Quick postgame update

I'm trying to upload as much of the audio and video from the postgame scene as I can, but it takes awhile. I'll give you some quick observations and notes from what I gathered from the Canes after their 26-3 loss to the Gators.

> Coach Randy Shannon said he had no comment when asked what he thought of Urban Meyer's decision to kick a field goal late in the game -- and cover that 21-point spread. Shannon said it in a way that certainly made everyone believe he didn't like it.

> Shannon praised quarterback Robert Marve for not making any mistakes in his first start. Shannon said Miami's game plan was to run the football and to go into the fourth quarter with a shot at the victory. He said Marve gave them that chance. I'm sure many of you felt offensive coordinator Patrick Nix did not. Shannon said receivers dropped one too many balls.

> As far as the emotions after the game, Shannon told his players to be disappointed but not to point fingers. Offensive lineman Jason Fox was certainly one of the guys who wasn't happy. He said while UM did some good things he said losing never makes him feel good. Marve said he was happy with the way he played but the entire team didn't do what it was supposed to.

> I expect to hear some bad news regarding running back Javarris James in the morning. As the Canes waked off the field, JJ was wearing a boot on his left ankle. I know radio and ESPN reported an ankle injury. Shannon said he'd have to wait to hear the prognosis. Here's mine... get ready to see a lot of Graig Cooper and Derron Thomas. I'm not sure if JJ is out for the year -- but he's out.

> I think you'll see some changes in personnel the next time Miami lines up. Defensive tackle Marcus Forston started his first game in college Saturday and was solid. But I think there is no question we'll see more from from Sean Spence in the near future. Spence sacked Tebow and had an earth-shattering stick on Brandon James in the fourth quarter. He's too good not to see on the field more often.

That's all I got for now. Be sure to check out the audio interviews I'll be uploading throughout the night.
Feel free to give me your thoughts below. Like, are you accepting this as a moral victory.

The bogus overturn of a DROPPED f'ing pass KILLED us. After rewatching the catch it's clear that he DROPPED the ball and never had control of it. You really have to micro interpret to even say his elbow is in, but he CLEARLY dropped the ball.

Manny, from the Cleveland Gary "fumble" to Terry Porter's bs call after the damm game was over v. OSU* and last night, we ALWAYS get jobbed. It would have been such a good game in the 4th quarter had the refs not taken over.

Manny, I'd really like to see an article addresing this.

the ranking says it all, no.5 in the nation vs. unranked miami team, as a big CANES fan, i won't make excuses, we got beat fair and square with both teams having 11 guys on the field every snap, gator fans have the bragging rights so enjoy it while it last! i'm accepting the lost and the outcome of the game, i'm thrilled to say the way all our freshman guys played, we're setting-up to compete for next yr's major bowl game, we just need to win throughout conference play and be consistent from this day on, eventually we will be back as national powers regardless of who the coach will be in the following years, i love Randy as a coach, but there's something about Randy that's lacking, like having to atleast defend against all the disputable calls, saw the game last night, and he pretty much just let every disputable calls go, no emotions there, it would've atleast helped made the refs think twice to call against us in the following sessions, but as a coach, he's pretty classy and he accepts defeat quite well, he don't mope around and carry it over on the next opponent, he prepares well for his kids, he got the "move on to the next game, put past behind us" mentality, anyways lets see how the whole season goes, definitely next time we meet UF, will be a different story, and like us at the moment, we're in the rebuilding mode, we're very young, and the Gators will eventually become that aswell once Tebow and harvin leaves, and they will be the one saying everything is not going right b'coz of all the reason we are saying for our team this year.

"The bogus overturn of a DROPPED f'ing pass KILLED us" - TerryPorterBLOWS

U USED UP ALL OF YOUR BLOWN CALL EXCUSES AFTER U LOST TO OHIO STATE WHEN IT MATTERED

"eventually we will be back as national powers regardless of who the coach will be in the following years" - ro_ja15

DON'T NIX NIX, PROMOTE WITHIN

"Tebow and harvin leaves, and they will be the one saying everything is not going right b'coz of all the reason we are saying for our team this year." - ro_ja15

Obviously all of which are invalid excuses because we had the 2nd youngest D and the youngest overall roster in the nation in 2007 and all U can do is harp that we were 9-4.

AND WE STILL MADE A MAJOR BOWL GAME

yeah didn't u guys have your down years when you had zook as ur coach, gator nation needs to get hit by reality! everybody will have their down years, not just the florida teams, even USC, OSU, OU etc., it's NCAA, best players comes and go, they graduate or they get drafted, if it weren't for ur best player tebow and harvin, it would've been a much closer game than it was, just be glad it's ur time right now, i'm not removing the relevance of ur win last night, a win is a win, regardless how it came out, close game or not, there's no moral victory, gator fans can keep downplaying the whole thing about the positivity we saw in our team, but the fact of the matter is, anybody who watched the game last night is seeing why we had no.1 rated recruit by espn in 2008, that even included the gameday crew, during the halftime weren't everyone saying how surprise how the game was so close and how tebow is getting rattled by our freshmen and young d, i don't completely hate the gators, i'm rooting for all the florida teams, but everyone needs to open their eyes and see the potential in our UM team, i hate that a lot of gator fans are being hypocrite in saying MIAMI got thug players, don't ur gator team consists of south florida, dade county, broward county players, which most of them are even ur best and impact players, you hate miami and yet ur team comes down to south florida to recruit, the point is gator fans take shot at miami, but they are well aware that the "U" will come back to prominence, your speed wasn't even the talk of last night's game, we came to match ur speed, the speed that came from our town!

I know everyone's dissapointed about the offense and play calling, but I'm optimistic. (1) the offensive line looked bad b/c the opposing team has 8/9 guys in the box...its very difficult to overcome that against a top tier team. (2) we have freshman QBs and freshman receivers playing in the 2nd game of the season...no coach with even half a brain is going to ask his young receivers to run 15 yard routes (correctly) and ask his QB to make the correct reads. If you actually watched the replays of the pass plays, it was obvious the receivers weren't running routes (or after the catch) with the confidence/precision you see from experienced players. To make matters worse, there were more than a few drops, which further makes down field pass attempts less likely. It would have been great to have someone like Darnell Jenkins play with this year's group, since he was probably the only receiver among last year's group, who could be trusted. (3) I'm optimistic that the playbook will open up more and more as the season progresses. I still point to last year's game against GTech as proof Nix isn't afraid to go down field. GTech (with last year's D-coordinator) had a blitz early and often philosophy, yet Nix correctly called a ton of down field plays that were open, but K. Wright couldn't complete.

I know its tough to accept the conservative play-calling we saw, but neither Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow, nor Greg Olson were out there yesterday. Be patient.

Canesrule,

We did better than anyone imagined against your highly touted squad. Even you retard. The game's over now. Time to move on now. Why don't you start posting on Arkansas's, Vandy's, or Tennessee's blogs. The more you post on here, after the game is over, the more pitiful you make yourself look. If our team is as bad as you say we are, then your Gayturds are in a lot of trouble when they play in your "self-proclaimed"
"Best Conference in the Nation".

WACO, Texas (AP)—Freshman Robert Griffin passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another in his first career start, and coach Art Briles earned his first win at Baylor as the Bears snapped a nine-game losing streak by beating Northwestern State 51-6 Saturday night.

Tough luck Kirby. Maybe you should've transfered to Northwestern State.

The Hurricanes' game plan looked as if the Canes had decided to leave the ACC for the Big Ten -- in the 1970s.

U LIVE IN THE PAST

I would like to see Miami lose a game while trying to fight for a win. Bill Young has that philosophy. Nix needs to grab some of it. We have young players that will make errors. But offensively, we're not giving them the chance. Canes football used to be an attacking style of play. Not anymore, at least on offense. "Playmakers" can't make plays with 8 men in the box on defense or screen passes or 5 and outs. We need to showcase their speed not necessarily their "juke" ability in tons of traffic.

Win or Lose....Let them PLAY!

Fans and players will sit alot better knowing we went down fighting rather than trying not to lose.

CSU Fights Hard But Falls 41-23 at #13 Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A late Wofford score iced a back-and-forth contest, as the Terriers took down Charleston Southern 41-23 at Gibbs Stadium, Saturday night.

U failed cross the 50 in the second half and rushed for a total of seven yards and made four first downs.

IN THE SEC THE GAME IS 4 QUARTERS

Texas A&M 28, New Mexico 22

ALBUQUERQUE -- Jerrod Johnson replaced the injured Stephen McGee and threw three touchdown passes as Texas A&M gave coach Mike Sherman his first win with the Aggies, 28-22 over New Mexico on Saturday.

Texas A&M (1-1), making its first trip to Albuquerque, survived New Mexico's swarming defensive scheme and bounced back from an embarrassing season-opening loss, 18-14 to Arkansas State.

Johnson completed 10-of-19 for 124 yards in place of McGee, who sprained his right shoulder on the opening series and didn't return. Aggies running back Mike Goodson also left with a sprained right knee, through he briefly returned in the second half.

Funny as just as recently as Friday every Cane on here IMAGINED Duhhhh U beating the Mighty Gators.

ACC WILL NEVER MATCH UP TO THE SEC

Which means the Gayturds are going to lose a lot of conference games.

Can anyone tell me which freshman played and which did not? Also, does anyone know where to get complete stats from the game? thanks

U are lucky Meyer half-heartedly listened to Randy's public plea, otherwise we would have really unleashed Tebow on U.

PLEASE DON'T RUN THE SCORE UP ON US U

urban meyer is downplaying the UM-UF rivalry saying it's not a rivalry because they don't play annually and that the last game they played was 4 yrs ago, right! that's why u wanted to run up the score last night and kick a field at the last mins.

ACC WILL NEVER MATCH UP TO THE SEC

Posted by: canesrule | September 07, 2008 at 01:32 PM

Then that makes your team a mediocre SEC team since they struggled against an ACC school that went 5-7 last year.

SEAN SPENCE IS A BEAST!

"We're the 'U,' " Murphy said. "I don't refer to them as the 'U.' I refer to them as Miami. If the 'U' is for university and winning championships, we're the 'U.' They are Miami, and that's what I call them.

DUHHHHH U IS NOW KNOWN AS MIAMI - HELPS WITH THEIR IDENTITY OF PLAYING IN DOLPHIN STADIUM

I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT ARTHUR BROWN

SEAN SPENCE IS A BEAST!

That got dominated by the best team in the SEC EAST.

I HATE TO TELL U I TOLD U SO

I ENJOYED WATCHING THE NORTHWESTERN AND BOOKER T. GUYS, PATRICK JOHNSON CHOOSING LSU OVER US IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE, GLAD WE HAVE BRANDON HARRIS, A LOT OF GOOD THINGS TO COME! TOMMY STREETER WILL HELP US GREATLY NEXT YR WITH HIS SIZE, GET WELL SOON!

"Then that makes your team a mediocre SEC team since they struggled against an ACC school that went 5-7 last year." - DAU SUX

Struggled? U put up 3 points and 140 total yard s!!!

Struggling can be defined as the only ACC in the Top 25 team needing a last second field goal to beat Ole Miss.

SEC = TOUGHEST CONFERENCE IN THE NATION

YEAH WIN OR LOSE, YOUR HEISMAN ALL-AMERICAN QUARTER JUST GOT KNOCKED THE SHIIT OUT OF HIM! BY A TRUE FRESHMAN!
I HATE TO TELL YOU I TOLD YOU MY A@@!

"that's why u wanted to run up the score last night and kick a field at the last mins." - I fell and hit my noggin

Maybe U missed Randy's pre-game speach, crying in public for Meyer not to run up the score on U.

LAID THE SMACK DOWN ON U

That got dominated by the best team in the SEC EAST.

Posted by: canesrule | September 07, 2008 at 01:39 PM

Dominated huh? OK, you've proved your intelligence. You've lost your privilege to any responses,

"YOUR HEISMAN ALL-AMERICAN QUARTER JUST GOT KNOCKED THE SHIIT OUT OF HIM!"

FUNNY!!! Because in the game I watched #15 racked up 311 yards and gained more than 4+ yards per carry.

EXCUSE U

yeah that only shows the significance of how important it is to beat Miami, you turd! otherwise you wouldn't be here bustin' everybody balls just to make a statement! the game has been over almost a day ago dumbass and yet ur here in a canes blog still trying to convince everybody ur gators are a better team when they have already won! it only shows ur inferiority as a team, stop talking coz' ur sounding completely like an ass!

The Gators won AND covered the spread. What more could you want???? They arent going to beat every single team they play by 50. As long as we get the W whether it is by 1 or 100 I am happy. W's count and I would never celebrate a loss.

OH YEAH THAT'S WHY UR TEBOW WAS SO PUMPED TO GO FOR A 1ST DOWN ON A 4TH AND 5, RIIIGHHT! THAT DIDN'T SHOW TEBOW GETTING IRRITATED!

OH YEAH, I RECALL URBAN CRYER ALSO BACKING OUT OF IT TOO! WHY NOT GO FOR IT??? WEREN'T WE A POOR NO GOOD DEFENSE?? HAHA HIT IN THE MOUTH, THAT'S RIGHT! SHUT UP canesrule, AND CHANGE UR NAME YOU HYPOCRITE!

U lost, get over yourself.

As if we went for it or not on one 4th down would have changed the outcome of a game in which U could barley muster 140 yards of total offense.

The downfall of Duhhhh U began the day they joined a conference with mediocre competition.

IT' NOT A COINCIDENCE, FACE THE FACTS - U SUX & U KNOW IT

"I RECALL URBAN CRYER ALSO BACKING OUT OF IT TOO! WHY NOT GO FOR IT???" - guy with no football IQ

U sure are smart. It's a minor matter of the game called field position. U know, like when U back a team up against their own goal line, force a 3 & out, then block their kick and get a safety.

U MAKE NIX LOOK LIKE A GENIUS - HOPEFULLY HE'S YOUR NEXT PROMOTED WITHIN COACH

we are over it stupid! ur the one who couldn't despite the win, stop watching espn highlights buddy and start watching the whole game! ur no.5 team in the whole nation can't even blow out an unranked miami team, i'll be really concerned for ur gaytors if i were especially playing in ur self-proclaimed strongest conference!

GameDay anchor Chris Fowler said: ``Only once in the 15-year history of road shows have we gone to a game where the favorite is expected to crush the underdog by a margin this big.''

DUHHHH U SETS ANOTHER RECORD

I thought Meyer was nice to kick the field goal. I wanted him to go for it on 4th down and put up the TD.

Shannon is just pissed he is Ron Zook without emotion.

canesrule needs to get flagged!

Let’s get this straight right now: There is a ‘U’ and an ‘M’ in University of Miami, just as there is a ‘u’ and an ‘M’ in Louis Murphy’s last name. Sorry, Hurricanes fans, but there is more than just one ‘U’ in college football. And you’re not entitled to retire that letter of the alphabet.

SMACK TALK TO SMACK DOWN - U LOST

at least the canes are competing. the phins are making me cry. secondary can't do shyt. will victor harris be around early in the second round?

"Defensively, when we have somebody backed up, we have to keep them backed up.” - Randy Shannon

Somebody please tell Randy this is college football!

THE GAME IS 60 MINUTES LONG

“We obviously didn’t play well enough to win and I’m a little disappointed.” - Robert Marve

In the ACC they take losing as being a little disappointed, fire their coach, then promote within.

THAT'S THE WAY THE COOKIE GETS ANNIHILATED

Clearly, Nix's gameplan was to not get blown out.
Urban's was to run up the score...a fuqqen scoring drive, with a minute left.

"I think it is pretty unfortunate that the ball didn’t fall our way a couple of times on third down." - Robert Marve

Only at Duhhhhh U is going 5-15 on 3rd down considered a couple not going your way.

140 YARDS & PROUD OF IT

Asked about Florida throwing the ball late in the game, Shannon said, "No comment."

PLEASE DON'T RUN THE SCORE UP ON US U

canesrule

I can understand why i can understand why your so mad. if it took my my team 23 years to to win a game then i would be stoked too. So what if its y'all first win in 7 tries. those loses y'all got didn't count because tim tebow wasnit on your team. i get it man so what if UM still leads yall 28 to 26 in total wins as long as you got this one.

one win makes you....

i can understand why your so mad

URBAN MEYER HIT THE LOTTERY WITH TIM TEBOW...

LETS JUST FACE IT.. THAT TYPE OF KID ONLY COMES AROUND ONCE EVERY DECADE.

WE WILL SEE WHAT TYPE OF COACH HE REALLY IS WHEN TEBOW IS GONE.....

TEBOW KNOWS HOW TO WIN AND MAKE EVERY ONE AROUND HIM BETTER.

I HATE THE GATORS LIKE EVERY ONE ELSE BUT THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH.
