Days of Our Bryce update

For those of you starving for updates in the University of Miami's quest to sign the nation's No. 1 recruit (or as I like to call it the latest chapter of Days Of Our Bryce), there has been no better interview with Brown in the past two months than the one Rivals.com writer Jeremy Crabtree conducted Tuesday.

Although you can get all the info mentor Brian Butler would like for you to know over at potentialplayers.com, nothing beats hearing the man, the myth, the 18-year old legend discuss his recruiting situation himself.

If you want the Cliff Notes version: Brown doesn't sound like he's coming to Miami anymore... his meeting with UM offensive coordinator Mark Whipple didn't go so well... he swears he really isn't doing this for attention.

For the complete interview, here is what Bryce told Rivals.com.

UMASS2CANE,

SOUP's an A55. We all know and agree on that. As a Canes fan from UMASS, your welcome.

Everyone has checked out Whips background (including SOUP and his Gray-turd friends)and it's by far one of the best to come to the U as an OC. We are lucky to have here.

They are very upset by the prospect of our great recruiting classes being matched up with Whip's offensive genius. The have read the below account and the know the end for them is near.

At every stop, the trademark of a Whipple-coached team is high-powered offensive play, and his UMass squads have rewritten the Minuteman recordbook, setting 38 team records over the last five years. In 1998, UMass set new school single season marks for points scored (524), touchdowns (73), total yards (7,074), highest average yards per play (5.9), passing yards (4,050), completions (306) and first downs (354). The 1999 team finished with totals of 415 points, 55 touchdowns, 5,673 total yards, 5.6 yards per play, 3,230 passing yards, 271 completions and 289 first downs, all of which rank as the second-highest single season totals in school history, behind the marks set a year earlier. In addition, 14 different UMass players have earned All-America honors during Whipple’s five years as head coach.

Don't we wish that Bryce was a class act like his brother

Don't we wish that Bryce was a class act like his brother

I agree with RS. Bryce is a good RB, but he is young and we as adults should understand that. Let him make the decision. It is something that he has to live with the rest of his life. One player doesn't make the team. Just because he is ranked number one doesn't mean he will be the best runner. RS has shown me that he cares and has patients towards his players.

There is no BRYCE in TEAM ............

Bryce,
Make sure you get to Circuit City to buy a Plasma TV that will last you the next few years ...... You will need it each January to WATCH THE CANES PLAY IN THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP.

I am embarrassed by those fans who bring Arthur into this. All signs point to him being a great representative of the U.

Yes, we all thought that Arthur being here would make Bryce a sure thing, but that was OUR mistake. Don't get upset at Arthur because YOU believed that everything was as simple as "following big brother".

Personally, I think this whole process took as long as it did because Bryce was looking for a way out of a tough situation. He saw the number of running backs coming to Miami and that isn't a situation he wanted to be in. He believed in his promise deep down and he wanted to respect that first choice. But, his best interests probably lie elsewhere.

In two years he can leave school and make millions. Why not go to the school that promises to showcase your talent early and often?

Why risk a small injury that forces you to work your way back to starting status? I think Bryce's decision makes perfect sense. I think this whole process is the result of a young man having to turn his back on a promise that no longer makes sense.

Accept this decision in good graces. Pat Arthur on the back. And say a special thanks to the RBs that did choose Miami. We lost this one for the right reasons. See Ya Bruce, we hardly knew Ya.

Gents, the good thing is that we are loaded. yes its fresh/soph talent, but UF won with what , a ton of soph/jr starters, and it was 1-2 playmakers with tebow and harvin or either or that made the difference. We have more defensive talent than they do, and have a ton of playmakers now with experience. We just need that RB that can do it all. so, maybe bb is playing this little game, and in the end, signs with us. I agree, I am sick of it. Pryor played bball, so he couldnt take his visits and had to delaY IT. bb has been done with the season since nov, and graduated in december,. OBVIOUSLY ITS THE MENTOR U all see what he is doing>? he knows in 3 yrs or 4 yrs, the NFL draft is a calling for ab and bb. and of course, with his resume of being a qualified agent, U know who bb and (hope not) -ab- is going to select. this dude is playing bb for the hope he gets his payday in 3 yrs fron now. I hope the browns will wise up.
We lost 5 yames in the 4th qtr, we are alot closer than people realize. U baby!!!!!!!!

I also havent posted for 2 weeks, but have been readiny some stuff about our class that some of u wrote. Guys, espn, who has the best grading system. (by needs and by the players talent), had us #7 w/0 brown. We have 6 or 7 of their top 150, uf had 8 and the #1 team this year LSU had 10. (we had 12-13 of espn 150 last yr). so, within 2-3 players, we have a ton of talent coming in. Let this bb stuff playout, maybe in the end, the parents or arthur or someone steps up and guises him our way, this is just foolih--I mean, he is trying to be like pryor but pryor was in school and playing bball., so the kid had a legitimate reason for delaying it with 3 games per week in season. Also, WHAT THE HECK HAS HE BEEN DOING SINCE HIS SEASON IS OVER????forget the past 12 mo's since he committed, but what about the last 3??? isnt that enought f__king time?? some adult figure needs to step up and clear the BS, come on now, 3 mo's since his season is over and 2 mo's since he graduated. The coach bashed him, saying they only won 6 games with the #1 player in the country, --he said it as a dig to bb-------so, I think its all stupod bs on the mentor--

YOU GIUS DO KNOW THE MENTOR DID THIS FOR ARTHUR LAST YR, but Arthur wasnt #1 overall, and enrolled in jan. Come on bryce, cut the BS, the U family is what U said on your taped call. so what the heck is goin on??

SOUP

Who are you going to beat off to when the inevitable truth about saint Tebow is revealed. You know what I'm talking about. What all you gayturds have in the back of your mind but don't dare speak out loud...but yet you know it's true. Now, relax and go have a nice glass of juice.

Also, to the Oline bashers. do U realize the talent we brought in this yr?
Brandon washington was Rivals #2 player regardless of position, and Jermain Johnson was the #1 overall Olineman in 2008----so, to the bashers that said we arent bringing in stud olineman, just those 2 were the top 2 onlineman)massie was the 3rd, out of prep school, the past 2 yrs. When U throw in 4 star Ben Jones(redshirted), ESPN 150 player out of Nrbraska who will be a soph now Harland Gunn, and the other signees like Bunche from this year, our Oline talent is much better at the Fr/so level than our SR/jr returnling limeman---
2md. With Tommy Streeter coming back this yr and Kendall Tompkins, also both redshirted, thats 2 more stud WR's that JH has continuity with(he played with both in HS), so, they have timing/yrs together.. I hope we eventually have Spence, Brown, Futch or Buchanon at LB, those 3 toghether will fly around the field. Then, with the 2 Brandons at CB, Ray Ray and Holton/Telamque at Safety/ Not counting the Dline, we have all 1st to 2nd rounders starting. We are that loaded guys. I mean really loaded. Lovett is inheriting the most defensive talnet at the fr/so level than any program in the country------We will win with bryce or w/o bryce------We are loaded my friends-------I just hope we can put it together next yr

Just get Jakari Gore next year. We really don't need Bryce Brown. Best of luck to Bryce but i'm not going to lose any sleep over him. Go Canes!!

I am tired of his drama. Let him go, we have great RB's and Coop is only a Junior now. We got Mike James and Lamar Miller both studs that will help our offense. Lets not disrespect them and give them the chance they deserve!

sheesh, seriously? we're still recruiting this guy???? dude, honestly i lost track of this kid after national signing day, as soon as those 19 players inked with us, i thought that was already final, i'm already pass the bryce saga after that, content with the guys we pulled in already!!!! besides mike james seems like a stud at rb position, definitely a big time sleeper of this 09 class!!!! he will surprise for sure, he's coming out of hs and he is almost as big as javaris james!

BB the only guy that got more negative press the George Bush. That is his legacy.

fascinating news on Rivals:

A hs football team in Cali is being criticized heavily for a "very gimmicky" super spread offense called the A-11 wherein 11 players can be eligible receivers!!!!!!! Some call it unfair, some call it cheating blah blah blah.

There you go Gator fans- what I have said all along: The gaturd offense IS, was and will always be Gimmicky. GIMMICKY GIMMICKY

HERE THAT 'WE'S BUILDING DEPTHS?" GIMMICKY!

SPREAD OFFS ARE GIMMICKY THAT IS WHY FLORIDA HAS VERY FEW PLAYERS IN THE NFL DESPITE HAVING WON 2 NCS IN THE LAST 5 YEARS!!!!!!!!!! AND WHY UM STILL HAS MORE PLAYAZ IN THE PRO BOWL!!! THAT IS WHY FLORIDA, OREGON, GA TECH, USF, NAVY, ETC ETC. ARE HARD TO STOP, OK I'LL GIVE YOU THAT. YEAH, OK, SO YOU ALL ARE HARD TO STOP. HEY, TRICK PLAYS CAN BEAT ALMOST ANYONE ANYTIME! BUT YOU GATURDS DONT HAVE REAL FOOTBALLERS. A BUNCCH OF GIMMICKY LIZARDS FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, NAMED AFTER A TUBE THAT GOES INTO YOUR BLADDER (FOLEY) TO THE COACH NURBAN CRYER, TO A FUNNY LOOKING, BIBLE TOTING, BABY CIRCUMCIZING T-BONE!!!!!

G-I-M-M-I-C-K-Y

Has this been BB's way of punishing Randy for not starting Arthur?

it wasn't long ago when recruits used to be so excited coming in to the U, certainly isn't the case anymore with all the hype and attention recruiting gets now!!! check this site out . .

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/acc/2006-08-06-miami_x.htm

95% of kids sign on the first day of NSD signs for 2 reason, reason 1 because they're just really excited to finally get into the school they've dreaming about since they were a child, and reason 2 because they wanna make sure they don't lose their spot/scholly from the school!

Randy is playing this right , BB is a great talent.. how well he will do at the next level?Chances are he will be good , very good .. if he wants to be great - he will have to play on a top stage and join a great cast - of present and past stars but he will have to prove himself. Is he up to the challenge ? If he wants to come and compete , Great !! and I hope he does .. if he goes elsewhere good luck to him ..only a TEAM can win the national championship.. It's all about the U !

sounds like willie williams jr. to me...it would have been great to lock this guy in on nsd, but its becoming a soap opera. i think the BS that this has caused will fuel lamar miller to be better when he plays here....1 player will not make or break this team at this point. we have so much raw talent its gonna get ugly!! miami could do just fine without the negativity at this point..
fyi ...coach whipple's son will be playing for st. thomas aquinas football next year....which creates another pipeline for miami! ...sorry urby and bobby
2010 has nasty talent coming out of s. florida...could be the big break for miami...

Soup:

South Florida has the largest concentration of NFL prospects in the country. BTW some of them even go to UF. Are you really trying to debate this?

Kansas HS football is pretty terrible, but the sun shines on a dog's @ss every once in a while.
Look you guys even won a NC.

does ne one have the article of bryces coach speaking about bryce?????????????????

let get Orson Charles at the UM the kid hasnt sign anywhere yet becuase he only perfer UM than any other school trust me if robert wasnt crying about leaveing he would been a cane

The U will Survive just fine

The Gray-turds are back. SOUP and his/her gang.

Always a good sign for the U. When they're complaining - we're winning.

Good news.

stupid or just really dumb ?

good news , U just don't know any better

shannon's putting up that fence around dade and broward 2009 we might win 9 games 2010 domination

Reality will hit this kid so hard when and if he still comes to the U. Shannon will definitley let him know he's equal and not above any othe rplayer, think he was tough on his son not to show him any favortism and equalize him?

He's thinking Nike contract already, or he wants a team stacked with talent so he can't fail. If he goes to USC he won't have to be that good to look good, if he goes to Oregon and does well, he'll have a guaranteed Nike contract. He knows it's going to be hard work and competition at the U, not glamour. He's not thinking football, he's thinking everything else, but can you blame him? It's his life, his choice.

All of you wussies will be the first ones cheering and jumping up and down if Bryce signs with the Canes. This is just your way of setting yourselves up for the news when Bryce picks Oregon over UM. It's all good cause we have enough running backs for the next 6 years with the next 2 classes coming in. Let's beef up the O-line and the D-line, get some speed and playmakers all over the field and the U will start winning real soon.

Lay off Arthur - he is going to be solid.

BB is an 18 yr. old kid who is a prima donna in Kansas; a big frog in a little pond. Look at the scouting reports in the state and He is one of 2 rated players. He appears to get cold feet facing the competition in Miami at running back. Oviously, he doesn't plan on playing pro football. He needs to understand its the competition in practice day after day is what makes and breaks a player. Its easy to pretend and hog the spot lite. Some of what the kid says is illrational comparing the U to Oregon. We need mature leaders on our football team. Not a 18 yr. old cry baby. Good luck whereverver you choose.

HEY LETS SHOW A LITTLE CLASS HURFANS, ART IS NOT HIS BROTHERS KEEPER.

HURIFANS LETS BE NICE, ARTHUR IS NOT HIS BROTHERS KEEPER. LETS BE THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE THE BEST OF THE BROWN BROTHERS.
