Marve granted release (confirmed)

It doesn't come as much of a surprise anymore, but quarterback Robert Marve has been granted his release and will leave the program. UM sports information staff has just sent a release confirming  the report by Canesport earlier this morning. Marve started 11 games for UM and was suspended for two others.

A little more than a week ago, Marve voiced his frustrations through his high school Robert_marvecoach Robert Weiner about his strained relationship with coach Randy Shannon and his displeasure with sharing the quarterback duties. Jacory Harris started in place of Marve at the Emerald Bowl. And it appears the writing was on the wall for Marve. Early Tuesday morning, UM coach Randy Shannon spoke with WQAM's Joe Rose and told him regardless if Marve returned, Harris would go into the spring as the starter.

"If Robert chooses to leave the University of Miami, we got Jacory, we got Taylor Cook, we got Cannon Smith, so we’ll be fine," Shannon said. "We’ve got enough talent on this team, we’ve got an experienced quarterback with Jacory, if Robert leaves, Jacory will be our guy, he’ll lead the way, because he has a lot of game experience...

"Jacory did everything to be our guy right now. Robert has to accept that hey, I have to be a person that is willing to do what we are doing at the University of Miami and I think he will if he wants that opportunity to do it, but if not and he wants to transfer, I will grant him his transfer."

Stay tuned to hear Marve's part of the story soon.

> Among other things Randy discussed during his interview, his idea about where he would like to go with the offense moving forward. Monday, Patrick Nix was fired and told The Miami Herald he and Shannon had philosophical differences -- he wanted to open it up more and Shannon wanted to play more of a traditional style.

"If you look at our team, we’ve got tailbacks, we’ve got fullbacks, we’ve got tight ends, we’ve got Jacory_harrisreceivers, now we have all those things in place. I just want a team where we can score some points," Shannon told Rose. "If you watch SC [Southern Cal], it’s a pro-style offense, they use multiple sets, do a lot of great things. Do they have a fullback? Yes. Do they have receivers? Yes. Do they have tight ends? Yes. Do they have three or four tailbacks? Yes."

"You want to be able to have a pro-style offense that can score points. I can’t sit up there and say that we’re gonna line up in 2-back and play smash-mouth; we can line up in one back, we can line up in 2-backs, and do a lot of great things. We should be able to throw the ball out of every personnel group that we’re doing. You want more of a pro-style offense that can score a lot of points.

Jimmy_graham> Not that many of you probably care to talk hoops at a time like this. But I just got back from Frank Haith's press conference. The news of the day is a bruised right wrist will likely keep Jimmy Graham out until ACC play. Graham slipped getting out of the shower two weeks ago and banged his wrist against the toilet. "We've got to give him some time, let that thing heal," Haith said. "He's tried to play with it and we've got to let it heal, because we need him down the stretch."

The injury should open up more playing time for redshirt freshman Julian Gamble, who has been playing well. He had 10 points and three rebounds in 12 minutes at St. John's. "With or without Jimmy's injury, he's earned more playing time," Haith said.

> I'll have an interview with Julian up for you later.

MIAMI HERALD CLASSIFIED

Looking for a head coach that can coach better than a 3 year old blind girl. aka Randy Shannon

The problem is both Randy Shannon and Nix. They both suck. Randy's defenses were not as good as Schiano's and Nix was never good at Ga Tech. What can we really expect when we have a woman as a school president. She sucks and we have been on the decline since she got the job. First she wanted the BAD BOY IMAGE destroyed under Erickson then she hired Coker the football powerhouse program killer, and then she hired this moron we have now instead of getting a REAL head coach. People kill me singing this idiots praises when the truth is he hasn't done anything but lose and now drive a potential great player away. Brian Kelly, Gary Patterson, Lane Kiffen or any competent Head Coach could have squezzed 9 wins out of last years team and at least got to the ACC championship this year. Shannon is a complete idiot and he along with Shalala are going to send this program down the tubes. Face it Shannon you know Marve is better and thats the reason you are scared to see him in the future. But don't worry as long as you are there Miami want be seeing an SEC school unless it's a 5 or 6 seeded SEC team in a lame 4th week of December Bowl game. Canesrule was right Shannon getting hired was the best present the Gators ever got.

Please alumni quit wasting time, money, and recruits with talent on this cheap wanna be imitation of a Head Coach. Maybe Shannon should pursue what his real talent is working at a military school. But heck he'd probably suck at that too.

What is Randy Shannon concerned about, we won't play Florida until 2013 and we don't have Tennessee or LSU on our schedule???

Is Duh U a school for the blind?

It's not about scheduling. Randy doesn't want Marve to transfer to the ACC, SEC, or school in Florida because of their proximity to Miami. He's worried that U guys may one day catch on to the fact that he can not coach worth a lick. I know this is blantantly obvious to any fan of college football outside of the 305, but U may eventually come to the same conclusion sooner once Marve attends a school that doesn't have a head coach whom was promoted within.

He's doing it beacuse he wants to save face while delaying the inevitable.

haha This is fun

MIAMI HERALD CLASSIFIED

I am randy shannon and I pee sitting down.

What in the world is Randy Shannon doing? Stop with the negative publicity! We have had enough this season. Start reading coaching for dummies, red zone defense for dummies, clock management for dummies, and how to stop being a baby for dummies!!!!

Randy Shannon is the problem. How blind do you have to be???

What do I have to do to get that funny guy coach from the Miami Hurricanes hired for a longer period of time???

I will be willing to give money, my wife, my sons, anyone.

Keep that guy down there in Miami dragging down that program into the gutters of the world.

Let me state this. SHANNON IS WEIRD. He doesn't have a good relationship with many of his players. He doesn't talk to them, he doesn't help many of them, he is basically the CEO at the top of Miami football that no one can talk to. I even heard that he told the players he won't talk to them that much. MULTIPLE TRANSFERS ARE TRANSFERRING BECAUSE OF SHANNON...AND THAT IS THE MAIN REASON. Not the family stuff. He is weird, he says one thing and does the other. He isn't personable after you sign you LOI to play. He says this this this and than BAM, he is impossible to talk to. That isn't what you want from your HC. Marve never liked the fact that he couldn't talk to Shannon as much as he wanted to and that after he signed Shannon was never the same. I was reading a book, The GM, and Ernie Acorsi said that the most important relationship IN SPORTS is the one between the QB and the head coach. This REALLY made me question why Shannon didn't have a better relationship with him. Randy wanted him bad in that 07 class, but then after the car accident it was like he kicked Jermaine and Rob to the side and didn't want anything to do with them.

With Marve's latest announcement, I am not surprised about what came out of his mouth. Robert loved the U, and would have loved to stay here...but he did not love Coach Shannon. He got SCREWED getting suspended for the first game. It happened last October during the middle of the season...and he gets suspended for it for the first game. Not going to say FIRMLY that this happened, but I think we promised Jacory that he would start the first game much like Clemson did with Harper. The was a perfect excuse to let it happen. Marve didn't know about it until a WEEK before the game. I'm sorry, but that is not how a head coach should treat one of his players. I can see if it's due to grades at the last minute (Ivory), but not for this...not for something that happened 10 months ago.

Waaaaandy, Welease me. 2 wank jobs...1 school

Randy forgot to mention that USC has offensive linemen...three deep.

It would be ironic if Randy hired Shula as OC after Marve leaves. Of course Shula's firing is why Marve came to Miami after committing to "Bama.

Two great points Texcane

Man Shannon, just let the kid go. Let him play in the SEC. Just coach your guys well enough to beat him when you face him

Bobby Bowden = Robert Marve

Ask Marve about his "contact" with SEC schools before a grant of release... Illegal contact with a current player is just that... ILLEGAL. If he really wanted to go to an SEC school, him and his family should have taken the ramifications of their actions in mind before contacting the SEC schools.

I have been reading these blogs for quite a while & have to say that Manny is on top of the game in the blogging world. Keep up the good work Manny!!!

Saban proved good coaching can win right away in college football. Shannon has proved he can recruit, but so could Zook at Florida. It takes a coach, not a recruiter, to win. Time to find a real COACH!

Some of you "canes" fans need to sit in front of a fracking mirror or in front of the computer and think of what you're typing for a second.

The ones that root on other schools need to stop bleating on and on. Mr. 9 ships over there needs to focus on his team which did squat this year.

Look, fact is we didn't have a great season, or even a good one. We had an average one, dominated by inconsistency on both sides of the ball, that were highlights on our lack of depth. We all recognize that.

Marve's trying to play the media and the fans for fools, and many of us see the "
"I had to get out," Marve told the AP from his family's home in Tampa. "I just decided that I can't play for coach Shannon."

as utter crap.

For those of you from outside of Miami, who did not see J. Harris perform in high school, I went to see both Marve and Harris in games. Granted I saw Harris more, and the kid has a feel to him,it's difficult to explain. That's the attraction there. Regardless, Marve is gone, which seems to be a bit of a good thing. Do you really want guys on this team who don't want to be around through thick and thin?

I don't want players or fans like that.

"I don't think people realize how hurt I was," Marve said. "My body changed completely after that."

He still using the Car Crash and someone oughta tell him that "a one-game suspension to start this season because he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge related to an act of vandalism on Oct. 31, 2007, which is consistent with the policies Shannon put into place when he took over as coach two years ago." was fair and the least you could expect.

Someone's been in that kid's ear.

What we need to do moving forward, is wait to see what his OC hire is. We have to see how this year's crop mature, improve and work during the offseason. We have to see how the players respond. I spoke with one player on the team [i'm not claiming we're tight, i'm not claiming anything special] who told me that the players like Coach Shannon and that they spend more time with the Assistants, that they feel that's where they receive their best guidance.

This is a player that for most the year spent it on the bench, and only came up later. He did say that Shannon motivates you to keep workin hard and improve so you get touches. That's the competition that Coach Shannon is always speaking about. Let's see how he does the next two years. If by the end of 4 years, the 'Canes are still struggling mightily let him go. You can't judge Shannon purely off the upperclassmen the last couple of years, that's Coach Coker's kids. Yeah, Shannon's made some mistakes, he's inexperienced too.

I'm hoping the new OC will be like Coach Young, someone who has enough experience and a track record to make kids want to play here, make wise choices during a game, and who can teach up kids.

Charkie GP- Living in the past? so, 2004 when we killed you at the Peach Bowl, less than 4 yrs ago is living in the past? Well, I guess your 2nd, Yes 2nd NC 2 years ago is also living in the past then?

Does getting beat down by Michigan 1 year ago and finishing 9-4 count as living in the past?

Does losing to Ole Miss at the swamp this yr mean living in the past?

Go back to you pig sty or your chicken coop or your horsse barn. You loser redneck from Central Florida.. and stay out of these blogs because all in all, you matter less than a pimple in my a$-$

How is evryone excusing marve's whiney attitude? he is a loser and you know, he belongs at UF- Randy let this soft, pathetic, daddy's little boy (who can't fight his own fights) go where he would fit perfectly: UF.

PCola Cane:

I was a Marve supporter all season, I thought he had more potential than Jacory Harris. Marve is a kid and he is bound to make mistakes.

At this point I'm more concerned with what the situation says about Randy Shannon than what happens to Marve. IMO Shannon is saying that he doesn't want Marve to go to an SEC program and succeed because it will reflect poorly on his ability as a coach. He's just trying to avoid the embarrasment, that's kind of pathetic. If I had a kid being recruited by Shannon I would think twice about sending him to UM (and I love the school, program, city, etc..)

To paraphrase Randy Shannon, it helps other programs recruit more than he'll ever know.

Now we know know why we were so lame on O. Everyone wanted Nix,s head . Well we got it!! We also found out who was Mr. conservative . If Randy was the MAN he sells him self to be. Let Marve go, tell the guys coming in he was,t good enough for the U . But him telling Marve you can,t go here you can,t go their plays write into Bobby & Urban,s hands . I will say Canes have always run a pro O , But the times they are a changing. Good leaders surround them self with good people . Hope Randy's a good leader & not a dictator.

Marve is a punk, he's always been. anyone who refuses taking pictures or signing autographs for fans is a disgrace. Be glad, all U supporters, that this kid is gone. He's a piece of garbage and has disrespected everything the U is about. I for one have no shame in letting him go and Shannon did him more than enough favors when he broke the law and his hand. As for daddy Marve, go fly a kite in a thunderstorm buddy. Just because you were once a hot shot doesnt give you the right to bash Shannon and the U like that.

I wish Nix and Marve nothing but the best in their next endeavor.

There's just something I can't understand about RM's comments. Its pretty clear he didn't like having to split the QB duties, but he's also mentioning how banged up he is from the accident. But given the latter, I don't see why he would have such an issue splitting time with Jacory. It would have been one thing if Jacory was stinking up the joint, but that obviously wasn't the case.

This now puts tremendous pressure on RS. The team has to show significant improvement next season or else he will likely be fired. The question is how we measure improvement. I do feel the offense was better this year than last, which is remarkable considering the experience we had last year vs the youth this year. I was expecting this group to be better next year, but again, they'll have to learn a new offense, which in itself may cause us to take a step back. This was part of the reason why I was against firing Nix.

As for the head coach's role in the offense, some of you really need to watch more college football. The vast majority of the college coaches started and maintain a role on one side of the ball - defense or offense. Very few are active on both. A few more may get involved with special teams in addition to their role on either the defense or offense. When you watch the championship game this year, you'll notice how active Meyer is on offense and special teams, while Stoops will spend more time on defense. That's just the way it is. Heck, Bobby Bowden does neither these days and he still has a gig. JJ didn't even wear a head set when he was here. The head coach has to lay down the philosophy, bring in the players that fit, and had better do a good job bringing in a good staff to execute both sides of the ball. Assuming RS can find a candidate who shares the same philosophy about the offense, I do see attractiveness in our opening b/c the OC will have autonomy. Again, RS isn't an offensive guy.

Having said all of that, the QB position is awfully important in the college game. That is one position where you just can't miss or you'll set the program back. Meyer acknowledged as much when pondering the thought of not getting Tebow, and our experience after Dorsey confirms it. Granted, if you're running a balanced, pro-style attack, I feel you can take some pressure off of the QB with how you scheme the opponent. On the contrary, when you run wide-open, spread offense, the QB will make or break your offense...just ask Rich Rodriguez in Michigan. For this reason, I'm going to be optimistic about our offense and Jacory running it next year.

I have officially had enough of Randy Shannon. Can we please bring in a real head coach that acts like a man instead of like a little girl?

I will not support UM until they hire a real head coach.

This will not blow away after a few weeks. Randy Shannon is embarassing this program.

gator82-thanks bro- you said it.
mra- you got it holmes, that's genius speak.

what is it with everyone excusing this punk for what he has NOT DONE at UM?

I mean he is lucky to be playing at all after the"incident" 10 months ago. Well, Robby, that incident could have had you kicked off the team.
You are lucky Randy a) allowed you to play at all
b) allowed you to start against UF.

c) allowed you to start period.

WHAT NONE OF US HERE ON THIS BLOG KNOW (INCLUDING MANNY) IS WHAT OTHER STUFF MARVE HAS DONE THA HAS RANDY SO TICKED OFF ON HIM. I FOR ONE, HAVE SEEN THAT TRACK RECORD AND IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME THAT HE HAS DONE MORE CRAP, YET HE WANTS SPECIAL BREAKS.

Now daddy is sticking up for him and wants to fight his fight.

daddy marve: excellent example you are giving a 20 year old- when the going gets tough, daddy, the ex-footballer will rescue you. well, what if he goes to say, texas, and he doesnt like Mack Brown or the way they run things there, or the way them Texas boys treat him? Is he going to transfer a third time? That boy is : a bonafide Quitter. Quitter, and excuse maker. Period. Nothing more!

That boy is constantly running his mouth about excuses, excuses this, excuses that. When will he face up to the facts, confront adversity and work hard at it? Answer: never- because his coachie woachie from Plant and his daddy would never never wet wittle bobby NOt get what he wants!

Loser NOt-cane PUNK- scram punk, you aint no cane- never was never will be. You proved it today. Thank God you are leaving> Next!

I'm agreeing with Shannon on the stipulations clause, especially if there was contact and tampering by ACC and SEC schools. Miami should never be looked as a feeder system or JV squad for LSU or Florida, to have players cherrypicked. The only feeder system that Miami needs to be is for the NFL.

Marve still has almost one hundred 1-A schools to try for. Why not Texas A&M? Or California? Or Oklahoma State? Or USC?

Jacorry- You da man now son. Time to start this joint up. Time to bring the swag back. Time to work hard on off season, study film, learn your opponents. Time to step up and bring it. Its your world now jacorry. Not since Kenny D. have we had this much hope for the program. Running backs- there will be nos pread. this is a pro-style team. You are guaranteed reps. Listen up. Work hard and you will be the next,

Edgerrin James
Clinton Portis
Frank Gore
Willis McGahee

Who's next?

Jaime...I'm in Austin and trust me. If Marve came here and in two years somehow beat out Chiles or the Lake Travis HS 5-star recruit that they have coming in, he'll get along fine with Mac Brown. Mac's more the grandfatherly type, ala Coker, but has an excellent recruiting record and now a staff of good coordinators.

Atlanta Cane,

Did RS kick RM off the team or did RM ask to be let go? Since everyone and their momma knew there was a team rule that if you got in trouble after a certain time, you'd be suspended for the next game, did RS make RM get in trouble? I know the 4th missed class is a disputed one, but how in god's name could you put yourself in a position to risk the 4th class in the first place. Given how well Jacory actually played this year (while not getting into trouble), what kind of message are you sending to him if he's doing what he's supposed to be doing while the starter is allowed to run amok?

Personally, if I was coach Shannon I would have granted Marve his release and would not have cared where he went. But I am not surprised of the stipulations. So many people keep crying "Randy is ruining the U", no he is not this is how college football is ran. Meyer does it and so does so many other coaches do it as well. Spurrier only let Brock leave because he was going to the NFL and UF had 3 other qb's just as good or arguably better than Berlin.

Randy is doing a good job. At first, I respected Marve how he handled himself with the 2 qb system. I thought he understood its purpose and was one to compete. But after constantly reading reports about what his high school coach and father was saying to the media, my perseption changed of him. Those actions he portrayed to the media was all of persona. When his high school coach comes out with a "he say she say" about the program and his dad supporting everything son is doing(he knew his son was going to get suspended the 1st game because of an arrest) thats shows his true colors.

Personally, I felt Randy supported him when the media pressured him to bench Marve. Harris went through the same thing when he performed bad, i.e. Marve stayed in against WF and VT. Shannon had to get a winning record this year. We got it and hopefully next year its 9 or 10 wins.

Marve you got to grow up, man. You have a lot of talent but nothing is given to you. You have to realize no one knew what shape you would be in coming back from an injury, so when you came in your competition was a great qb prospect you did not separate yourself as a sole starter and you were not leader off the field. Good luck but grow up or you would become a wasted talent like Brett Bhomar.

jjr...your point is well taken.

I'd like RM to go to the school of his choice as well, but I also can acknowledge the stakes for UM. Given how nasty the recruiting business is, one of the main reasons players are required to sit out a year is actually to discourage schools from pursuing kids who are already on scholarship somewhere else. Most people think that rule is in place to keep a check on the player, but it's an acknowledgement that the athletic landscape is full of wolves. These guys already continue their pursuit of players who've already verbally committed to another program and would do so well into a kid's career if there wasn't the one year sit out rule.

I'm not sure if UM will back off the conditions of the transfer, but I also know they don't have to grant the release in the first place. But since UM recruits the same kids as the schools in the SEC, there already going to be using this situation against UM. Why in the world would you compound that problem by allowing RM to go to a place that will have him talk directly to recruits trying to convince them they shouldn't choose UM.

Atlanta Cane- you don't sound like a Cane at all brother, go read what you said again.

I'VE BEEN BEHIND MARVE ALL YEAR.. BUT HIS FATHER AND MARVE'S UNWILLINGNESS TO COMPETE IS THE DISGRACE... EUGENE YOUR SON COULDN'T HANG WITH THE BIG BOYS... (4A BALL COMPARED TO 6A BALL) HE'S A QUITER DON'T BAD MOUTH A GREAT PERSON IN SHANNON CAUSE YOUR SON CAN'T HACK IT...

Open Letter to Eugene Marve

Why is it you continue to have your campaign shuffle around media outlets saying your son was not treated fairly?

1. Your son was a starter for all games he played, even while being outplayed in a majority of games.

2. His off the field antics where inexcuseable, I.e. The grove x2, missing class (will get to later), skipping appointments, curfew, joining a frat prior to memorization of playbook, sneaking out of his dorm when we was told to be on lockdown prior to our biggest rival.

3. Now lets talk about his first job, academics. He not only withdrew from a class this semester after getting behind but he also received 2 subpar grades. He missed over doubled the amout classes in one subject allowed (4), and stated to classmates he does not need to go because he is QB. He doesn't even have transferable grades to any in state school. Flag papers in classes. Should I go on or is this too personal.

4. Illegal actions. The fact that he had conversations with LSU and Tenn while being on scholarship to UM is illegal. He has no reason to be granted a transfer to an SEC school.

Your son is lucky if he can get into a JUCO college to complete his AA.

Please stop with the anti-UM campaign when it is clear your son's interest in being a student at UM was clearly not his best interest.

As a father you should put more accountablity on your son and not the academic instution that did not fail him.
That is all, have a nice day.

Exactly PeteRoc - he could be a liability to UM recruiting which wouldn't be fair. All you guys are whining about Marve being let go, and crushing Shannon for it. During his stay here, Marve didn't prove himself of worth. 2nd, Shannon is not just a football coach, but a mentor as well, so you can't get mad at him for disciplining his players, THATS HIS JOB. How can you defend Marve, he's a quitter, and throughout the season he never separated himself from Jacory Harris. Marve consistently underperformed, so there was no way that a coach could guarantee him a starting position, and take away another player's equal opportunity at a shot to start, and thats why Marve left, because the position wasn't handed to him on a silver platter like every other thing in life was. Eugene wasn't even a special lb in the NFL, and he's just a spoiled brat who wants everything to be catered to his son who isn't even a special qb. Shannon not letting Marve go to any school ACC is reasonable, not letting him go to the SEC is reasonable because he was talking with SEC coaches throughout the season (what kind of teammate is that; you people want him as your starter), and not letting him go to any school in florida is reasonable as well. Their all reasonable because SEC, ACC, and other schools in Florida are all schools that UM competes against in recruiting, and if Marve was allowed to go to one of those schools, he could badmouth the U which could affect our recruiting, which WOULD BE BAD FOR US. Get off Marve's sack, and GIVE HARRIS A DAMN CHANCE.

Two years aqo, we had two quarterbacks. Neither could succeed. Receivers routinely dropped passes.

This year we had two quarterbacks competing. Both were named ACC player of the week. For Harris, he earned the honor twice.

We now have four young receivers who hang onto the ball ... A. Johnson, T. Collier, L.Byrd and T. Benjamin.

We've got freshman D-Linemen and line backers that are very, very good.

The quarterback competition will be intense this spring. Taylor Cook at 6'7" is the x factor.

2009 coiuld be great ... if we can get an O line. Can you say junior college recruits.

Just some stats for fun: QB stats in games attempting 10+ passes (Game/completion%/TD/Int)
Marve:
Florida/55.6/0/0
aTm/72.7/2/1
UNC/66.7/3/2 -- 9/27/08, take note
FSU/42.5/0/2
UCF/42.1/1/3
Wake/55.0/0/0
Virgina/50.0/0/1
VaTech/43.8/0/0
GaTech/50.0/1/1
NCST/75.0/1/2

Harris:
CharSo/61.5/1/0 -- FCS team
Duke/64.3/4/2
Virginia/57.1/2/0
GaTech/72.2/2/1
NCST/60.0/1/2 -- only game with INT>TD
Cal/61.0/2/1

Hm...A couple things to notice here. JH only had one game with significant playing time (>10 pass attempts) where he threw more picks than TDs. Compare that to 4 games for Marve.

Also note that Marve was kicking ass through 9/27/08. That is 1 month in with 2 months to go. He regressed from that point, but Shannon still stood by him as the starter. He didn't pull a completion rating near decent until the last game of the season. I wonder if Eugene Marve has looked at these stats and is still in awe that Robert Marve wasn't the guaranteed starter next season? It'd be more amazing if Shannon said he *was* the starter! Compare also the 2 suspensions versus a kid who's kept his nose clean.

I think Eugene's go-to-the-press-and-badmouth-Shannon move is going to damage his son's prospects anywhere else. We all agree that Marve has great tools -- he's fast and has a cannon for an arm. However, balance that against his focus issues, athletic regression over the season, and whiny helicopter-dad...would you want him in your program?

THE PISTOL O WILL BE THE NEW SPREAD OFFENSE, BUT WITH A FAR SUPERIOR RUNNING GAME... I AM A STUDENT OF THE GAME, NOW THAT I DONT PLAY COLLEGE BALL (1AA) OR COACH 6A ANYMORE... THE PISTOL O HAS SO MANY OPTIONS AND WILL DRIVE A DC NUTS WITH THE RIGHT TALENT...

AGAIN I KNOW MIAMI WON'T GO IN THAT DIRECTION, BUT I STILL HOLD OUT HOPE... CHECK THERE O STATS, I POSTED THEM A FEW TIMES.. BUT THEYVE BEEN IN THE TOP 13 IN TOTAL O THE PAST 3 YEARS

UNLIKE THE SPEAD O, THE PISTOL WILL STILL DEVELOP PRO QUALITY PLAYERS... ALL THE SAME PLAYS CAN BE RAN OUT OF THE PISTOL.. ITS BASICALLY A 3WR SET 1 TE AND 1 RB. BUT IT PROVIDES A HUGE ADVANTAGE WHEN U USE MOTION AND PLAY ACTION.. THEY ALSO LIKE TO USE THE 3WR ON THE SAME SIDE TO CREATE MATCH UP PROBLEMS..

US CANES ARE TRULEY PROUD OF OUR PRO CANES.. BUT WE CAN'T FORGET THAT ITS ABOUT WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS NOT JUST DEVELOPING PRO'S

Marve's father is obviously the one making this such a problem. Marve said "I love Miami and I love being a Cane, I will always be a Cane. I wish things could be different." and Shannon said he wanted Marve to stay and he would have preferred that. so the only one not on the same page in this whole mix is Marve's father. he said he never really liked Randy and all that. hes just mad because his son isn't a football god like he wishes he was and he needs someone to blame since it cant possibly be his son's fault.

Nix is saying how Shannon wouldn't let him open it up, again just someone looking for someone else to blame for their own short comings. and many people and "fans" want to blame Shannon for being wishy washy or stupid but that's just cus hes still the only one involved with the program and they need someone to blame too. just like with the dual qb system, where both needed experience, and his strict discipline, Shannon will come out right on these decisions. And I don't think it should hurt recruiting, especially if they get a coordinator in the next few weeks. they will see it as Shannon making the moves to improve this team, and so far all the team has done under Shannon is improve.

Every article keeps saying LSU, UT, and Florida were Marve destinations of choice, but I think it was Auburn.

And I think Patrick Nix was asked to bring him. Pat Dye interviewed a very young and inexperienced OC for HC position? Not sure that interview was on the up and up...

My guess is that Nix was offered OC job in return for bringing Marve.

SAPP99 posted about Marve's dad mentioning Auburn in another post. And remember how sure the Auburn insiders were that Nix was going to be hired up until the day he wasn't.

LSU and Florida make no sense. Tennessee and Auburn do. Shannon has allowed 15+ guys to transfer to any other school besides Florida schools and ACC schools in his tenure. Kinda odd how this one is different. There is something bigger here. I think Nix getting axed before Shannon did his week of evaluation means something.

MESSAGE TO PLANT'S HIGHSCHOOL COACH: YOU TALKING TO MEDIA AND BLASTING ANOTHER COACH LET ALONE ANOTHER PERSON YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IS THE REASON YOU'RE COACHING IN HIGHSCHOOL AND HIM IN COLLEGE, WOW, YOU TALK ABOUT SHANNON BEING CLASSLESS AND YET YOU'RE THE ONE TALKING SMACK ABOUT SOMEONE YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT, AND BUDDY, NOBODY CARES IF YOU DON'T SEND ANOTHER KID FROM YOUR HS TO BE A CANE, IF YOU'RE THE ONE WHO IS GOING TO MAKE DECISIONS AND RESTRICTIONS TO YOUR OWN PLAYERS, THEN YOU ARE NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING SHANNON, TALK ABOUT BEING CONTROLLING RIGHT THERE! I MAY NOT AGREE WITH A LOT OF HIS COACHING AND DISCIPLINARIAN ANTICS, BUT ATLEAST HE DOESN'T GO TO THE MEDIA AND START BEING A DICK ABOUT THINGS THAT FRANKLY IS BASED
ON ONE KID'S STATEMENT, WAY TO BE AN ADULT, YOU PRUDE ASS MOTHER******!!!!!! BY THE WAY YOUR BOY WAS GIVEN COUNTLESS CHANCES AND HE BLEW IT, MAYBE IT WAS PLANT HIGHSCHOOL WHO NEEDS TO TEACH KIDS DISCIPLINE BEFORE THEY HEAD OUT TO COLLEGE, MARVE OBVIOUSLY HAD ISSUES ALREADY EVEN BEFORE PLAYING HIS 1ST START AS A CANE!!!!!

No I have had enough of Rnady Shannon. He is a sorry excuse for a head football coach and his handling of Marve has been a PR nightmare. Let the kid go with CLASS. Obviously Randy Shannon does not have CLASS. Ban him from the ACC and Florida schools and move forward!

I want Shannon fired and I will not support this team until they do. I am tired of it. I want a REAL head coach!

Open letter to Robert "Oscar Meyer" Weener:

It is YOU who influenced Marve throughout his hisgh school and now there, he is showing how immature he is. He got everything he wanted because youand daddy Marvey could never say no to him. He was spoiled and then he goes to college and all he does is get into petty trouble. He didnt follow the rules PLUS: He performed poorly!

Now you bad mouthing Randy Shannon and threatening that no Plant kid will ever go to UM is ridiculous- SO, NOW YOU WANT TO CONTROL WHERE A KID GOES TO COLLEGE? DO YOUHAVE THAT MUCH POWER? OR DO YOU DESIRE THAT MUCH POWER? REMEMBER- YOU ARE A HIGH SCHOOL COACH!

stop acting like a GUTLESS PANZY. Marve is a quitter

Marve is a quiiter. Transferring means you are a qui-tter. Unless for family reasons aka Shawnbrey McNeal

As for all of you morons (that is you ATl Cane): Get off RS's back. Realize (unless you are blind) that he had a an incredibly young team with literally no depth at skilled positions, nor any leadership. 7-6 is actually better than you think, given the schedule we played. They will get better. We do not need quitters like.

I agree that the pistol is not a bad idea because it allows our pro-style sets unlike a true spread/ option- did you see how difficult Nevada has been to stop? You literally have to outscore them!

By the way, Nix lovers:

WAS IT AN OPEN OFFENSE WHEN NIX WENT SUP THE MIDDLE ON 3RD AND 6? WAS IT "OPENING UP THE OFFENSE" WHEN YOUWENT TO THE SHOTGUN ON 4TH AND 1? WHAT ABOUT THE PEFORMANCE IN THE REDZONE?

ANOTHER HALLMARK OF QUITTERS AND IMMATURE LOSERS: BLAMING EVRYONE ELSE FOR YOUR MISTAKES! THEMARVES AND COACH WEENER ARE PERFECT EXAMPLES.

Why won't Randy Shannon allow Marve to transfer to an SEC school? I understand him not granting an ACC transfer, but SEC doesn't make sense. Let the kid go where he wants, it's bad enough he already has to sit out a year.

Randy Shannon is just a hater at this point. What do you care if he wants to go to UF. Maybe it's just a better fit for him.

Answer:
Out of 9 ACC bowl agreement, 1 is BCS (which can be SEC opponent) and 2 are with SEC.

Bowl Opponent

BCS BCS
Gator Big East/Big 12
Chick-fil-A SEC
Music City SEC
Humanitarian WAC
Meineke Car Care Big East
Champs Sports Big Ten
Emerald Pac-10
Congressional Navy/at-large

I can't believe how ugly the parents and coaches are making this. The guy is 19 years old. Let him do things for himself. Now the coach says no player of his will play at UM?? That's B.S.! His folks and coach need to grow balls and accept his short and mediocre career wasnt good enough anyway. Harris seems to be much better with the players. We need to focus on getting an O.C. and recruiting right now. Let's support our team! Go Canes!

Marve's high school coach, Tampa Plant's Robert Weiner, also lashed out and said: ''A player of mine won't play for Randy Shannon'' again.

Weiner said tight end Orson Charles, whom UM had been recruiting, definitely won't be attending Miami now. Marve was UM's only Plant player on the roster.

Looks like we are out of the running for olsen charles.

Why won't Randy Shannon allow Marve to transfer to an SEC school? I understand him not granting an ACC transfer, but SEC doesn't make sense. Let the kid go where he wants, it's bad enough he already has to sit out a year.

maybe because Marve and his camp were illegally talking to SEC schools like Tennessee florida or lsu. Those schools were talking to a kid who was under scholarship for the university of miami. Point blank period.
