So much for the possibility of defensive ends Eric Moncur or Allen Bailey playing at all against Charleston Southern. According to the injury report released moments ago by the University of Miami, both will be out for Thursday's season's opener.
Perhaps, more eye-opening, though, is right tackle Reggie Youngblood who is listed as doubtful with a head injury. Expect Chris Rutledge to start in Reggie's place if he can't go.
Here's the complete list released by the U:
> Probable: OL Tyrone Byrd (leg), RB Javarris James (leg), S Anthony Reddick (leg), RB Derron Thomas (chest)
> Doubtful: Youngblood (head), S Lovon Ponder (shoulder).
> Out: Bailey (chest), OL Chris Barney (leg), DT Josh Holmes (leg), OL Ben Jones (leg), DE Eric Moncur (leg).
> Surgery/Out for the season: WR Tommy Streeter (arm)

Hate to see so many guys (Youngblood, Moncur, Bailey) listed on the injury report. But at least it's Charlston Southern and hopefully by next week, UM will be back to a full squad as they prepare to give the Gators HELL for 4 Quarters. Let the chips fall where they lay and the best team win. If that happens then those boyz (fans as well)should be able hold their heads up high and prepare for an ACC Title.

Whats up with Ben Jones?

Q: Whats up with Ben Jones? Posted by: Canesjunkie | August 26, 2008 at 03:20 PM
A: It's called a redshirt. Seriously, though, he's been walking around with crutches. I wouldn't consider it a big loss. All lineman usually need a year of redshirting.

Manny, Any word on What type of head injury Youngblood has?

A: First anyone I think has heard of it. I spoke to Reggie last Friday morning and he was fine. Must have been something that happened within the last three days. Likely a concussion or something of that nature.

How can you watch the game other than going and espn360.com?

I am with you on that one Mr Miami. I will be looking for a good sports bar to sit and watch the game Thursday night. I'd much rather sit at home an watch it but my internet provider doesn't offer ESPN360. I hope I get to watch it some where if not I guess I will have to wait to next weekend.
Posted by: AtlantaCane | August 26, 2008 at 04:11 PM
Manny...any more news, on Streeter's surgery?

AC - I don't think it's on Gameplan. No sports bar is going to have it. I checked Direct TV's Gameplan schedule, and they don't start until Saturday.

www.channelsurfing.net is supposed to have the game.

cubancane, I went to the site but how does it work?
Posted by: Mr. Miami | August 26, 2008 at 04:46 PM
Manny...with the suspensions and injuries combined how many total players will NOT play on Saturday?
Is it as many as 15-19 players that may NOT play Saturday?
7 Suspended
8 Out with injuries
4 Probable with injuries
15-19 players???

If anyone has a family member or friend at a major university, you can get espn360 with their user name and password. Most major universities have subscriptions to almost everything. Go to the school's homepage and download the VPN (way signing on their server through an off-campus site). If you log in through that, espn360 should work.
Posted by: Chris | August 26, 2008 at 04:53 PM
wow so much for that I guess. Yeah I was looking to see if it would be on game tracker but no luck there either.
Posted by: AtlantaCane | August 26, 2008 at 04:56 PM
Chris, I go to Broward College is that okay?
Posted by: Mr. Miami | August 26, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Where's the VPN?
Posted by: Mr. Miami | August 26, 2008 at 05:00 PM
Hey I have an idea how about someone just post a member name on the blog to ESPN360 so we can all watch lol.
Posted by: AtlantaCane | August 26, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Manny
When Marve, Jacory, and Cannon Smith go out for dinner do they split the bill or just hand the check to Cannon Smith every time and charge it to fedex? I hope Marve and Jacory at least make "the reach" for the wallet and Cannon just picks up the tab anyway.
Posted by: g-man | August 26, 2008 at 05:02 PM
Manny... Sometimes no news is good news...
When I said, I wanted to here all of the news... good or bad. I wasn't prepared for just the bad news.
How about posting some good news for a change or balance some of it out... Like you just saw Jacory practicing in his 500 pound gorilla suit for the game. LOL
Come on buddy... Just give us something positive... LOL

AtlantaCane, I thought it has nothing to do with membership but your internet provider.
Posted by: Mr. Miami | August 26, 2008 at 05:11 PM
AC - I've been looking all week, and so far no luck. The ATL hurricane club is not having a watch party until 9/6 and I assume they were looking as well. I'm not going to give up though, if you find somewhere in ATL to watch - Crown/Heineken/Jager on me!!!
See ya 9-6-08 in Canesville! Go Canes!

Manny,
...Havn't heard much about recruiting in the last week or two. I thought things were beginning to heat up. Any movement, or is it still too early to expect much?
Posted by: ShaneFromMiami | August 26, 2008 at 05:34 PM
Mr Miami, you are correct. I will be able to receive ESPN 360 because AT&T is my internet provider and AT&T provides this service to all its patrons

MR. Dau
Ahhhhh pardon me Boss, May I have your permission to say something constructive as to your last post concerning your power and authority over this site... You need to lighten up Big Boy.
Last I checked, Manny was walking down main street, wearing the badge and he doesn't like trouble makers coming in his town, bullying people.
Be Cool Bro... Find a palm tree and stay in the breeze.

and I'm hoping that I'm not the only one to comment on your self appointed position of Custodian for the Herald.

Agreed with Cat5. Both Green and DAU use to contribute something to this blog. Now all they do is wait for 86 to comment to say something negative. It's old. Get over yourselves and move on. You both don't speak for me, for this fan base, nor for the herald.
Back on topic: Nothing but bad news already starting this season. Let's hope none of this distracts our boys when preparing for and playing the turds next week.

I can't wait to see what all of this new talent can do!!! I hope our offense can put up some points and get some confidence going into the next game.
Atlanta Hurricanes Club is really cool...I used to live there and always enjoyed going to see the games with that group.
Posted by: Canesjunkie | August 27, 2008 at 02:45 PM
So we're supposed to believe that this team led by freshman QBs with no game experience and a brutal schedule will be better than any of the Kyle/Kirby teams of the last 4 years ?? Keep dreaming, because a .500 record is at least 2 years away.
CSU wins 24- 17
How many games will Shannon survive, 3 or 4 before getting canned ??

Mr. Miami: I have a suggestion as to how you can watch the game other than on ESPN 360 ----BUY A TICKET!@@#&#!
This is why we can only get 30,000 fans to the games... some fans.
Posted by: Canes1 | August 28, 2008 at 01:40 AM
Atlanta Cane fans...I called the Ale House in Alpharetta and they say that they are showing the game...Also, a place called Norm's Olde Mille Steakhouse on Savoy Dr. off of Peachtree Industrial is showing the game!
