A little more about Stanford

Hey guys,

Andre Fernandez back here in my 5th day from Omaha.

Just got back to the hotel after driving around the city.

With a few hours left before Miami takes on Stanford, I just wanted to give you guys a little more info on the Cardinal for those that don't know much about what the U will have to deal with to keep the dream alive.

A pitching update, looks like Austin Yount will not be the starter today. Erik Davis continues to look like the best bet since he hasn't pitched yet. Left-hander Jeremy Bleich (3-2, 1.02 ERA) would be the other. He already threw an inning against FSU, but he was their ace at the start of the season before getting hurt and missing the majority of it. He came back in their regional.

The top guys Enrique Garcia will have to contend with are C Jason Castro (.379, 14 HR, 72 RBI), CF Sean Ratliff (.293, 21 HR, 69 RBI), 2B Cord Phelps (.345, 13 HR, 55 RBI).

I know everyone is wondering which Carlos Gutierrez will show up if he's called in to protect the lead. The one that was dominant most of the season, or this alter-ego that Canes fans want to burn at the steak...I mean stake. Sorry, clear sign I'm in Omaha.

But the true key to this game, in my opinion, is Garcia.

If he performs the way he has recently and shuts down this powerful lineup, I don't see why UM can't get the bats going and get just enough runs to advance.

UM's lone senior, as he said yesterday, needs to "get UM to Friday."

Jemile Weeks and Blake Tekotte have homered in each game so far, and Yonder can tie the UM single-season record for HRs if he hits one more. Sad part is he should already have it since 2 were wiped out in a rain out vs. Wake Forest.

Go canes!! 1st

"Can you image what Miami would do to them if we had the fan support, money and facilities?"......Ummmmmm NO!!!!

The nations most notorious fair weather fans (200+ attending your first NCAA b-ball tournament game appearance in 6 years), Paul Dee draining the bank account, offering free football tix with a test drive to make up for it, then throwing in the towel, and on top of it all, mooching off the Phin's to play your home games 20+ miles from campus.

KEEP IMAGINING!!!! WHATEVER IT TAKES TO COMPENSATE FOR DUHHHHH U's REALITY.

Meanwhile, UM coach Randy Shannon said he is "gathering more information" on the Saturday arrest of linebacker Zach Kane, who was charged with aggravated assault for breaking a bottle over the head of another teenager at a party in New Jersey.

Wait one second here? Why does Randy need to gather information? I thought his firm handshake policy was automatic dismissal for any player arrested, no investigation or police involvement required.

Sounds like fans of Duhhhh U and the media have been lied to once again as they bought into Randy's BS!!!

"How did that number one class UM signed affect you?"

Not one bit considering we have had a CONSENSUS Top 3 Class the past three consecutive years. If recruiting was a beauty pagent, ESPN would drop Miami's supposed top recruiting ranking to a sub-Top 12 rank as several recruits will not qualify.

FYI - the Gators qualified their entire class.

Looks like Randy is learning the pitfalls of locking down Quantity over Quality the hard way. That's what happens when you land the most 2-Star Recruits in the nation.

Taylor Cook, the top dual threat QB recruit in the country as proclaimed by one asinine fan of Duhhhh U who has no idea who Terrelle Pryor is, may end up leaving Duhhhh U or at best case scenerio changing posistions.

Looks like Cook is well on his way to riding the pine or at least being branded as the top dual-threat punter in the nation.

"Anyway, basketball and football U will be where baseball is in the next two years"........

Yes - losing to SEC teams.

Bottom of the barrel on the pay scale. No wonder why Duhhhhh U had to cremate the Orange Bowl and never had any money for renovations.

UF will pay a $600,000 guarantee to Hawaii for its Aug. 30 game against the Warriors and $450,000 to the Citadel for the Nov. 22 game. UF will pay $400,000 to Miami when it visits Nov. 6.

Based upon these numbers even if you had paying fans actually show up it wouldn't have helped.

The Orange Bowl was owned by the City of Miami. The University of Miami was a tenant and did in fact offer to come up with tens of millions of dollars to help the City renovate the OB. But don't let facts get in the way of your endless rants.

It must be exciting to troll another teams blog under a fake name and type insults. Bravo for you!

modest projection: UM to quadruple income ...
SWEETHEART DEAL

Hey moron when is the last time THE U lost to the 1985 SEC Champ Gators, by the way do U still have that license plate too? How many games did the gators loose last year? Heisman and all. Last time I was in G ville we took over the entire town after the U spanked the Gates. Big difference between a private institution and a state institution and in this case the private school just raised 1.4 BILLION dollars over the past 5 years. How much did UF raise? Right douchbag! Get ready for a biiiggg suprise in september. Gator tears will flow once again. At the U we take our lumps like men and move back onto stardom. We are a football factory and have been for 20 years thats right how bout Florida? lets see if you show up to blog after we kick your gator ass in september in your own back yard. By the way Shannon has built a WALL around the most fertile county in the nation! Good luck Urban and nation see ya in september.

canesrule aka dumbassgator you are wasting your breath because nobody reads this blog anyway and if they do nobody really gives a good fugg what you have to say anyway!

AU CONTRAIRE

"WORLD-CLASS".......charged with aggravated assault for breaking a bottle over the head of another teenager.

"SWEETHEART DEAL"..... still pitching season tix for $199 months after they went on sale.

"Heisman and all".... clueless in all. Tebow plays on offense, not on defense. I suggest you learn to differentiate between the two. I noticed many fans of Duhhhh U are still working on this.

"Last time I was in Gville we took over the entire town"..... me and the eight other U fans who actually traveled oustide of the 305 area code to watch a game. Right douchbag!

"Get ready for a biiiggg suprise in september".... the only minor surprise to me will be if the Canes actually score, otherwise the board will read 0:00, score 0-52.

"At the U we take our lumps like men and move back onto stardom".... I wouldn't call going 5-7 with our 4th choice coach after a 6-6 season with a 1 point win over Nevada stardom.

We are a football factory".....correction, we were a football factory back in the early 80' when we were known as Quarterback U. It just doesn't have the same ring to it when our QB's combine for 15 TDs and 20 INTs.

"Lets see if you show up to blog after we kick your gator ass in september in your own back yard" ..... it is true, no matter how absurd, if you repeat it enough times it becomes your own false reality.

"By the way Shannon has built a WALL around the most fertile county in the nation!".......as well as landed the most 2-Star Recuits in the nation and just lost 4 - 5 players who failed to qualify.

"You are wasting your breath because nobody reads this blog anyway".... I mean it's entitled Eye on The U, a dead give away that no one knows how to read this blog anyway.

season tix START at $199 ...
FAMILY PLAN

since 2000, UM (26) produced more 1st-rounders than f$u (13) & fu (8) combined ...
FACTORY

I mean it's entitled Eye on The U, a dead give away that no one knows how to read this blog anyway.

Private $chool v. public skool

what time is the game tonight?

thanks green i appreciate it...

CANES 4 LIFE

Canesrule,

Stop with your ridiculous chatter...comparing a state school with a private school that majority of graduates each year are from out of state and move back when they graduate. Not like other state school's in Florida that graduate a heck of a lot more kids and a high percentage stay within driving distance of gameday. Large majority of college graduates in South Florida didn't graduate from Miami so what affiliation do they have...NONE! Most Miami fans just grew up in the area and have no ties to want to spend the money and travel with the team or even go to a game on Saturday because so much more to do. If you have no affiliation = other things are more important.

With that being said before graduates of UCF, USF, etc. that grew up in South Florida, that were Miami fans, couldn't root for their college because they didn't have a team so continued to root for Miami. Now, that school that they put money into has a team that is where their heart and money is.

This is the way most private schools are for the exception of a couple. So stop with the fan support thing it's an old excuse, that obviously has never slowed us down or affected any of our games.

Now, go to your Gator blog and once again stop showing us all that you have no life by coming on a U of Miami blog! Yes, I can't wait for Sep. 6th when Miami shocks the world!!!!!!!

If you had any legit points, maybe, I would respect you a little more!

GO CANES!!!!!

The cluelessness continues.....

"FAMILY PLAN"....signing 7 players from the same school soley because of a pre-established relationship with their former unethical SOB coach, but only having 4 or 5 actually qualify.

"FACTORY" (of bowl game losses) ...... being a proud member of the 12 Team ACC Conference that only has won a combined single BCS Bowl Game between them since it's inception in 1998.

So now the fact that Duhhhh U can't fill stadiums even when tickets are free is being blamed on the theory that other universities started football programs and drew your fans away!

Wow! Now that's original.

So who do you think sports fans whom live in Duval County but never attended college root for during the college football season?

That is as good as the default comeback from Cane fans that the Gators lost 4 games in 2007 "even with the Heisman trophy winner", ie see above.

Oblivious to the fact the Gators played the 2007 season with youngest D-I roster in the entire nation and lost 9 defensive starters from 2006.

A 4 point loss to the National Champion LSU Tigers because they converted five 4th Down conversions.

A 12 point loss to AP #2 Georigia because Knowshon Moreno ran it for 188 yards.

A 3 point loss to AP #15 Auburn because they drove the length of the field against the Gator D and kicked a game winning field with no time on the clock.

Not sure if any fans at Duhhhh U remember what a bowl game is, but a 6 point bowl game loss to AP #18 Michigan because the secondary allowed Henne to toss it for 370+ yards.

Notice the trend here..... not one loss was attributable to our offense. For clarification purposes, the offense is the side of the ball that the Heisman winner played on. Also note, every loss was to a Top 20 Team and that the Gators are returning with the Heisman winner as well as his most serious competitor for votes in the East.

The Canes had a 65+ Rank at season's end. I would ask you to do the math here, but if Shannon and his 26 hours in a day are any indication, chances are you can't.

So which univeristy do you plan on enrollng in an on-line correspondance course with so you can root for another team besides Duhhhhh U?

Canes beat Stanford, like the Celts beat the Lakers...

Jim Morris is an idiot. He always makes the wrong calls at the wrong times. All those 1st round draft picks have million dollar signs in their eyes and could care less about winning the national championship, they got theirs.

Ahh, fair enough. Stanford played great tonight. I wish our bats would have woken up before the 8th inning. The Canes team we saw in the CWS was clearly not the one that we had seen all season long. As for tonight, our defense really got us. BUT, unlike the team, I do not see this season as a failure AT ALL. They had the best record, consensus #1 ranking going into the CWS, CWS #1 national seed, 3 first round draft picks, ACC champions.... These things do not happen by chance. You guys are great and you all have extremely bright futures ahead of you. GO CANES!

I am sorry. I just had a flashback of one of UM's killing of my gators.

I take it up the rear and I am a manure smelling gator.
