Shannon, Jacory react to Marve suspension

GREENTREE PRACTICE FIELD -- UM coach Randy Shannon confirmed after Thursday's practice what Eugene Marve told us earlier this afternoon -- the Canes' starting quarterback has been suspended for the Emerald Bowl. But what stunned me wasn't that Shannon was short with his answers to reporter's questions to the Robert Marve story. We expected that.

Randy_shannon2What was strange to me was that he didn't seem extremely bothered by the fact the guy he started 11 times this season began his season suspended and will end it suspended for basically failing to what he's supposed to -- go to class and be there on time. "You're always disappointed when a violation of team rules occur," Shannon said after telling reporters the decision to suspend Marve was made Thursday morning. "But you know what, our job is to teach them and they learn from it. He'll bounce back and we'll keep him going.

"It's just a growing pain. He's a redshirt freshman, you got to get guys understanding that it takes certain time with guys. Everybody's not going to come in and do everything that's supposed to be done. It's our job to get them to do it... Our job is to educate the kids when something happens. And that's what my job is to educate them. This university has been very helpful in educating all the student athletes we have on campus and we'll keep doing those type of things."

Shannon said he hasn't heard any rumors about Marve transferring and said he expects him back after the bowl game. As expected, Jacory Harris will be the starter in San Francisco Dec. 27. The mild surprise? His backups will be walk-ons Matt Perrelli and Jake Byrne, the team's current holder and long-snappers. Shannon said he won't let Cannon Smith or Taylor Cook burn their redshirts (both would by playing this late in the season, despite not having played much if at all).

As for what this means for Marve's future, Shannon was asked if being suspended twice would affect his standing going into the quarterback competition (should Marve return) next year. His response, "Spring is Spring. This season is still this season. We're still in 2008. So we got to play this game as 2008. You can't get ahead of yourself. When you get ahead of yourself, that's when you screw up."

Jacory_harris2When asked a similar question in reference to what his second career start and the bowl game means to him, Harris responded a little differently than his coach: "This game right here for me is going to be the start of the 2009 season. It's going to start out like a miniature spring game. We're just going to go out there and show everybody what we have in store for next year."

Harris, who injured his throwing shoulder in the season finale, said right now his goal is "to lead the team to a bowl victory." "That's all I can do," Harris said. "It's unfortunate about the situation that took place. I just got to go out and have a good game and my team will be behind me."

> Don't expect Jacory to be scared about starting. He's looking forward to it. "I think its easier to start a game," Harris said. "Coming off the bench, that's where the pressure comes in. You got to keep the momentum. If your down, you got to come back. If your up, you got to keep them going. And if you don't, people will say why didn't your bring us back? Why didn't you keep the momentum going? I've heard a lot this year about Jacory -- the momentum lacks when he's in the game. I just laugh and have fun."

> Harris said he still hadn't spoken to Marve about what happened because the team hadn't learned about his suspension until practice. But he -- along with others -- inferred they would be calling Marve to make sure he was OK. But most said they were told not to talk about the situation.

> For those of you hearing the complete interviews with coach Shannon and Jacory, visit our audio page.

> I'll keep this short since it's basketball newsy and I know there's a lot smaller of an audience for it. UM forward Jimmy Graham was seen wearing a cast on his right wrist Thursday. But I've been told by UM sports information director Margaret Belch, the injury was not serious. X-rays were negative and Graham supposedly practiced like usual. "He slipped in the shower, but it's not that serious," Belch told me. "From what I've heard he's supposed to play Sunday." UM hosts 25th-ranked Clemson (10-0) in its ACC opener on Sunday. Frank Haith is supposed to address the media Friday afternoon.

> On the recruiting front, I spoke with the father of Jared Wheeler this morning on my drive back from Orlando. He said Shannon and coach Jeff Stoutland are supposed to make an in-home visit tonight to the Wheeler home. Tuesday, the Wheelers hosted Vanderbilt. Jim Wheeler said UM coaches have been telling his son they'd like to try him out first at tackle, but realize "he's a kid that could play anywhere on the line, from guard to center if he had to." As for UM's chances -- they look really good. Wheeler said while Vanderbilt is great and offers many of the same things UM does, the distance seems to be favoring UM. Look for a possible commitment announcement soon.

What an early Christmas gift for Jacory...and hopefully fans.

What an early Christmas gift for Jacory...and hopefully fans.

thank you manny

hopefully the talking heads calling our bowl game will mention the fact that, here at Miami, we hold student athletes to a higher standard, that we are educators first, and we hold our players accountable for their actions, unlike some schools (caughcaugh UF caughcaugh)...

I know people think Shannon is too strict but maybe this will help dispell the whole thug U notion...

I support rs and Marve and hope he stays to compete going forward

THIS MIGHT END UP BEING THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN THE THE CANES SINCE THE PROBATION YEARS... I TRULEY HOPE NOT BUT ALL YOU MARVE HATERS WILL BE KICKING YOURSELVES IF( MORE LIKLEY WHEN HE TRANSFERS)...

I AM CONFIDENT IN HARRIS, BUT TO MANY OF U ARE DRINKING HIS KOOL-AID... DON'T BRING ME THESE UNFOUNDED STATS, MARVE HAS BEEN THE BETTER QB THIS YEAR...

THAT BEING SAID, HARRIS STILL CAN PULL OUT A W AGAINST CAL, THAT IS IF THE D DOMINATES, AND JACORY DOES WHAT HE DOES BEST, BE A CARETAKER, AKA TRENT DILFER..

GO CANES

Shannon had no touch and he is ridiculous.
He won't last very long at the U at this pace.
No class or touch at all.
It seems as he is encouraging Marve to leave.

I GOTTA AGREE JERRY, I SUPPORT SHANNON, ALMOST BLINDLY, BUT HE MISHANDLED THE QB SITUATION,, ESPECIALLY IN THE PRESS..

DO YOU THINK MARINO OR MONTANA WOULD HAVE LET THERE TEAM DOWN BY BEING SUSPENDED FOR 2 GAMES THE FIRST YEAR THEY WERE STARTERS. I THINK NOT. MARVE IS NOT A LEADER, LEADERS DONT GET SUSPENDED FOR THE 1ST GAME OF THEYRE CAREER , NOR FOR THE 1ST BOWL GAME . CAN YOU IMAGINE DORSEY MISSING THE SUGAR BOWL AGAINST FLORIDA, OR THE ROSE BOWL AGAINST NEBRASKA OR THE FIESTA AGAINST OHIO STATE, OR HIS 1ST BOWL- THE GATOR BOWL. BIG PLAYERS SHOW UP FOR BIG GAMES, I DONT THINK HE WILL MAKE THE TRIP.

"THE JACORY HARRIS ERA BEGINS NOW"

HARRIS IS BETTER BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS ANYWAY. MARVE ,THANKS FOR MAKING RANDYS JOB EASY ON HIM. HARRIS MENTALLY WAS WAY AHEAD OF MARVE.
MARVE SHOULD HAVE NEVER STARTED AGAIN AFTER UCF AND DUKE GAMES.
"THE JACORY HARRIS ERA BEGINS NOW"

That shows you all in Cane land we lack leadership from the head coaches all the way down to the assistants coaches, this was a on-going problem and nobody address the issue, but yet Marve came out and start every saturday, Shannon is not true to his words, Marve missed about 4 classes prior to this one, man where is the program heading, no wonder the players didn't fight for Marve or rallied around him like they did Jacory, now I kind of understand Jacory"s father frustration, if Shannon want to hold people accountable it should start with him. Cane land this is a crucial time in our program and players respond when words are measure by actions and everybody is accountable to the program including our coaching staff.

Marve played well but hardly great at any time this yr. Marve is a redshirt freshman will he improve, probably some, maybe a lot, maybe not at all, nothing is a given. He improved some during the season, adding touch to more of his throws, a good sign. Harris looked more poised, seemed to see the field better , has the extra height to see the field. Seemed to have more team support or energize the offensive players more. Off field so far not close Marve seems like he attracts problems, Harris seems to shed problems. Why not go with Harris , tell Marve he will be a back up , be up front, do not try to please everyone that only ends up pleasing no one.

Agreed Jerry.

The surprise suspensions he handed for the first game showed a total lack of class and deftness in dealing with the situation.

This suspension seems even more ridiculous.

I really want to be behind Randy, but this is a tough one to swallow. Don't get me wrong, the adherence to discipline is appreciated, but there is a delicate balance that needs to be struck and it seems that Randy has yet to come anywhere near finding that balance.

I hope I'm wrong. I'm also getting tired of hoping that I'll be wrong...

Jerry,
When are these kids suppose to be accountable for their actions?? The kid missed classes. I am sorry but unless you have no ambtion in life you shouldnt miss one class unless sick or your grandma really dies. If a student not on scholarship missed that many classes your grade is deducted 4 - 6% at the end of the semester. This is the problem with the Atheletes today they feel they are entitled. Marve was warned not to miss more classes and he continued to miss. He missed the classes, he got arrested downtown miami. Marve is at fault. Not Shannon who has to do this to keep order. Otherwise the players will turn into PennState and start getting arrested and still playing on Saturdays.. Wow that is funny thing to say. THUG P!!He made an example and to be honest I think we will be just fine without him.

Why is he suspended from practice? I understand not going to the bowl game, but why not let/make him practice? Run the scout team or something.
When he missed Charleston, did he practice that week?
I don't understand.

Shannon has definately handled this situation poorly...I appreciate the discipline but at some point you stick up for your guys and give them the benifit of the doubt.
Hopefully we'll see Marve back next season...

The way the University of Miami handled the Robert Marve situation was absolutely pathetic, Marve was in a no win situation the entire year, he had one quarter to prove himself and if he didnt start out hot he was done, an offense needs time to adjust to things just like a defense and he wasnt given time to adjust, the 2 qb system was horrible. Marve had a signed letter and it still wasnt good enough? Shame on Shannon for the way he handled this, i hope all you jacory lovers are happy, i like the kid too but you guys are way too high on him, be careful what you wish for

If Miami was winning no one would be ragging on Shannon for this.

As an aside, all this talk of Marve transferring - where did it come from? Shannon hasn't heard it, Marve's father denied it, Marve hasn't said it. Yet we have Cote asking if Marve is basically being forced out and Manny asking if this is the "last straw." Give us the news when there's news but stop speculating.

It's hilarious to see clowns on here posting that Shannon has "no class" and is "in over his head" for enforcing team rules and treating his athletes like the adults they are. I'm sure if this blog were around during the Butch years you nitwits would have been calling for his head.

And I have not heard from one source other than the Herald and Sentinel writers that Marve is planning on transferring. I understand reporting on possible fires if there is smoke, but it seems like the reporters are the ones rubbing the sticks together.

Notice the differences in responses by th QB's. Marve says you have to treat it like it's 2008 then Jacory says its the start of 2009. Tells me J12 doesnt plan on relinquishing the job and Marve just wants to but 2008 in the past and MOVE ON, from the suspension of course.

Dear coach shannon,
i dont think its fair that i have to go to my classes on time. I also dont think its fair that i should have to compete with this jacory harris guy. I have been one year longer and weigh 25 more pounds than he does, so i should be permanent starter based on my weight alone. Class isnt that important to me, I am busy refining my interception to touchdown ratio. I think 9 tds in 11 games is alot and 13 picks isnt enough. I had 1293 yards this year coach in 11 games that ranks among the top 120 QBs in the nation, im atleast 113 out 120. i would also like to point out technically i threw 11 touchdowns this year , one to a corner and one to a defensive end. i know they werent on my team and it cost us but I do outweigh Jacory by 25 pounds.
Now that you know why i should allways be the starter and jacory should redshirt and ride the bench. IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO START ME I WILL GO HOME AND I WILL TRANSFER. so what if im suspended for my 1st bowl game, its my 2nd suspension in 1 year. I shouldnt have to go to class i had 9 tds in 11 games and i weigh 25 more pounds than jacory.

START ME OR MY MOMMY AND DADDY WILL LET ME TRANSFER SO I CAN BRING ALL MY FUTURE POTENTIAL TO ANOTHER BIG SCHOOL AND HAVE A STARTING SPOT PROMISED TO ME.

SINCERLY YOURS
ROBERT MARVE JR. 9TDS, 13 INTS ,1293 YARDS ,205 POUNDS AND 6'1 WITH TONS OF FUTURE POTENTIAL .
PS. "FUTURE POTENTIAL" THAT WOULD BE AN AWESOME TATOO FOR MY AWESOME 205 POUND FRAME.

Optimus, first of all, these are kids, not adults. They can't drink and they are students, not pros. To suggest that a 19 year old kid should be just as mature as Randy Shannon is a bit nonchalant, don't you think?

No one is saying Marve didn't screw up, just that the punishment doesn't fit the crime, especially for a freshman. This is like handing out a year in jail for rolling through a stop sign.

Have you even for a second put yourself in Marve's shoes? Think about how you would feel, after almost a year, spring, summer, training camp, then days before the first game of your college career the coach springs on you that you're suspended. Not classy or well thought out in my opinion. That said, we can agree to disagree.

Now, you're in Shannon's shoes. You find out that your starting QB, a 19 yo redshirt frosh with a lot of pressure on him to maintain his grades so that the whole world doesn't hate him and find out that he's a "moron" or "sociopath", as has been written on this site by his supposed "fans", anyway, you find out that he was late to his fourth class of the semester, violating one of your rules. Thing is, he was late because he was in discussions with his professor from the previous class and that this professor is sticking up for young Robert and taking part of the blame for the tardiness.

OK, you're coach Shannon, do you:
A) consider the professor's statement that he was the reason for Marve's tardiness and that he was helping Marve with his class and take this into account when considering the punishment?
or
B) doggedly and without consideration or thought stick to the letter of the law and go ahead and suspend him?

To me, and I would venture to many of the players past, present and future, Shannon's response in this situation does not show discipline, but rather laziness, a lack of backbone, and a lack of reason and discretion.

Again, I think all Canes fans appreciate the attention to detail and the general tone of discipline and accountability that Randy Shannon has brought back to the program. Randy needs to understand, however, that accountability is a two way street. Just as Marve is accountable to Shannon, the University and the team, so Shannon is accountable to Marve and his family. I think it's pretty clear that Shannon has failed Robert Marve over the past six months. He has treated this young man as an object and not a young man.

What's worse, though, are those in the Miami family who wish to cast Marve aside as though he were a rapist or something. C'mon folks, whether you agree with the punishment or not, give the kid a break. Sure he's made a mistake or two, but to err is human, n'est pas?

And Marves errors simply have not been that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Cut the kid some slack.

g8rh8r ,
IM GONNA CUT YOU SOME SLACK, YOU WILL BE ON JACORYS BAND WAGON AFTER THE CAL GAME..
THE JACORY HARRIS ERA HAS BEGUN
LONG LIVE THE CANES.

I think what everyone needs to realize, is that if Marve had not miss the 1st, 2nd or 3rd class, we would not be having this conversation. You have to be held accountable for your actions. I agree that the fact the instructor verified his story makes it(the suspension) seem a little petty, but the previous misses is what hurt him. I hope he does not leave either. He just needs to learn from his mistakes and come back and fight for the starting position.

I'm a professor. If the earlier class was a tight fit with the English class then being slightly late with a note should not have resulted in such a drachonian punishment.

Que sera sera, whatever ever will be will be. So much said and so much made of a kid who missed three classes -- tried an excuse of a fourth time unsuccessfully. Seems like a failure to take responsibility for his actions.

The coach does not play. He knew this from the get go. He knew this from the first game. He knew this from Sam Shields and every practice -- and yet he tests the coach over and over again. Why risk the thing you love most, playing football but not playing by the minor rules.

Take your bitter pill and move on. Hope to god that you get your next shot next year. Transferring is not the answer as growing up and taking responsibility is. If you keep this up, Jacory will eat your lunch -- if he hasn't already.

The time has come... to FREE JACORY!

http://www.neighborhoodies.com/free-jacory-tshirt-hoodie-p-1048.html

I hope Marve has fun at Baylor or whatever fourth-rate school he winds up on the bench for in 2010!

Manny, quick question...is Wheeler any good?

Jacory will be the reason we lose to Cal.

Are you kidding, Marve gets suspended for being late for a class!!!! Randy Shannon just wants to start Jacory Harris, he's using this as an excuse.

Marve should just transfer, clearly he is not wanted here.

Randy Shannon imposes way to many rules on these kids....we used to run wild in the 80's and win championships all over the place.

Antwan Lowery to Rutgers. The fence around the state of Miami is a little more porous than last year. I would say that I hope we meet Rutgers in the next few years if it didn't mean going to a lame bowl game. I'd like to crush them for always trying to some to S. Fla. for their recruits. I would do the same thing, but its annoying when everyone's hands are in the cookie jar. We let too many talented players leave Florida this year. We didn't even recruit Eugene Smith?? Are you kidding me?

Randy Shannon is an idiot!!! If he doesn't want Marve to be the starter he should just bench him. Don't hide behind some stupid rule about not attending class. The kid didn't skip, he was late because he was talking to another professor. His intention was to make it to class ontime, Randy is simply being a jerk.

I don't blame Marve for tranferring, clearly the HC doesn't want him on the team.

How in the f*** did we lose Lowery!

People are fixating too much on the last class Marve missed. He put himself in that situation by missing three others before that. You always want to have a margin for error, but he burnt his up. That's the kind of thing you learn at his age. It's not the end of the world. If he stays, which he should, he'll have an equal chance to compete for the starting job in the spring. I don't care if Jacory hangs 60 on Cal, it will be open season in the Spring and may the best QB win. And then there's the injury situation. How many backup QB's did we face this year?

Did Shannon suspend Marve, or did Marve get himself suspended? There are three sets of people who dislike Shannon. 1) People who just dont understand college athletics 2) People who arent used to a Black Authoritative figure 3)People who are racist

Great, so now Urban Meyer is gonna have another Mr. Football from FL and the same guy who broke Tebow's records in HS. Maybe if Randy was smart he'd know how to use Marve not waste him like all the other talent we have. FIRE RANDY NOW!!!! You're a disgrace to the U.

And all the talk about "if Randy doesn't want Marve to be here..." That is such a ridiculous idea its laughable. Randy started him all season and stuck by him during that mid-season slump when he struggled. Randy is just trying to lay the foundation for a LONG TERM return to dominance by instilling discipline, developing and sense of team and family, and returning to the roots of Miami football (local talent, speed, hardhitting stingy D, wanting it more than everyone else, owning the 4th quarter, and more speed). Even if holding the line means that a player decided he'd rather go somewhere else where the rules are more lax, overall this approach will pay dividends both on the field and in the lives of these young men. One of the keys to succeeding in life is to stop blaming the rest of the world for what isn't right in one's life and holding the man in the mirror accountable.

I'm glad everyone is coming out of the closet for this one. Awesome guys!

Anyway, I guess my initial reaction to this is that Marve and Shannon both made questionable decisions. Marve, even though he is a freshman, has done the college thing for a year and should understand the demands better. If showing up to class is something in the team rules, then show up to class. Sit in the back and fall asleep if you have to! I don't know what sort of contact RS had with Marve throughout the season about the class issue, but it certainly sounds like he's at least discussed it prior to the beginning of the season. I think Shannon understands the media and fan hype surrounding the Hurricanes, so I have to believe he made the proper decision, but it certainly seems suspicious.

In any case, I feel bad for everybody in this deal. Shannon and his staff get criticized, Marve gets criticized, and now Harris (even though it appears he's on the "winning" side) gets the media limelight for being named the starter.

I agree with you LAcanefane, Shannon was the most supportive Marve through thick or thin. Marve just have to hold himself accountable and become more discipline. When he becomes more discipline it will display on the field and better leadership qualities will develop on his behalf.

And people wake up!!!! Rules are rules he broke the rules. He had already missed 3 classes, he knew he couldn't miss the class for the 4th time. Marve knew better, he wasn't even performing well in that class(father admitted it in the article). I am a college student and I know if I have to speak with a professor of all I have to do is make an appointment, especially if I know it may conflict with another class.

Marve you are talented, but grow up man. Don't let your talent go to waste.

One last thought: I really hope Marve stays and competes. There is just something special about Miami football that I think he will miss out on if the rumors are true and he decides to leave. How special is Miami football? Well, here's a confession: I am a UCLA alum, but a life long Hurricanes football fan. I watched the Canes win all 5 of their NCs (and lose the other 5 or whatever) and I and everyone here knows what when the Canes are rolling like ONLY they can do, the feeling is of total elation and electricity. That's how it is just for fans. I can't imagine how great it must be for the players when that's happening. Marve can be a part of that. He chose Miami for a reason and I think he should and will still be a part of that legacy. Dorsey, Shockey, Portis, Reed and the boys brought us back from the probation years and Marve, Jacory and the rest of the baby Canes can be the ones who bring us back from the Coker hangover.

Coach Shannon is a joke - he won 1 game in the ACC his first year, his team get blown out on Natinoal TV time and time again. He can't beat GT, NC or NC State! But hey, we have the most disciplined team in college football so who cares about winning football games. You show up 15 minutes late to class and you miss the bowl game and the experience of being in a bowl for the first time,,,seems fair to me and to those of you who are to the right of Hitler. Give me a break. Shannon is a control freak who has shown that he is in way over his head. Marve has a lot of talent, but you people know nothing about football. This kid just needs to be coached by a real coach and his raw talent will shine through. It is amazing to me how many of you so-called fans are putting this kid down, he did not rob anyone, he did not beat up a cop like the FSU linebacker did (and he played every game that same year), he was not found with drugs... you people are fascists.... going to class is important, but the punishment here does not fit the crime, if you will. Shannon needs to be coaching at Army where his discipline crap is both expected and part of the deal. Miami is not Army and we have not had a real discipline problem for a while. Shannon and Nix should both be suspended for the bowl game as well since they have both failed at their jobs miserably this year.... part of Shannon's rules include being suspended for failing classes, so they should suspend themselves for failing Coaching 101..

Hey Dade COunty: Where you born stupid or did you have to work at it? Name one college football program that has benched their starting QB for a bowl game for being late to class? I dare you...go ahead...name one.. it is you who does not have a clue about life or college athletics. And by the way brother, it is time to get over the race thing already...we have a black President now, let it go....my man.... this has nothing to do with race...both QB's are black and the Head Coach is black, so leave race out of it for once in your life...not everything is about race... slavery ended over a century ago... time to move on... and learn something about football for a change.

Just another player blaming his actions on someone else. He was talking to another teacher. Whose fault is that. He knew the rules, he had been warned, he knew the consequences, he chose to ignore. I think he is just headed to more trouble.

the ones who think shannon was wrong for suspending marve are whats wrong with the youth of this generation...no responsibility or acccountability....its not the fact that he missed 1 class but he missed FOUR...no one is above the rules...if shannon wanted to bench marve he could have in the middle of the season when he was underperforming but he started EVERY game he played in...if this was any1 else, you who question this decision, would be applauding shannon for holding guys accountable...quarterbacks are supposed to set the example for the rest of the team

Hey CAnes1- Time out. Thi kid has been trouble from the get go, or at least he putshimself in stupid situations:
-the accident, while not his fault is where it started. IT was HIS CAR. He fell asleep in theback and Jermaine was driving it. All 3 could have been killed or paralyzed.
-He then missed all of lasy year and we definitely could have used him!
-then the altercation when he vandalized someone ELSE'S car! Then this!

We don't need punk a$-es like this at the U. Not at a critical moment like this. Not in a position of leadership like the QB. we need a leader. A qbthat stays focused and leads his team ona nd off the field.

Marve, even if you do transfer, who the f-#- in their right mind would take you?

Whoever says that the first suspension of Marve was a suprise was not paying attention When Randy was hired he came in with new rules and one of the rules was that any kid arrested would be suspended. He couldn't suspsend Marve when the arrest happened because he was redshirting. Thus he suspended him the first game that he would have played in.

You can't have some rules for some and others for the rest. Shannon showed he was a man of his word and that everybody had to follow the rules. Marve knew the rules and got arrested for breaking the somebody else's property. It was not a surprise if you were paying attention to the team news.

Just because it may take a while for your trial to come along in a criminal case doesnt mean you won't get punished. Or if a child throws a tantrum in the store the parent doesn't have to punish them there. Anybody arguing about the first suspension doesn't know much about instilling discipline.

Hey Canes1.... The correct word you are looking for is "WERE" not "where". I guess you are the one that was born stupid. Ouch. Grammar is a b!tch

Awesome post Canes1. Right on.

Something isn't right about the Marves' explanation for Robert's suspension. Since when do people for the athletic department go around to classes checking up on attendence of football players? Are all players checked on, or only Marve? And, if only Marve, why? There must be a reason. How many football players' attendence can possibly be checked by having someone come to the beginning of a class? This can't be right.

I know it for a fact that the attendence of UM sudent-athletes in classes is ordinarily NOT checked this way. If, in fact, this incident happened the way Marve's Dad explained it, then it must be because the department was alerted by one of Marve's teachers about a particularly egregious problem - and that he was on the verge of failing the course, at least in part due to poor attendence.

Let's face it. The kid is young. He's immature. But these are not qualities UM looks for in a starting quarterback.

Right off the top of my head, Chris Rix you dumb son of a btch. And I'm sure there are more. Damn, do some HW before you open your ignorant mouth. And then he says "I dare you", like he's so confident. Dumb a_ss.

The U - Marve Out + Harris In = Win Win Win! U will see! U will see!

Send him to Florida. This guy is not a leader of a program rebuilding itself. He needs to be surrounded by producers to succeed. Jacory Harris has the intangibles required to be effective with the present UM team. Right now, intangibles and leadership are more important to continue our improvement. Raw physical talent i snot always requisite for a great QB. Example: Dorsey vs. Berlin.
