In any team there's always one or two guys who perform lousy in practice yet brilliant on game day..How do you think this regime will handle those types of players?

Q: Manny are you still standing by your previous 9-3 record. Posted by: Deameanor | August 28, 2007 at 08:10 PM

A: Yes. I still think this team is capable of going 9-3. I didn’t the quarterback decision would alter it considering these guys in my eyes are neck and neck.

Manny ,can the guys answer questions now about camp and what their feel is on things or are they still being told to be quiet.

Q: Kylan is 2nd at WLB, Is he another DJ Williams is the making? Posted by: CANE4LIFE | August 28, 2007 at 08:15 PM

A: It's hard to say Cane4life considering we haven't been able to see him in practice. Let's wait to see him in a few games. I think the fact he's second at weakside linebacker, though, should tell you what the coaching staff thinks of him.

Wut they do Manny

Why is Lovon Ponders job not a lock? And why is Chavez Grant not on the depth chart?

With Randy's coaching style of best prepared plays, could Marve if he is ready and I am thinking he will, could he unseat Kirby next year?

Manny or Susan,

In your opinion, was Nix successful at GT as OC? Did he coach above his ability with Reggie Ball? GTer's sound like they are happy he is gone. I think Nix is going to be awesome. He did great with what he had to work with at GT.

Q: In any team there's always one or two guys who perform lousy in practice yet brilliant on game day..How do you think this regime will handle those types of players? Posted by: Alex | August 28, 2007 at 08:16 PM

A: I don't think Shannon would tolerate it. Those guys wouldn't be allowed on the field to shine. Randy would not tolerate it.

Manny ,my question earleir was can interviews be done now since the starters have been named ,or is there still a gag on.

Manny..can you tell us how many or a percentage of these players, especially 1st and 2nd team guys who have played in or won any championship in high school? Because last year, those guys (particularly offense)tend to fold quickly under pressure.

Manny,
Have you broken down Marshall at all? What are there strengths? What do you expect out of Miami offensively?

Thanks Manny....

Q: Manny ,can the guys answer questions now about camp and what their feel is on things or are they still being told to be quiet. Posted by: Deameanor | August 28, 2007 at 08:18 PM

A: Shannon said the quarterbacks would be made available to the media from now on.

Where do you believe Sam Shields fits in? What did he do?

I almost forgot. I thought i read somewhere that Kyle has sour grapes and didn't answer to the media after the announcement was made. Is this true? and whats your feeling on this situation

Any words on the walking wounded ,and do you believe injuries played a part in these decisions today .

Q: Wut they do Manny? Why is Lovon Ponders job not a lock? And why is Chavez Grant not on the depth chart? Posted by: cubancane | August 28, 2007 at 08:20 PM

A: Ponder's job is not a lock because he got injured during camp and apparently Willie Cooper worked hard enough to earn some playing time. As for Chavez, Shannon said if Miami lines up in the nickel package, Grant would be the starter. Chavez is the starting nickelback.

Manny
Do you see Miami running the option in this offense? Exactly what kind of offense those Nix runs?
What Kind of coach is Nix? Is he a coach that will try to adjust to the player, or the player has to adjust to him?

Q: With Randy's coaching style of best prepared plays, could Marve if he is ready and I am thinking he will, could he unseat Kirby next year? Posted by: CANE4LIFE | August 28, 2007 at 08:20 PM

A: Susan says she think anything is possible with Randy. He has shown he will play the person he thinks deserves the position, regardless if they are stars or walkons.

And is Susan still standing by her record of 9-3 because of the named starter at QB.

Q: Where do you believe Sam Shields fits in? What did he do? Posted by: roachcane77 | August 28, 2007 at 08:22 PM

A: Susan and I agree he's probably the most talented receiver at UM right now. What he did to get suspended? We don't know. But when he returns, he could eventually become the No. 1 receiver on the team.

Is Jacory there?

What happened to Kayne I thought he would get a chance to at least return punts. I had high hopes for him. I hope this does not affect his drive to succeed I remember the story you did awhile back, I would hate to see him fade into the bench.

OK. I'll finish answering the rest of the questions later. I'm calling Jacory Harris now.

Q: Could u ask Jacory what he thinks of coach Nix and how he'll do as a play caller this season? Thanks in advance guys. Posted by: Aqua | August 28, 2007 at 05:03 PM

A: Jacory says... I think coach Nix is a great person because of the things he did at Georgia Tech. He has a great history as an offensive coordinator. I think he’ll take all the things he did GT and make everything happen. I love the way he calls plays. He always calls plays to put the defense in situations they can’t get out of, mismatches. That’s the scheme I like. I don’t have a playbook yet, but I’ve seen everything they run and its going to be exciting this year.

Manny is the first game for MNW this weekend against CC.

Q: Who is the frontrunner for your Elite 11 teammate Star Jackson? Is it true that he loves the U? Would you welcome his possible commitment and competition at QB. Posted by: Zakkee | August 28, 2007 at 05:49 PM

A: I would welcome him as a part of the UM team because he’s a great person. He’s one of my homeboys. We’ve been having fun together, going to Elite 11. No matter where I go, I’m still going to have to compete anywhere I go. So, its no problem with me. But from what I heard, he had committed to Alabama. At least that's what he said at the Elite 11 camp.

Manny does Jacory mind being redshirted next yr .

Q: Jacory, are all the 'West commits to the U strong, including yourself? What's up with Streeter? And what do you think about the Booker T kids, namely Harris? Posted by: Tony | August 28, 2007 at 06:10 PM

A: Right now I don’t know what’s up with Streeter. He has his own mind set on announcing on Signing Day. All the commitments are real strong is because that’s what we talk about every day. All we say is about going down there and win four national championships. With Brandon, he’s leaning toward UM, but there are a lot of guys after him – especially after what he did Saturday. I think he did great in that game to hold the No. 1 receiver in the nation down, even though Aldarius Johnson is really the No. 1 receiver in the nation.

Manny, ask Jacory what he thinks about the move to Dolphin Stadium.

At any of these camps did you get any ideas anyone else was leaning to the U ,any position type players.

Manny...ask Jacory to comment on Southlake defence. What he expects to see and how he has prepared.

What happened to Tyrone Moss? Is he in the league now? What do you think is going to happen with Charlie Jones if James and Cooper play 95% of the time?

Q: Manny...ask Jacory what he thinks about the BTW receivers (Johnson, Collier) he will be throwing to at the U and how they compare to AJ at MNW. Also, please have him talk about what he feels are the three greatest strengths he brings to the QB position? Posted by: 86Cane | August 28, 2007 at 06:40 PM

A: I think the Booker T. receivers the way they compare to Aldarius is that they got great hands. But Aldarius is way bigger. They are more slot guys. A quick pass, and they're gone. The BTW guys are way faster than Aldarius. Especially, Davon, he runs a 4.25! The three greatest strengths I bring are my smartness, accuracy, arm strength – most people don’t think my arm is that strong (I can throw it 72 yards and that was in 9th grade).

Q: Hey Manny ,ask Jacory if any of the guys read any of the blogs about the canes. Posted by: Deameanor | August 28, 2007 at 07:05 PM

A: We read everything about the Canes, but we try not to get too into it yet because we are still in our season. But we love UM. We watch all the game. I even threw up The U sign in the kickoff classic. Big Brandon Washington too.

Not a question--I just want to wish Jacory and his teammates good luck in their clash with that Carrol team in Texas.

Q: Manny does Jacory mind being redshirted next yr. Posted by: Deameanor | August 28, 2007 at 08:37 PM

A: Yes I do mind. I want to make sure me and Robert Marve have even time to compete. I'm just going to go in and try my best to compete. The only way I'd redshirt medically. I think they're going to keep three quarterbacks anyway, me, Kirby and Robert anyway.

Q: At any of these camps did you get any ideas anyone else was leaning to the U ,any position type players. Posted by: Deameanor | August 28, 2007 at 08:39 PM

A: We may have an offensive tackle who could be leaning to the U who was a defensive end. But mainly, offensive tackle is his position. But I'm not going to say his name. I got to keep something secret.

Manny, Do you have any clue how money you've been since O' moved on? Q&As, great interviews, endless stream of information, and embracing canesspace...Great job brother!!

Jacory
Do you have any personal goals for this season? Which defense are you looking foward to play against?

Matt Patchan!!!!

Manny ask Jacory how/if the coach change has changed the team in any way. Has it made them closer as a team, now that they have national attention both negative and postive.

What I want is a guarantee...
These kids, particularly the quarterbacks, have been saying since the Spring that "this is a team effort", "it's all about the team", "the team's goals", etc. I want to know that these kids aren't just saying what they've been told to say. I want them to believe in the team. BELIEVE in the TEAM. That is the only way that all of their talking points, Randy's quiet behavior, the outward expression of happiness of a Kirby completion that Kyle exudes...I want to know it's genuine.

Q: Manny...ask Jacory to comment on Southlake defence. What he expects to see and how he has prepared. Posted by: CANE4LIFE | August 28, 2007 at 08:40 PM

A: I'm expecting to see a 30 front defense. Belle Glade plays that same kind of defense. Carol City kind of runs the same. It's like 3 down line man with both of the guards uncovered. But I'm prepared for any other defense they give me. I test myself against everything. I watch film, write down the plays they run and put in other possibilties they could give us against that coverage so I could more prepared for what they throw out there. My quarterback coach Christopher Perkins taught me that.

Jacory,
After whom do you model your style, or do you feel the way you play the game is unique, and if so, why is that?
- CVS

Jacory what happened at that jamboree game ,what was that score ,i know it was a jamboree game but you guys let them score 41 on you.

Q: How much weight has Jacory gained this offseason? Posted by: Jake | August 28, 2007 at 10:42 AM

A: Right now I weigh 191. I started the summer at 182. I was weighing 176 last season. I’ve been basically lifting more weights and go home and do pushups and situps everynight. About 300 situps and 200 pushups every night. I eat more. I used to just eat lunch and dinner. Now I eat three meals. I’m eating more too.

Q: Jacory. Do you have any personal goals for this season? Which defense are you looking foward to play against? Posted by: norm | August 28, 2007 at 08:47 PM

A: My goal is to break all my records and not just think about me, but to lead my team to a national title and not just a state title. I love winning. If I have bad night, I'm OK as long as we win. The defense I'm looking forward to is Central because we have a coach that came from over there and I just want to beat them period. They talk the most.

Q: Jacory, Are you disapointed that you won't have an opportunity to play a college game in the OB?

Q: Manny ask Jacory how/if the coach change has changed the team in any way. Has it made them closer as a team, now that they have national attention both negative and postive. Posted by: CANE4LIFE | August 28, 2007 at 08:48 PM

A: It made us real close because the coaches have brought us closer. The fact they didn't want to change anything and we taught them everything -- we were the teachers and they were the students -- and they were willing to learn everything, there's no animosity or nothing. It's like we never lost our coaches.
