! Look forward to hearing about where you end up and get to unwind...
