Wylie cleared, Marti waiting, LT talk

I decided to take the day off today since the Canes weren't practicing, but got a text message earlier this evening while I was out at dinner that coach Randy Shannon said another freshman had been cleared.

Defensive back Joe Wylie of Boyd Anderson is supposed to be arriving at UM tomorrow according to what Shannon said on Hurricanes Hotline Thursday night. That means there is only one freshman who has yet to report, linebacker Brandon Marti. I know Marti's family and have been told that he recently received a phone call from Shannon within the last 48 hours telling him he should be cleared soon (hopefully by next week).

Earlier this afternoon, I got a phone call from former Canes great Lamar Thomas. I'll share the details of it with you tomorrow.

1st!

Good job Wylie, welcome aboard.

glad to see Wylie finally get in. looking forward to Marti being there too.

back to back 3rds

I take it that's Hurricane Hotline on WQAM..

Whadda U know, Joe?!! Welcome aboard Mr. Wylie. It's great to see a B.A. Cobra playing for Da U. It's late in the game, but I know U will get in when you are ready and make a contribution. Again, congratulations on officially being a Cane!!

Day off from practice??? WTF, didn't we go 5-7 last year! They better be working on some game plans or something.

Doesn't look like Allen Bailey will make it to opening day. Oh well, important thing is that he makes a full recovery.

Very glad to see Wylie on board. The more DB's, the better. They're gonna be busy this year, getting winded from all the interception returns for touchdowns. We're gonna have to rotate them around to keep them fresh. Can't run a 50 yard interception back for a touchdown and then turn around and play the next series, after all.

Manny,

What's the deal with CJ Odom. I heard he's back in Ft. Myers and not at Milford Prep. Do you know why?

You wanna be a Cane so bad its killin you. Sorry we dont accept bandwagon jumpers.

It's funny, people must be getting scared of Miami. They can't stay off our boards. Your like the little girls on the playground who acts like she hates the little boys. When in reality she just has a crush on them. Tool! Thats why you don't see Miami fans all over the Gator forums. Get a life little girl.

Tell them green.

"It's funny, people must be getting scared of Miami."

NO ONE is scared of Miami. NO ONE !! Why would anyone be? They have been steadily declining for YEARS.

Cane fan that talks about other teams "fearing" UM is just an out of touch living in the past MORON.

NO ONE FEARS AN ACC DOORMAT

Here's a free tip "Green". Try to type an actual sentence, if you can.

SHOVE IT.

I love that so many hate the Canes enough that they devote so much of their time on a daily basis just to express it anonymously under so many different pseudonyms. That really takes alot of persistence and determination. You have to admire character like that.

'I love that so many hate the Canes"

NO ONE hates the Canes. Maybe in the ancient good ole days when the canes actually won games. Don't flatter yourself.EVERYONE laughs at the Canes.

ACC DOORMAT

Manny have you heard anything on Alonso?
This is the last day he can sign...If he doesn't he will play one more year at the U...Which would be great but i doubt it...

Peace!

In any event, I certainly appreciate the fact that you spend so much of your time on a daily basis under multiple anonymous pseudonyms to remind our fellow blog/forum readers of that. It warms my heart to think that out of all the important and meaningful things in life such as family, work, and recreation, that it means enough to you to devote so much of your time, energy, and attention towards the University of Miami. Bravo to you!

thanks Monts. We should have a beer and celebrate UF's CRUSHING Of the DOORMAT ACC Canes. Send me your email.

No thanks to the email exchange, at least not in public. I get enough emails from Nigeria, ads for ED pills, enticements to p*rn sites, etc.

In all seriousness, there is some basis for some of the things you say repeatedly everyday, but why are you here? Don't you have more rewarding and positive things to do than endlessly proclaim that Miami S*CKS an they are the ACC DOORMAT? It seems to me that would get boring and repetative after awhile.

We all get that you don't like UM and you think our fans are living in the past, that Coach Shannon is a failure and is going to be fired, etc. Got it.

There's another Gator fan (James) over on the Sun-Sentinel blogs who posts in the Miami forums on a daily basis. He's a practical, factual guy and creates good dialogue.

I am assuming you are a college football fan, wouldn't you rather talk football with other fans in a mature manner rather than all this juvenile name calling and negativity?

Isn't it time for past glory to go to the store and buy its mom a carton of cigarettes?

I love this moron's never ending posts; he's all the proof you need that bandwagon gaytor fans are VERY worried about the Canes. The supposed worst team on the planet occupies his every thought??? Insecurity at its finest.

We don't need to worry about whether Robert Marve or Jacory Harris is going to be the nect starting QB at the University of Miami. According to ESPN, both have decided to forgo their eligibility without ever having thrown a pass in a college game, and are now playing for the MIAMI DOLPHINS.

Also according to ESPN, former University of Miami headcoach Randy Shannon is now the headcoach of the Miami Dolphins, despite a 5-7 record in his only year while holding that title

Thanks to ESPN for the breaking news...

that guy spends WAY to much time in his mothers basement!!!

that would be typical of a Gators fan... counting the chickens before they hatch... didn't we hear that the last time UM/UF played... hell, i heard it all they way up until the beginning of the fourth quarter before UM scored 28 consecutive points with Brock Berlin none-the-less...

past glory present story,

I'd call you an assshole, but that would be an insult to asssholes everywhere.

And with all your complaining, nobody is forcing you and yours, to stay in this racist country.

Posted by: M.H. | August 15, 2008 at 05:22 PM

86...you allow racists posts on Canespace ?

This is what 86 condones:

solar, when i was coming up, what you got to realize is that around the time the Hurricanes became prominent, you gotta realize the life and times we were in, in america, it's not about just football and what you term false bravado, it was about guys finally getting a chance to represent their city and showcase to the world the type of football and people we actually were at that time.

The way we play football is the way we lived life and often times were forced to live life, and football was our outlet. By now you already know the shannon story, but guess what, you know how mnay guys on the team back than and even now have a life story like shannon's some even worse, but this is the stuff that don't get published and ask yourself when have you ever seen them do a story like that on a HURRICANE player while he was actually playing the game during his college days, why didn't they do a story on shannon while he was playing at UM or any other player, they always did it for other college teams but ask why not Miami, i'll tell you why, because damyum near the whole team had a story similar or worse so you couldn't pick out or single out 1 guy, next, guys didn't want the whole country knowing their business and lastly, the media didn't want nobody feeling no type of sympathy for anybody or anything Miami.

So when we got out their on that field, all our frustrations were taking out on the other team, so we dominated them with the same mindset you had to have out on the streets of DADE and Broward counties. UM football is a mindset, so when you saw guys wearing fatigues it had nothing to do with a false bravado, it was deeper than that, all the racist comments that were thrown around at players, and the labeling and stereo typing, that's why guys respect jimmy johnson, because he didn't come to UM with a hidden/racist agenda, he treated men for who they were, play hard or go home, he didn't get personal and cause differences to be a problem, he respected people for who they were.

You ask what do we think shannon though back than, you should know that by now solar, shannon thought TEAM first, so anything that was about team unity, he was down wit it. The same guy that's the headcoach now came from the same team and era that people talked down on, if it wasn't for football, what would shannon be doing, he probably couldn't tell you now, because football became his life once he was able to pla it, before that, he was just another kid from Liberty City trying to survive everyday.

The team from 86 for the most part was no different than the current 2007 northwestern team, when they went to southlake carroll, you so all the hate and the shat they put in the usa today trying to demean the guys from the west, now ask yourself solar, what did the kids from Northwestern do to deserve the bullshat put out by the media, all they did was show up for a football game, but yet they had to hear how poor they were and how rich the kids from the other school was, what did all that mean, now if the boys from the west had showed up with fatigues or at least kevlar hats maybe than you would've understood to a certain degree.

I'm not mad at yah solar i'm just trying to get you to understand, and sometimes on here you make a lot of undertone slight handed statements about shannon that you shouldn't make by being narrow minded, like every now and than you'll keep trying to point out for some reason that shannon is a so called bad Father and husband, but before you type shat like that do you ever think, 1st how do you know that, and next, did you pay attention to the now public shannon's life story, his Father was killed when he was 3, so out the window right their, the Man that was suppose to help guide him is gone, so now, shannon is left to either look up to his older brothers to find out what a man is suppose to be, but he couldn't do that because they weren't good role models until they were on their deaht beds, so shannon was left to listen and cling on the right things his Mother told him and figure out the rest thru the streets, luckily the football field was their.

So when guys from the 80's growing up and going thru the reaganomic days, struggling and suffering, the football field was our sanctuary. You think a guy like irvin, being the youngest of something like 17 or 18 brothers and sisters, what do you think he had growing up. Hell, it's 2008, do yurself a favor and go back and read the article when the west played southlake and read the statistics and average yearly income families still make in DADE COUNTY, a blind eye and unrealistic thinking will say, well that's their fault, nobody is going to hand them anything, and that the last part is true, nobody is going to hand us anything, i don't wanna get to deep off in it, but let's not kid ourselves, we are the only people out of all the people over the last century, think about this, the so called jews were persecuted for how long, around a decade, now here you have a people that's been persecuted and torchered in this country for over 400 hundreds years, the so called jews were reduced to ghettos and camps similar to the ghettos across america today, when the so called jews got reparations and still get it annually, people treat them as if they deserve it for their suffering, but nobody in the goverment wants to help repair a people who's past is more horrifing than what the so called jews went thru.

Than one of the first things people want to try and say to combat that is, well you know it was Africans who sold other Africans into slavery, but not to many people will tell you, well you know it was jewish banks that helped finance hitler, nope that's not brought up, you might say well what does this have to do with UM football, all i can say is, if you don't know, you'll proably never know and just follow chad johnson's advice.
