Sunday Shout Outs: The day after V-Tech

OK, so for about 3 hours Saturday night it looked like my UM-Virginia Tech prediction (UM winning a defensive standoff 13-10) was about to come true. Then, like most UM losses this season, the Hurricanes offense went into malfunction mode.

Two Kyle Wright interceptions in the fourth quarter sent UM home 17-10 losers, ruining yet another outstanding defensive effort and putting UM on a path to its worst season since 1997. Yes, that's right. 1997. When the Hurricanes went 5-6 (while on probation and scholarship reductions). With three games left, it is hard to fathom UM winning out and avoiding what has been the worst mark (9-4 in 1999) since the bad old days.

Copy_of_coker_is_a_joker At Maryland next week seems so much tougher now that the Terps beat Clemson Saturday. At Virginia, with this offense, is no cupcake either. And Boston College on Thanksgiving night? If UM loses both road games, what honestly makes anybody believe they'll have any heart left to eek out a 6th victory and become bowl eligible? It really does look that bleak, especially when your defense holds the other team to 139 yards and you still lose.

KYLE WRIGHT'S DAD LOSES HIS COOL
OK, I'm done venting. Now, I share the scenes from the postgame lockerroom. Rather, let's start with the final moments and the tunnel where after Larry Coker was booed off the field with "Fire Coker chants," Kyle Wright's father, Ken, got involved in some intense foul-mouthed conversation with a few UM fans in the stands, who had a lot of NOT nice things to say about his boy.

Mr. Wright exchanged a few f-bombs with the fans who were telling his boy to "Go back to California, you (expletive)." There was a lot more colorful language between the group before Mr. Wright called out stadium security guards by saying "why don't you people in yellow shirts get up there and shut that f---er up." Athletic director Paul Dee, always in and around the UM lockerroom after games, saw what was happening and along with some UM staff tried to quell the situation by yelling at Mr. Wright to hush up and not bother with the fans. Mr. Wright didn't like that and responded, "When the hell is somebody [f---ing] going to stick up for my son?"

Wright_2 Nobody on UM's staff did at that moment. They were too busy trying to stop Mr. Wright from possibly getting arrested in front of a pack of reporters, who didn't know the "guy who was yelling" was Kyle's dad. Mr. Wright's told one UM assistant "that's my son. Do you have one?" The UM assistant told Mr. Wright, "that's part of being here."

To hear what it sounded like, click on this link: Download nov4_kylefatheredited.mp3 . I will warn you, I tried editing out as many f-bombs as I could and I'm sure I couldn't get all of the foul language out in the distance for fear it would become one giant bleepfest. As for who is saying what, it is easy to figure out who Wright's father is when you hear him say "Hey, Hey! followed by the "you guys in yellow shirts" comment.

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
Inside the UM lockerroom it was a different story. There was silence. A lot of banging of shoulder pads and disappointment. Several players including guard Derrick Morse said "they still believe in Wright." Kirby Freeman, who looked spectacular and awful in matter of the four plays he got Saturday's game, was holding Wright's hand in the lockerroom (it was in a consoling manner). Assistant Andrew Swasey came over and tried consoling Wright too. Kyle, who didn't even shower after the game and sat at his locker in full pads for nearly half an hour, was red-faced and on the verge of tears all night.

BETTER PLAYCALLING NEEDED
In my eyes the bottomline is this: While Wright may have played the worst game of his career Saturday, this loss wasn't entirely his fault. At this point in the season after all UM has been through, somebody on this coaching staff has to realize UM can't win with Wright or Freeman having to do more than what they are capable of. What does that mean? That means Kyle can't be asked to drop back and lead UM to victory with his arm. He needs a running game to take the brunt of the work. UM had that Saturday night against Virginia Tech even without Javarris James. Tyrone Moss and even Charlie Jones were eating the Hokies up between the tackles.

Yet, every time Miami started moving the football on the ground, offensive coordinator Rich Olson called for a pass. On UM's second drive, the Hurricanes had a 3rd and 1 at the Hokies 49. Wright got into the shotgun, faked a handoff to James and fell down back at the line of scrimmage. I know UM struggled last week against Georgia Tech on 3rd and 1, but that was last week. It is the first quarter, you have the ball in Virginia Tech territory on a windy night -- RUN THE FOOTBALL.

Another example... on UM's third possession which begins at the V-Tech 45. Wright fakes a handoff and gets sacked on first down for a 10-yard loss. Why isn't UM just mowing the Hokies down on the ground? Then, on second down, Wright nearly gets picked off before firing a 30-yard pass up field to Lance Leggett who runs a 20-yard post. There are just so many times this offense could have just stuck to the run Saturday night and won the game. But instead Olson and Coker put the ball and the pressure in the hands of a quarterback who has cracked under pressure.

Anyway, the guys in the lockerroom were great. If you want to hear some of the interviews, click on the microphone on our UM page. It links to the audio interviews. Derrick Morse, Kirby Freeman, Tyrone Moss were all good. I would post the audio I got of Mr. Wright going bananas, but there is so much foul language it would probably be an FCC violation.

CampbellMy last thoughts and then the forum is yours to vent. Here are some good things. As bleak as this season has been for the Canes, there have been bright spots. Calais Campbell is one of them. He is a straight up All-Star. The kid had three sacks last night and now has had a sack in his last six games. Jon Peattie's 55-yard field goal was also impressive. I'll say this and I think you'll agree: this defense is really, really good and if there was any semblance of an offense this UM team would probably be 8-1 today and not 5-4. And while UM may not have a first round pick this year, breaking a long string, Campbell is sure to get big NFL dollars in his future.

Now, it's all yours. Vent. Vent. Vent.

Give the Hokies a little credit, they played tough. Take away Moss' long run, which was initially stopped for a short gain, and the stats are darned even: 10 1st downs each, 207 to 185 total yards, 84 - 86 passing yards, 5 sacks and a turnover on the Hokies, 2 sacks and three turnovers on Miami. It was a typical, tough defensive game where a few key plays made all the difference.

You shouldn't be surprised you UM lost to VT, VT has now won 8 of the last 12 including the last two in Miami. It's not just Wright or Coker or any other easy scapegoat you want to try to pin it on, Tech is just a darned good team.

There's no more word that has'nt been said already regarding Cooker going and K. Wright being benched . unfortunetly they are the easiest parts to replace, the real problem with this program sits in the university presidents chair, and that athlethic director that is willing to take it up his behind to pay for his lavish life style. The loyalty with this program died longtime ago since dee sat at the helm of the athletic dept. Shalala killed it further more when she desided that killing this football program will achieve the dream of thoes nerdy alumnis that hated this football program since the start. All this stanford of the east talk is B.S. , miami is not going to be stanford or duke or any of this nerdy rich people school of america. Would you think Univ of Texas kill the biggest revenue earner in thier school because they want to be like duke?
I will always support the CANES no matter what but aint spending another dime on a football game to watch shalala and dee slaughter this football program.

Its obviously time for a "mercy" Benching

Coker wins one national title and was one play from winning a second and the entire city of Miami is ready to burn him at the stake for going 34-13 since? Amazing. Sure, bring Butch Davis back to the U. The Davis led 'Canes were a lot easier to beat.

miami fans are pathetic for the most part their loyalty and attitude never ceases to amaze me

To Freaker:
I understand your point about many of the fans not showing up because of the poor product on the field and that there is essentially a fan revolution going on. I also appreciate your point that fans are fed up and will not return until significant changes are made. Those are valid points. However, I do not think they outweigh the reality that many so-called fans are just unbelievably fair weather as exemplified by the situation with Kyle's father.
I also believe you can support the players, team, and program by showing up while still calling for change. FSU is as down as anyone and they got 82,000 against a lackluster UVA. I realize FSU is much larger with a much larger alumni base, but S.FL is a much larger area. Take the example of Penn State v. Illinois. 108,000 fans show up in a down year for Penn State hosting a boring Illinois team. Again, I realize Penn State is huge, but their fans show up win or lose while still calling for change.
I plead with the fans to be truly good fans. Don't you realize by not showing up and, when some of you do show up your antics are embarrassing, that YOU are hurting the program?
What many out of state fans wouldn't give to be able to go to the OB on a regular basis, especially for games like VT or BC. I'll be at the UVA game wearing my 'Canes jersey and cheering for the team, even if they get down. GO 'CANES!

All this freakin Virginia people posting thier comments here with .."Miami people never ceases to amaze me" another say something like "coker wins one N.C. and almost another" hey you ass clown go pettetion your school to hire him after he gets fired from down here then. What amazes people down here are most of you clueless fans up there at blacksburg, you guys never have any idea what winning a national championship feels like but yet you guys talk like you won 5 of them already...... oh wait , we effin' have 5 national championship ! you guys talk when you get one ok ! otherwise do whatever the heck you guys do up there in var-ginal tek , bowling or sumtin'

305 til I die !

To Ed-1:
If you went to the VT game and are going to the BC game, you rock. If you didn't go and don't have a real, real good reason, you suck. VT fans are unbearable, but I have to admit they show up and don't use expletives towards their own players. GO 'CANES.

I believe a national championship has little to do with the future performance of the team (obviously).

Fans have a right to speak their minds when they are not happy with the team's performance (just ask A-ROD). But blame should end first and foremost with the ship's captain. Larry Coker is:
1) a poor recruiter (28 S. Fla. players on Rutgers, please!), also no QB recruits in two years at the U...that is a disgrace!!!
2) a lousy motivator for young players (we can't understand a word he says in interviews, so how can the athletes understand him). Also, how else can you explain all those stupid penaties?
3) plays not to lose more than to win (example: he was afraid of using his last TO to challenge the GT interception, another example is not kicking an offisides kick at the end of that game)
4) uncreative (run up the middle again Larry, it's just not working)
5) unreactive to how how the game is going (no adjustments, just keep doing the same thing that is not working)
6) a poor judge of talent (why did it take 5 games to figure out Baby James was good and Charlie Jones runs into OL's backs?
7) consistently shows a lack of control for the team (after the games he says I wish we had done more of this or that...well, Larry you are in charge, why didn't you make them do more of this or that (ie. throw more to TE Olsen).

Bottom line: Larry will be fired at the end of the season. Paul Dee should resign, but will not. Shallaallalla should go back to stupid things like leaving the Big East (where we won 9 football conference titles) and now have none in the ACC (and will not for at least 3 more years now).

When will you guys just face it and admit that the Hokies aren't that bad. #3 defense isn't a fluke. You should respect that you got beat by a good team. Give Wright a chance, he'll work out for ya.

Yeah give eminem, I mean Kyle Wright, a chance. what did he ever do to you? Coker should get a 10 year extension as far as I'm concerned.

It's ashamed that things are getting this bad. Kyle's dad should not be getting into arguments with the fans. He should know that's part of the game, and he should not bring himself down to their level. I feel bad that the players have to put up with this. This has to do more about the coaches picking the right people, than the players that are in the game. After all, it was Coker's decision to start Kyle, and to stick with Kyle. You want to blame somebody, blame the coach. He is the one that makes the decision who plays and who doesn't. After seeing and hearing how bad things are getting,I wouldn't be surprise if not body wants to come to UM.

the canes are no longer the canes. this program doesn't have the grit or heart to take care of business. basically the entire football brain trust is out of control. they have no answers for the decline. the players are talented enough to be a one or 2 loss team... they just don't have the fire and game plans to let them be their best.... it's a shame I still love my boys and feel bad for them... GO CANES

thanks for posting that bit with kyle's dad, that has been the highlight of the year for me.....i live in kentucky and i never thought i'd see the day that i thought UK could beat the canes in football. uk's offense is so much better, better qb and wr's,it's unreal........after beating vatech last year, this has been the greatest freefall i've ever seen from a college football team......a cane till death, but BRING BACK THE ATTITUDE! WE HAVE BECOME EVERYTHING THAT WE USED TO PREY ON! THIS IS SAD.

UM you are having a bad season...get over it. Perhaps we can attribute this to loss of recruits due to Urban Meyer’s arrival in Gville (see what is going on in Tallanasty as well). I'm a VT grad and know that the U will be fine. I had this convo with my father who is a UM grad (and took his alumni plate off his car after the FIU fight). UM grads you have a great degree from a great school and your football team will be probably win a NTL championship in the next 5 years. The only problem is that you suffer fools easily. I did my first year of law school in S.Fla and was amazed at the people that were border line retarded (accompanied by horrible tempers) in the orange bowl. You all should require everyone who enters the stadium to name one building on the beautiful Coral Gables campus before they enter the stadium. I bet you would get rid of 90 percent of the cancer that is UM fans. If they want a pro team tell them to go watch the Heat. I know my idea is absurd but I respect UM and just wish there was a way to get rid of the idiot fans that couldn’t point out the ACADEMIC University of Miami on a map. But hey there also is no cure for cancer yet is there??...

Miami has not been able to make any adjustments during ANY of their scheduled games.
How can good coaches / coaching allow this to go on?

Team Leadership and good coaches are needed badly.

Run an add in the paper or whatever is needed but the passing game is terrible and the officesive line is worse than ever.

The Defense is playing better than they have in years.

Kyle Wright needs to play the next game in a tu-tu and have his feet glued in the pocket.

you know that is the problem, everyone is
always sticking up for Kyle, poor kid, all the talent in the world but no o line and no receivers and no running game, BS, he can't make a decision, stares down his receiver, never looks off, eats the ball for sacks in bad situations, doesn't throw it away, this kid is a bust, he deserves everything his critics are saying about him and more, isn't this the same kid just last week bashing coaches and teammates and pointing the finger talking about lack of focus, well guess what kyle everyone focused on you this weekend and you blew it again, have your dad hold your hand, walk you off the field and hopefully take you home to cali.......

please coker fire olson now, dee fire coker now, shalala fire dee now and then resign yourself, you have embarassed yourself and the U to many times this season, I agree with the fan boycott, why pay your hard earned money to watch a poor product, that is like spending 50K on a yugo, it just doesn't make sense

Go 'Canes

Question for Wright's daddy -Did you bother to mold your son into a real man instead of a scared gutless loser? We have seen courageous young men like Bernie Koser, Steve Walsh, and Ken Dorsey shine when faced with adversity. Mister, your boy does not have that quality.

I have been a Miami fan since I was kid, and what has been happening to this team is sad. I totally agree Coker needs to go. He has lost all control of his team. He makes bad game decisions, (Can anybody explain why the hell you don't throw a hail mary into the end zone at the end of VA Tech game? Even when they are at mid field? He doesn't evaluate the teams talent correctly. CAse in point, Devin Hester. How the hell was Devin Hester not starting somewhere when he played for the Canes? I live in Illinois and about a month ago they had a big story in the Chicago Sun-Times about Hester. Hester basically made it sound like how disapointed he had been game planned in the Miami scheme and they also had interviewed Deion Sanders and he talked about how Miami totally screwed up with Hester and that he should on the field somewhere. Being a UM fan this was very disappointing to hear, but it was so true. I wonder what the hell it would take to get Bobby Petrino out of Louisville?

For those who say what happens in the past has nothing to do with the current season, guess again. when miami was routed by lsu in the peach bowl, that took a lot out of your team going into the next season. all of the negativity surrounding your program is just adding more and more pressure on your team. if i was a player, why should i even give 100% if i know im going to be criticized whether i win or lose? if we win, it wont be good enough, if we lose..well we just suck because were miami and were still being coached by coker.

thats all i pretty much have heard from this entire column. i agree that coker needs to go. hes a good person but definitely not the caliber of coach miami is used to. butch davis wasnt even a great coach, just an excellent recruiter..and thats how miami won their last championship..off of davis' recruits. maybe if miami fans would pull their heads out of their asses and support their team, they might do better. i know i would rather play for a team who has fans show up for a game than a team who doesnt. come on, 41,000 showed up to play the obviously better, more unified Hokies. you guys just suck!

305 for life..HAHAHAHA

Its embarassing to hear that a father of a UM starter cant even get the recogintion of an administrator or coach to stand up for his son. More importantly the whole team. If they wont stand for one then they wont stand for any. That is horrible shameful and flat out the worst response to what has happened to the UM players. Staff, and directors should take a real hard look at what is the deciding factor in the problems that present themselves in Miami nowadays. And that look is in the mirror. All but the DC Randy Shannon and his staff are execptunal. They have produced year in and year out fine defensive units. Promote him to head coach and restructure that offensive staff. We can win with the players that we have. But its that damn game plan that allows other teams to get the jump on us. Sure we have had better QB's RB's WR's TE's OL'S. But its like the play that is called is the play the other team expects. They are all over our playbook. But we need is a nasty get in your face type of guy that can motivate and teach our young players that football is about playing with tenasity and reckless abandon. Hit the guys first before they hit you. Be the windsheild not the bug. A Bill Cowher type. Not him personally but a no nonsense guy to lead the helm for the next decade at the "U". I have been a canes fan all my life and a few tough years is not going to weaken my pride. CANES FAN NOW AND FOREVER..!!

Two offensive touchdowns in the last 35 offensive possessions. Do people understand how inept that is? It's not all the quarterback's fault, insert Rich Olson's name here, but you can't bench every starter on offense so Wright must sit. Give Kirby a chance and see what he can do. No way does Wright give you the best chance to win when it's obvious his confidence is shot.

Looks like moving to the ACC was the best thing to ever happen to you clowns. Stay classy, UM. Give John Swafford the Big East's regards.

a word to all of you non-um fans who are on here talking crap - SHUT UP! go find a post for your own team and post there. we don't care about your opinions, nor your stupidity. this is our team, and we will say what we think should be said. if you all don't like it, then get the hell off of this post and go somewhere else.

with that being said, it's this plain and simple - coker needs to go! i'm sick of people (non-um fans) talking about his spectacular record. if those bunch of idiots had half a brain, they would be able to look deeper into coker's success and see that it was a product of superior talent. true coaching is taking what you have and winning with it - not taking talent and wasting it with bad play calling, lack of preparation, and lack of motivation. besides, why should we be loyal to a coach who wasn't loyal to assistant who had been at the U for decades? joker showed his loyalty to them by firing them in order to cover his own butt! he has screwed the team up beyond recognition. get rid of him before he decides that he need to fire someone else (in order to cover his own butt - again) and run this program into a division 1-aa level program.

Just recruit a Quality QB
Promise him playing time immediately
New Wide Outs, and Give Hill a chance
Leggett is not Hot...
D is fine leave them alone, minus a real MLB
Taylor the offense towards a more mobile QB
Plan to lose out so we don't have to show our face in the Boise Bowl...I mean come on the U on Blue Turf....HHHHHHHHHellllll No.

Something has to be wrong with the UM offense. They have two very talented, highly recruited quarterbacks, and neither of them can play the offense as it is now.

Personally, I think there's too much thinking going on. These are talented athletes. Give them a couple of pointers and let them play. There's too much hesitation. Little things are exaggerated: done too deliberately.

I feel absolutely terrible about the treatment Kyle Wright and his father received, and if I'd been at the game, you'd be reading in the paper about me beating the living daylights out of some of those fans.

I do believe that at any other school, Kyle Wright, Kirby Freeman and a host of other Hurricane players are superstars. This just might kill the recruiting. What talented players will want to come to Miami to look stupid and get abusive language barfed up at them?

I hate to say it but Kyle Wright needs to be benched and Larry Coker Needs to be fired. Kyle Wright had one of his worst games ever on saturday night. He holds the ball to long and makes bad decisions. I never thought that there could be a quarterback at the U that was worse than Blockhead Berlin. Man was I WRONG. Brock Berlin was a model of inconsistency. Kyle Wright is consistently bad. Brock at least had some bright moments when the team was behind at he brought the back. I'm also not sold on Kirby Freemen either. He had a nice run but was lucky that Greg Olsen recovered the fumble he made at the end of that play. His interception pass looked horrible, like he just threw it up. The play calling is extremely predictable. How about doing something besides running the ball on first down. Maybe a pass to Olsen down the middle. I thought Rich Olsen was supposed to be innovative but I guess I was wrong again. Also when it is third and long I'd like to see more than a pass for 2 or 3 yards. I feel bad for other players on the team, especially the defense. They played phenomonally and held VT to 139 yards of offense and we still somehow managed to lose. I don't care what you say but it is extremely hard to hold a team with a good RB like Brandon Ore. I really feel bad for seniors like Brandon Meriweather who won't get another chance. There are some bright spots on offense especially at the RB position. Baby J and Tyrone Moss are very good dependable backs. Charlie Jones may be good at times but I don't think he has the necessary speed to be a star. I am really confused about why Derron Thomas isn't played more in our tandom of backs. Every time that he has been in this year he has been great. I just think Larry Coker has the guts to make big changes except for firing a bunch of coaches after the Peach Bowl which obviously didn't help much. We need a coach who isn't afraid to get angry and can clean house, one that wouldn't be afraid to start the best player even if he wasn't as highly recruited as the current starter. I respect Larry Coker as a person but he needs to GO.

Does any of Canes players or Coaches read any of these blogs...? I am hope they do specially that impersonator Larry and that worthless JV quaterback of his.I don't give a rat ass if we loose the remaining three games, the other kids should be giving a chance to show what he got....F--ck this Kyle guy. He is not our man nor he will ever be.Once this idiot leave the U, his jersey should be burnt then retired in shame.

Alright! Great job! Way to Go! OOOOPS, wrong week. :-)

I am a University of Miami alumnus (class of 1994), and I am a hardcore Miami Football fan, and I am thoroughly embarrassed by the treatment of Kyle Wright and his father at the Orange Bowl. There is no place in athletics for that behavior, especially from drunks who have probably never played a down of organized football. Kyle Wright is a fine representative of the University of Miami, and regardless of any shortcomings on the field this year, he is a classy student-athlete who should never be forced to endure such garbage. As a real Miami fan and Hurricane Club member, I am sorry Kyle and Mr. Wright that you were subjected to that disgusting situation.

First off, I've been a UM fan for 22 years. I live in SW FL, and I've been to countless games in the OB. I've been a fan during their late 80s/early 90s heyday, through their days on probation, all the way back to their return to dominance at the beginning of this millenium. I think I'm qualified to speak out about the situation as a fan giving his opinion.

It's been a long, long time since I've been this frustrated at the football team's performance. However, one thing is really bothering me this season (other than the 5-4 record). That is the lack of support and loyalty the fans are showing to the program.

I agree that something needs to be done to Coker and his staff. However, every potential replacement coach and recruit has to be watching this stuff unfold. I know if I were a star recruit, I'd probably think twice about playing for a school that can't fill up it's home stadium against a ranked rival. If I were a potential replacement coach, I'd probably think long and hard about the pressure at a school like UM, and what it takes to please the fans there. Like it or not, Coker has put up impressive #s. The media points that out and doesn't care if he did it with Butch Davis' recruits or his own, they still point out his impressive W/L record.

That being said, I still feel that Paul Dee and Larry Coker need to go. Coker-coached teams continue to get worse every year, and Coker recruits continue to regress and/or not improve every year. UM needs to cut ties and move on as quickly as possible before all the coaches/recruits are gone to other schools.

Another problem I have is the classless treatment of Kyle Wright's dad last week. What dad wouldn't stick up for his kid in that situation? Say what you want about Wright not living up to expectations or his predecessors. It's not all his fault. He's not being developed like his predecessors were, and like others here have already posted, QBs before him had much better teams around them. Kyle Wright has the tools to be great, they're just not being sharpened. I would be scared for my life if I were Wright, he get's less than 1 second on average to pass the ball and he's got receivers that have butter on their gloves and absolutely no heart (other than Shields). Wright and the RBs are the only bright spots on the offense.

I guess I'm saying all this to say that Miami fans need to "man-up" and support the team regardless. The cry-baby image UM fans have created this year is making us all look like fair weather fans.

Just my opinion, take it or leave it, I really don't care.

------------------------------------------
Go 'Canes.

The most amazing thing to me walking out of the game on Saturday was the way your fans were still talking trash...after losing. LOL. The OB is a rundown stadium and the UM "swagger" is a rundown myth. I hope you guys learn to truly support your team when they are down (by packing the stadium and actually yelling loud to make it an intimidating place to play), but trash talking when you get beat is flat out hysterical and not at all intimidating. We haven't been intimidated by UM for years and your trash talking is just that...trash. Until you actually get your swagger back...stop ACTING like you've got it. You may think that your jaws flapping about National Championships and NFL players means something, but it doesn't and it makes you look pitiful to the rest of the country who actually lives in the present...not the past. On second thought, living in the past might not be such a bad idea for you guys.

Miami sickens me--NOT the team--THIS F$$$ing spoiled city of losers who only support champions. Try living at Rutgers for upteen years and see how that feels. just one undefeated season and a million losing ones and you would understand. It does not mean we have to expect less, no. We expect and demand the best but to crucify good men and fine collegians who try their best is disgusting. We as a city ought to be ashamed and apologize to the university, its foot staff and players. Most of the ones who yell never even played. Get a life losers or better yet, move to New Jersey and root for Rutgers and watch them have a lousy season next year and be pissed off there.

I'm glad to see reason is beginning to dominate this forum. The worst part of this season is not the losses (as painful as they may be) but many of the fans' reactions. When the going has gotten tough, many of the so-called fans have got going. Many of these so-called fans either don't show up or, if they do, act in such an incredibly boorish manner towards their own team that it's a national embarrassment. Sure fans have the right to express their displeasure. I get that. But is it necessary to use expletives towards your own players? Is it necessary to berate the parent of one of the players? A true fan would not do these things. You can express your displeasure with the play and team in a responsible way. Then again, you can man up and support the team, even in the tough times.
I implore all true 'Canes fans to do the following: 1) severely berate any fair-weather fans you know, 2) show up to games and cheer on the team no matter what, when the player are down, pick them up, 3) have confidence that the sky is not falling but this very young team will be better next year, 4) come together as fans and simply enjoy the games for the fun spectacle of competition that it is.
Please 'Canes fans, come together and the world will turn. GO 'CANES!

P.S.
There are a lot of Hokies posting here. Let me tell you that most Hokie fans are a colossal pain in the arse. No one likes them because they talk a lot of smack even though they've only had 2 or 3 really good years. They are more annoying than the French, trust me on this.
