The Hot Stove: Marve, Bryce and recruiting

There's never a time of year quite like that little gap when the football regular season ends and the bowl game takes place. At The U, that time was usually reserved for rumors of who might decide to leave school early for the NFL or who might be leaving a coaching job here for a better one somewhere else. These days it's a little different.

Among the many rumors heard around The U this week: Robert Marve is disgruntled and leaving the program; highly-touted recruit Bryce Brown isn't coming to UM anymore; Patrick Nix is getting fired; Jack McClinton is going to play the part of Rick James in a movie; and the reason I didn't get into that club last weekend in Louisville was because I can't wear skinny jeans. In search of some truth, I spent the past three nights talking to folks in and around this program to try and provide you with what I believe is behind all of this internet, hearsay madness. And so far, the only rumor I can confirm with 100 percent certainty is the last one. I didn't get into that club because of my baggy jeans.

But as for the rest, here is what I'm hearing...

> It's on good word the parents of quarterback Robert Marve had some sort of a meeting with Randy Shannon before the coach flew to San Francisco for some bowl festivities Robert_marve2Wednesday. From what I gathered, Marve's future at Miami remains unclear. It's unknown exactly what was discussed. But the fact remains he started 11 games this season. As one person told me, "He had a chance to put a stranglehold on the position with 11 starts and he didn't." My guess is his family wants what's best for their son. And there's nothing wrong with that. After all, this could all be about nothing serious. But I've been told family-coach meetings are rare during the season. That should show you how important the issue is for both sides. Don't look for any public statements on this until the issue is resolved.

Meanwhile, if Marve does leave as the hot rumor suggests, he's been tied to USF, LSU and UF on internet message boards and blogs. Here's what makes sense to me. If he does decide to leave, don't expect him to be granted a release to USF. Miami plays USF, after that newly signed deal, many times over the next few years. And the Canes don't usually allow players to transfer to future opponents.

> While Marve's future at UM is unclear, one thing is certain: he has not been is suspended for violating any team rules. In fact, no player at UM has been suspended for breaking any team rules (as of right now). We will find out next Wednesday, however, if someone failed to meet the academic requirements to remain eligible for the Emerald Bowl on Dec. 27.

> As for Miami's other quarterback, Jacory Harris, I don't expect him to be going Jacory_harris2_2anywhere regardless of whether or not Marve transfers after the bowl game. Harris, I'm told, is extremely happy at Miami. While Jacory's parents are expected to request a meeting after the season with Shannon to talk about their son (much the same way as Marve), no one should think Harris wants out. The family loves being close to their son and do not want to have to drive far to watch their son play. In fact, even though at first they thought the two QB system might not work, they were pleasantly surprised it did. Just don't take that to mean they'll be happy with it being in place moving forward.

Jermaine_mckenzie> From what I hear, expect a handful of players -- especially running backs who hardly played and tight ends and linemen who never play -- to be transferring to new schools after the bowl game (just like last year). One guy who I don't expect to leave is receiver Jermaine McKenzie. His father told me Monday night Jermaine is finally healthy (100 percent) and they expect him to compete at a higher level this spring. While Jermaine was frustrated he didn't catch a pass this season, I'm told he believes in the coaches, who keep urging him to compete.

> As for highly-touted running back Bryce Brown, who told Scout.com last week he was no longer planning on enrolling at UM in January, the Canes are still very confidentBryce_brownthey'll land the blue-chipper from Kansas. Brown has been busy taking official visits to Clemson, Missouri and Oregon. He still has another trip scheduled to Purdue and his final trip to Miami. But the word is Oregon is the only team that really might be able to sway Brown away from the Canes. Bryce said in a candid video interview with Scout he loved the feel at Oregon. I just don't expect it to be strong enough to pull him away from UM in the end and neither do the Hurricanes' brass who believe his relationship with Arthur Brown will prevail.

> Plantation cornerback and UM commitment Brandon McGee and I spoke for about 15 minutes regarding Brown, who will be his teammate at the U.S. Army All-American game next month in San Antonio. This is what McGee told me: "It kind of threw me off that he's not coming early anymore. But I still think he's going to be a Cane. We talk on the phone and he tells me how he's working on getting some linemen to come here. I'd be really surprised if he changed his mind."

> McGee, who said he will begin his career at UM as a cornerback, will begin classes at UM on Jan. 20 and is expecting to room with running back Mike James. He said he's been busy working out since his season ended three weeks ago. Lately, he's been busy trying to Browmcgeerecruit for the Canes, chatting it up with receiver Andre DeBose (one of the Sanford trio). This weekend, McGee will celebrate his birthday by taking an official visit with fellow commitments James, tight end Billy Sanders, tight end Stephen Plein, defensive end Olivier Vernon and defensive lineman Curtis Porter. The plan is to help try and create a family feel with the big guys who will also be visiting this weekend -- offensive linemen Bobby Massie, Daniel Campbell and Jermaine Johnson. "We're definitely trying to get some of those big men to commit," McGee said. "Coach Stoutland told us he needs an assist."

Canethang, AKA STAT BOY

ITS GREAT U CAN LOOK UP STATS BUT THEUR IS SO MUCH MORE TO FOOTBALL THAN JUST STATS. IF U CAN SIT BACK AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE 2 QB'S WITHOUT YOUR PERSONAL BIAS U WILL SEE MARVE HAS MORE POTENTIAL...

COME ATTAK ME WITH STATEMENTS OUT OF CONTEXT?

I CHALLENGE U OR ANYONE ELSE ON FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE!! NOT STATS OR PLAYERS, BUT FOOTBALL SCEMES, PHILOSOPHY, OR TECHNIQUES... YOU CALLED OUT THE WRONG MAN, HOOO

NIX ISNT AS BAD AS MARVE MAKES HIM LOOK-Posted by: canethang

YOU KNOW THIS HOW? ANOTHER BLOGGER THATS SPATS OFF AT HIS MOUTH WITH NOTHING TO BACK IT UP....

We all saw this year that this team will never be a National Title contender with Marve. He can't check down and takes off at the first sign of pressure-- in what way other than speed is he any different than Kyle Wright?

Posted by: Joe | December 11, 2008 at 05:54 AM

How can you say that? You really might be one of the dumbest human beings on the planet. The sad thing is that most of our fan base is absolutely retarded, like yourself, and has NO football knowledge whatsoever. Incredible.

On RS Keeping his job:

1)he is a lean mean recruiting machine! That by itself is the 800 lb gorilla of a consideration to keep him.

2)He has the mentality of the great Canes Teams. I feel that his NC every year attitude will keep him in trouble with a part of the Canes Fan group who are saying they would be satisfied with a 9 and 3 years. RS will sacrifice wins on an non NC year to get a chance to get to the top.

3)He doesn't have to quit...daaaa? He just has to hire a terrific OC. Get Norm Chow and promise him a crack at the helm down the road.

Summary:) RS will get another stunner of a recruiting class. We will move forward. Nix will be let go -- or he will transfer to Auburn as an OC (they won't hire him as the HC):(

It's nice to see guys like Brandon McGee say he's been helping recruit players.

NOW THAT'S A REAL HURRICANE...!!!

Guys...
This is a learning year for everyone,... Randy, Pat, Bill, Assistants, QB's and Team. It's not like the coaches had continuity with 6/7 years experience in developing a game plan format of working together. Great defenses and Offenses take time to develop, where the senior and juniors know the system from their growth as a freshman... working their way up the chain.

Historians should call this "The Great Year of Transformation"... Hell, just look at the transformation from senior and junior players to recruits taking over. Game by game, we saw, as many as, 18 recruits playing... with new Offense and Defense packages!!! What do you expect... Perfection?

Now look at the QB's... Marve and Harris didn't have the Juniors and Senior to look up to and to grow by... What I call fresh meat in a make shift offensive package

Nix's new packages were limited to basic and repeated plays with the exception of a few wild cats. The OL was porous at times giving both QB's only 2 seconds to complete a pass when the play calls for 3 seconds. Our power running plays were limited because JJ was hurt half the time, which put all the pressure on passing.

Now throw in Nix's conservative Red Zone plays, with Coop up the middle... Love ya Coop but your a better outside runner.

Defenses were reading our keys and blitzing by the 3rd game and by the 10th game, forget about it! GT and NCSt knew exactly what we were running and the key word was pressure the QB's and look for interceptions!

Do I like Marve and Jacory?... Your damn right I do.
Do both need improving?... Absolutely.

Marve... Check off receivers, more arch, check ball speed but has great athletic ability and should ask Nix to roll out more to see the field. and it forces option to 2nd and 3rd receivers!

Harris... Weight, More zip on the ball, has tendency to loft the ball rather then place the ball but a great field general and ask Nix to check off and change plays on the line.

CanesThang... impressive collection of Stats but stats don't tell the whole story... Both QB's are very good and we would be crazy to let either one go but Nix must find a way to develop each one to his own great potential. To be honest, Nix should have already be on this 5 games ago but maybe he's to busy figuring out what play to run on 4th and one.

Manny... Thanks for the up-date... keep it hot!!!

BEST POST OF THE DAY, A REALISTIC LOOK...

Canethang....just relax man. It seems you really have nothing better to do since you called me out not once but twice. Obviously if you look at statistics then my argument seems like a joke. It's funny that you say I know nothing about football. I actually watch all the football games. I watched Colt McCoy his freshmen year instead of read his stats on ESPN's bottom ticker. You see Canethang, I am not a fantasy dork like you. Stats don't mean #### to me. Take into account that his team was a top 5 team in the league. He took a over a team that went undefeated the year before. He still lost three games that year. There was one game that he got hurt in the first quarter and Texas scored 42 points with their back up qb. Marve had to take over a team that was 5-7 the year before and played with a horrible line and frehsmen receivers. I am not some ignorant fan who just says thing. I made those comments because I remember watching McCoy and remembering how Texas fans were annoyed with him that year. I thought he had more turnovers than he did but I was wrong about that. However, for you to compare Marve to Kyle Wright is sad. Kyle Wright never escaped a broken down play...ever. That is Marve's speciality. And comparing him to Kirby....Marve can throw the ball further and with more velocity with his left arm than Kirby can with his right. And keep going by stats with Marve and Jacory. Jacory played a Div 1 AA one game. And then got to pounce on weak defenses like Duke and Virginia. Jacory never played well against a good defense this year. Wake Forest? Virginia Tech? FSU? I understand Jacory can dominate the bad defenses. But when there is a good defense Marve has the arm to get it done. Don't forget him putting away Wake in those closing minutes.

86, whether you like or not, has gumption. LOL. Guys, you have to accept the fact he is a fellow Canes fan. He may have his moments when he posts and rubs the beaks the wrong way but you gotta have a big ego to start your own blog and keep at it for this long. Good with the Bad and it is all good if you are a Canes Fan!

Stop this nonsense about Marve not good or should leave. We need two very good QB's. Injuries is part of football and it doesn't take much for a QB to go down.

Maybe you guys are clamoring for Cannon Smith to be the back up? He may surprise but please, no way Marve is that bad. He was player of the week x 2. They are both young and need more experience.

Manny...U should know better by now. … Third of all I only post POSITIVE comments about you and your blog. This is a joke right?

PHONIER THAN A 3-DOLLAR BILL

hopefully arthur brown convince bryce to stay at the DA U if not it would be a huge lost but man jacory is a special player better than marve has the soft touch deadly accurate and when he is in the game he makes the offense look soo smooth are big hole will be on the offensive line if marve and his family feal he deserves the keys to car then they need to transfer how can someone want so much but yet has done so little when named the starter but jacory is over his shoulder and they know if jacory is starting he will remain the starter so kudos to jacory randy just do the rite thing and start jacory and get rid of terrible nix

Green... Other then soup, do you have anything to say about football? Why do you persist with this nonsense? It seems your developed hatred is close to stocking. 95 percent of your comments are written to destroy Soup by going to Canespace.com and read his posts and then clipping out certain sentences and post them here. Yet you don't take all of the hundreds and perhaps thousands of informative articles that he has written about the Canes...

Does he advertise on here ...Yes and Manny has approved it. In fact Manny was the one to refer everybody from here to his site. Stating that Canespace was a Great Canes Board and we should check it out... Do you remember about a year ago?

Does Manny come on Canespace and blog... Yes, Often and When he has time. Does he come on Canespace and advertise a new article up... Yes all of the time! but do you post that...NO.

Have all of us, at one time or another posted a stupid comment and wished we hadn't... You betcha... and his biggest blunder was in trying to inform us of a rumor that turned out to be half true... a lesson learned and not repeated...

but maybe your too good to remember your bads.

Stop with the hate... Your better then this.

you gotta have a big ego to start your own blog and keep at it for this long.

LI(A)BEL

how does it feel to be an 86Cane Csucker?

DIRTY OLD MAN

The duke game made Harris's stats look way better than Marve's. That said I think best for the U if Marve left, not because Marve is a bad kid or a bad qtback. Marve is good but two qt system does not work, and Harris has the best tempo, timing, and cool on the field. So Harris should starte,, Marve not good on the bench all of the time, that will not work with him. conclusion Marve should leave, best for him.

Agree with the reasonable posts, not so much with the hyperventilators, as usual. Killin' me.

Next year will be a lot more telling about this program's future than this one (not that this one was all that bad, if you think about it). Coach Shannon has laid a solid talent foundation and, at least as importantly, a winning culture of accountability.

Yeah, the D (as usual) is ahead of the O and should be even better next year, but even the O showed flashes despite the limitations (of BOTH personnel and coaching -- can't blame one alone). Also, as someone noted on a previous post, ALL of the great QBs waited their turn; that also means they had upperclassmen mentoring them and showing them the ropes. Who did Harris and Marve have?!? Yep.

Next year we'll know a lot more, but I for one am pretty stoked about the future of our program. And speaking of stoked, how about this year's basketball team?

Go Canes!

JUST CAUSE

green, 86 isn't that bad... he's got passion for hurricane sports and is making a decent business with it, and all U do is help promote Canespace with your ridicule... smoke1 or something and go back to your humorous ways...

Let's make the water a little more murky at QB:

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP)—Pat Devlin plans to transfer from No. 6 Penn State, leaving the Nittany Lions short a backup quarterback headed into the Rose Bowl.

The sophomore informed coach Joe Paterno of his intentions, the team said Wednesday night in a brief statement. It was not clear where Devlin planned to transfer.

Devlin lost a preseason competition for the quarterback job to Daryll Clark, who emerged into a topflight starter running Penn State’s spread HD offense.

Devlin saw limited action, though he had one of the biggest scores of the year for Penn State with a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of the win over Ohio State.

He holds the Pennsylvania career prep passing record with 8,162 yards at Downingtown East.

We recruited him before Marve landed in our laps why not? Im just kidding but you got to look at that and go wow.

You guys are so hard on these kids, they work really hard and some have gotten bad breaks and maybe not even fair chances, Stop breaking their balls so hard and give them a chance. I understand why Marve would want to transfer, and anyone else for that matter it is hard sometimes and they are trying to do what is best for them. They are kids and make bad decisions, some of these guys were recruited by different coach and when your guys are coming in you have favoritism, and i think Nix is very conservative but what can you do when there is really nobody to give the ball to on a daily basis, i think next year it will be a lot better.

I also understand why Marve would want to transfer. The guy has got tons of upside if he gets in the right system. The HC, OC, and the team is in a learning phase at Miami, this hinders Marve development. The situation just hasn't worked for him, so he should look at other options.

Don't get on this kid because he refuses to ride the bench on a mediocre team. What has the team done for him??? Does anyone recall a receiver bailing out Marve with a great catch??? Does anyone remember a receiver dropping a ball that Marve zipped in the numbers???

MH MH MH, THESE ARE YOUR WORDS IN YOUR CONTEXT.

"U ARE SO WRONG.... MARVE HAS EVEN MORE POTENTIAL THAN COLT MCCOY... THIS WAS MARVE'S FIRST YEAR!!!... MCCOY NUMBERS AS A FRESHMAN WERE NOT GOOD... FOR THE LAST TIME I HOPE; IT TAKES TIME TO DEVELOP TALENT... PATIENCE CANE NATION"

Posted by: Herbal MInded aka HM | December 05, 2008 at 01:24 PM

WHY DONT YOU ELABORATE ON HOW MARVE AND COLT MCCOY HAD SIMILAR FIRST YEARS AS STARTERS. SINCE I TOOK YOUR STATEMENT OUT OF CONTEXT.

MCCOY 2500 YARDS 29TDS 7 INTS. 10-3 RECORD.
MARVE 1293 YARDS 9TDS 13 INTS. 6-5 RECORD.

BEFORE THE SEASON I WAS HIGH ON MARVE, I WAITED UNTIL AFTER THE SEASON TO POST ANYTHING ABOUT THE MATTER. I LET IT PLAY OUT BEFORE SPEAKING. SO MY BIAS COMES FROM WATCHING MARVE DERAIL OUR OFFENSE ALL YEAR AND IF JACORY HADNT HAVE CAME IN TO SAVE THE DAY WE WOULD OF LOST TO DUKE AND TO UVA. WE COULD BE 5-7.

MH AS FOR YOUR INSIGHT INTO FOOTBALL AND MARVES POTENTIAL AS GREAT QB. WHAT ABOUT HIM MAKES YOU A BELIEVER. THE FACT THAT RYAN COLLINS PUT UP BETTER NUMBERS AS A FIRST YEAR STARTER.

SIMPLY PUT MARVE IS NOT READY AND IT MIGHT TAKE 4 OR 5 YEARS FOR HIM TO BE READY.

MH I LAUGH AT YOUR STUPIDITY.

WHAT KIND OF PROGRAM SAVING QB GETS SUSPENDED FOR HIS FIRST GAME..
MARVE DOOMED FROM THE START.

Posted by: canethang aka STAT BOY....

LMAO... MY STUPIDITY... LOL... ITS HM not MH...

AS FOR THE FOOTBALL I'LL KILL U ON THAT LATER, GOT MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO NOW...

LOL... THANKS FOR THE LAUGH...

Posted by: Troy | December 11, 2008 at 10:48 AM

SINCE YOU BROUGHT IT UP TROY
MARVE WAS BENCHED IN THE DUKE GAME AND THE UVA GAME BECAUSE THOSE WEAK DEFENSES ATE HIS LUNCH.
ALSO UCF SHOWED HIM UP.
HE THREW 4 TDS AND 12 INTS IN HIS LAST 8 GAMES. HOW CAN YOU SAY HE HAS (IT). WHEN HE IS SO FAR FROM (IT)

BY THE WAY , I DONT DO FANTASY SPORTS, I HAVE NEVER POSTED ON A MESSAGE BOARD EITHER.
BUT WHEN I READ (HM AND TROY)POST ABOUT MARVE BEING AS GOOD AS MCCOY, I COULD NO LONGER STAND SILENT THESE GUYS WERE JUST SAYING CRAP WITH NO JUSTIFICATION OR REASON TO BACK IT UP.

VA TECH =1 OF 2 FOR 3 YARDS
WAKE FOREST= 4 OF 8 FOR 41 YARDS
FSU = 3 OF 7 FOR 32 YARDS.

HE DIDNT DO WELL , HE DIDNT GET TO PLAY MUCH EITHER.

HM , MH ,
EITHER WAY YOU SPELL IT , YOUR AN IDIOT.
YOU KEEP SAYING YOU WILL CRUSH ME WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE. BUT YOU DONT SAY ANYTHING SMART. JUST MORE IDIOT TALK. YOU MAKE ME LAUGH.

STAT BOY,

2 LETTERS CONSISTS OF SPELLING?

CHECK BACK LATER BOUT THE QB'S... SINCE UR READING COMPREHENSION IS LOW... A SMALL PREFACE... ALL I'VE SAID IS MARVE HAS MORE POTENTIAL!!!!!!

canethang, I always wanted Jacory....unless the MH your talking about is the Herald???

When is 86 going to learn, that posting what someone says, is not spreading a rumor...Just because Manny thought you dissed him, doesn't mean it can't be pasted for the fun of it..

Like another poster, from the Sun Sentinel said...reading 86 is like watching a train wreck....but you can't look away...
DENY...DENY...DENY!!!Constant state of denial..

Exactly...he didn't play much against those teams. It was obvious that Shannon and Nix were always trying to get Jacory in there to play more than just those first two series in the second quarter. There was a reason he did not play much those games. Marve was not even playing well against VT but they stuck with him for a reason. Against Duke, Marve only played in three possessions. They punted on one, he led a 80 yard td drive on another, and then he threw a pick. Once he threw that pick he never played again. While Jacory threw a pick and then he threw the ball right into the hands of a Duke defensive back he had an easy six but he dropped it. In addition, they went no huddle with a bunch of receivers and let Jacory throw the ball. They NEVER tried that with Marve all season. If they would of he could of easily put up 40 against Duke too. I'm done arguing with you cause I'm sure no one else cares. But remember....you can't base everything off of pure numbers. You have to analyze the numbers in order to get a true measure.

i would like to apologize to hm and troy for calling you guys idiots. im sorry. im sure we all want the same thing (canes to dominate the college world). and since you guys are on here talking canes football during a 7-5 season. you guys like myself are true cane fans. its been hard for us the last 4 years. my best friend is a noel, my roommate is a sooner, and my girlfriend is a gator. i need the qb spot locked up for next year as i cant take another 3 losses and have to hear about it all year. did i mention i hate all those teams. i really should surround myself with better friends.

Canethang, Jacory had 4 of hid tds at Duke(horrible team)2 against Virginia(horrible team) 1 against cs(horrible team) and 2 garbage tds against gt when they had already stopped trying. Notice how all of these teams are slow. a real defense would eat jacory up. that is why marve should stay,,, because once harris is exposed to a real defense his stats would not look so good. Also harris looked horrible against nc state. its not all about stats

marve did have 11 chances to show what he could do. instead of progressing he regressed. thats not something thats debatable, its a fact. he got worse as the season went on. in my opinion the the offense looked better with harris in.
the duke game .... ahh the duke game.
what if we went no huddle 5 wide next year .
and just unleashed this squad of young receivers on the ncaa landscape.
i can dream cant i

i like both these qbs, and yes marve did regress, but i blame that on the coaches(patrick nix)

I appreciate the maturity Canethang. I hope we get back to dominance. As for now, it's time to start talking Hurricane basketball. This team could be in for a special season if things fall our way. Go Canes!!

cane thang you can post stats all you want it just shows how much of a dork you really are, stats dont tell everything ya know

nope stats dont tell the whole story, dberd. the win loss record sums it up though(6-5) and the end of the season stats do help explain the final outcome. would you say a stat like (-16 ints for our team) if your point guard had 5 assist to every 10 turnovers for a whole season wouldnt that help explain your teams woes.(i threw that basketball analogy in for troy in honor of our basketball season)

6-5 is unacceptable at the university of miami.
if marve could only make his reads faster and throw the ball with more touch when needed and not turn it over so much then i would support him. for all the talk about what a great runner he is (2.0 yards per carry)he hasnt shown me anything except happy feet. he reminds me of fred flintstone legs are moving he just doesnt go anywhere.

FIRE NIX!!! watching marve get worse as the season went on made me want to puke... he looked so good the first three games.

Did i mention that we should fire Nix?

I think Jacory is a better QB than Marve, but even with the best QB in college football we will be in the same situation. Our play calling is poor, and execution is even worst. Our receivers can't get open, they can't even block. We don't use our TE. Our O-line is not good.
If we can't execute basic plays, how can Nix expect to open the playbook. MY GOD! That would be STUPID.
In the end...it's all about coaching.

Look at the DOLPHINS!

First of all, I seriously wish 86 and green would just take this "stuff" outside. I'm sooo tired of having to scroll through half the comments to get past the highschool girls locker room clique BS. I'm sure whatever you two are fighting about is legit and one is right and the other is wrong and it's all very important, but most of us don't give a damn and don't want to hear it. Go act like gayturds over on a gayturd blog.

OK, that said. I need to preface this by saying that I like BOTH of our qb's and really want to see BOTH of them succeed. In addition, I want to see the team succeed. But, I am getting really tired of all the haters out there. The stats certainly suggest that Jacorry played better this year. To be honest, I just didn't see that in watching the games though. Jacorry gets a ton of credit, as he should, for helping win that UVA game. But do his supporters dare consider that pass he threw up for grabs at the beginning of OT that was right in the hands of the cornerback? That cb catches that ball and the game is over! I had to close my eyes watching that play. And the TD to Byrd? A helluva catch, but a total prayer shot on Jacorry's part. Look, I'm not trying to knock the kid and maybe he just has that "it" that always causes the toss up to go his way. I'm proud of what he accomplished and would be pleased to root for him as our starter, but that shouldn't come at the expense of all of us trashing Marve. At least not yet. We don't know what's going on with his parents and Randy behind closed doors. If it's true that he's putting ultimatums on Randy for pt or whatever else, then he'll be gone and we should wish him well. But in the meantime, he seems to be enjoying being a 'Cane and is pouring his heart out on the field for the U and for his team mates, and in my opinion playing farely well.

We should support both of these guys. Tear down the coaches all you want. Tear down the players when they show a lack of effort, or heart or appreciation for the history and meaning of what it is to be a 'Cane. But chill with tearing down these kids because they may not have performed as well as you hoped they would in just their first year.

OK, that said: Randy, we believe in you, but your job is riding on this recruiting class and 10 wins and a spot in the ACC title game next year. Let's make it happen.

Go Canes!

amen
