Sometimes keeping a secret can be really tough. Miami Booker T. Washington running back Eduardo Clements was able to pull it off for nearly three months, but he finally broke down on Tuesday and called Hurricanes coaches to let them know he was formally announcing his commitment to the Hurricanes.
"I called coach Ice [Tim Harris] and told him I was tired of people asking me where I’m going, I’m ready to make it public," said Clements, considered one of the nation's premier running backs by both Rivals and ESPN.com. "He said do what you got to do boss. We're just glad to have you in the family."
Clements, who committed silenty to UM coaches back in August, wanted to make his big announcement on National Signing Day or when his football team, currently 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state's Class 3A, reached the state title game in December. But he said he couldn't wait any longer and wanted "to get it over with."
The Hurricanes have 23 commitments in their 2010 class. Sunday, they added two more when Belle Glades Glades Central defensive back Greg Dent and Loganville, Ga. running back Storm Johnson (rated the 23rd best RB in the country by Rivals) joined the class. In all, UM has four running backs it is bringing in. Clements (5-10, 185) is the highest rated.
After rushing for 408 yards in Booker T.'s first four games, Clements sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee playing defensive end in an upset win over Miami Northwestern. He said he expects to return to action this week against Miami Edison.
He said the announcement of his commitment had nothing to do with Johnson (6-1, 217) joining UM's class on Sunday.
"I've been committed since August -- and everybody over there knew about it," Clements said. "Really, I was just tired of people calling me and asking me about it. I wanted Signing Day to be special. But I prefer this. I can sleep at night and not worry about my phone ringing or people asking me anymore."
> I'll have more from Tuesday's press conferences and interviews with players later. I just wanted to get the Clements story done for you all. I'll have more interviews with UM's recruits in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

i will not read ya'll post comment anymore fire rs is stupid just look at all the injury and bang up players we have any team loose 8 or 9 players in D 1 or 2 string will have problem

Yeah, this wasn't intentional....right!
But I'm sure spikes will be taught a lesson with that torturous punishment he received from Urban Liar. But then again, what does the SEC know about intergrity?

Ealey said he had his eyes closed when Spikes stuck his hand in his helmet and he wasn't hurt.
"He really didn't gouge my eyes," Ealey said. "He really didn't get a chance to get close to my eyes."

Get Ur facts straight... But then again, facts aren't Ur strong suit.

Yeah, that shows him just trying to make a tackle. I could see how that could be misinterpreted.
Heck, using gayturd troll logic, maybe he wasn't even trying to tackle! Maybe he was just near the play and tripped and fell into the RB, accidentally jamming his hand into his face mask?......what a goob!

Ill be honest and say i wasn't a fan of berry. But lately he has looked like our best RB. Berry is a junior and cant transfer and play. Cooper is way overrated, he'll get drafted in the 4th round. He's to small and weak if you touch him he gets tackled. I have seen videos of clements and he is wasn't impressive at all.

Spikes just wanted a Black Georgia Helmet as a Souvenir . But he couldn't get the damn thing off. Kid was buckled up to tightly.
Never came near his eyes. The kid said so.

Berry's been at the U for like 17 years man. I think he was roomie's with Cleveland Gary!
Coop is a great back, he's either poorly coached or allowed to make the same repeated mistakes (which by definition IS poor coaching)! Jacory and the last several UM QB's have had trouble executing screens and that has hurt the RB's!
That Spikes crap is TOTAL Bullarky!!! The defense of the Gayturds is the guy said he didn't get poked in the eyes cause he moved his head. That's like saying an assailant didn't shoot someone cause the person DUCKED! It's called attempted murder and you'll still get LIFE!
ALSO, I'd like to apologize to all homosexuals who I offended by calling Gayturd fans Gay! That's a denigration to the word Gay and please indulge me providing a more fitting monicker!

I'm glad to see us go after RB's. If there is one thing that this offense has missed, it's been a RB that can take it to the house every time he touches the ball. We had it with McGahee, we had it with Portis, we would have had it with Gore before the injuries. We need it with one of these young kids. BTW, I like Mike James a lot. I think he's tough and versatile, and has very deceptive speed.
Posted by: U | November 03, 2009 at 09:05 PM
The last thing we need is good running backs, I mean we have Lamar Miller, Mike James, Damien Berry for next year. Somebodies got to sit.

lee chambers may be transferred after this huge pick-up....
there is that christian wr from cali and/or jack nicklus grandson te that the canes want for next year
lock and load...can't wait for the new batch of PIMPS...while the turds are going to suffer with a young inexperienced brantley and dubose

Hey Ding-a-ling!!! The point IS that Spikes is such a FREAKING IDIOT that he got caught doing what everyone else does! The IDIOT's not smart enough to do it at the BOTTOM of the pile! He needs to be on the World's Dumbest Player on the World's Dumbest Football Team show on Tru TV!
Look, Jackrabbit, I can help it Ealy (or whatever his name is cause I could really care less) is suffering from Battered Spouse Syndrome cause UF made UGA its beeyotch!
How do you defend someone who gets CAUGHT cheating?! You're not even saying he didn't rob the bank, but you're saying that he should be given a bly cause he wasn't very SMART about it!
That's like saying someone shouldn't go to jail for robbing a bank cause he was stupid and didn't steal that much money and got caught too easily! Only a Gayturd will even argue the point!!!
For the prosecution... CROSS baby!!!

Inside word guys Craig Cooper will enter draft sources told me he will take his chances because he tired of splittin time here at the U and also lee chambers is considerin transferring and possibly one more runnin back is leavin this year! Clements is a good pick up considerin we could lose 3 backs! But the man next year without a doubt is Damien Berry the rest can just battle for the back up role! Berry is tha man!

Recruits Miami Hopefully gets:
OL: Linder (Between the U and Notre Dame), Barton or Arie Kouandjio ** Plus there is talk Torrian Wilson could still end up at UM after committing to Stanford
DE. Lemonier (Looks good for Miami) or Ferguson (long shot but would be a huge pick up)
WR: *** Dunkley (big time play maker which we need desperately seems to be a Florida or UT lean though) or Willis Wright (stud & High on UM) and or Michalee Harris (should commit to UM) Last resort would be Allen Hurns I think since it looks like McCartney will end up at West Virginia.
LB: Christian Jones (Is liking the U)
S: Latwan Anderson ??? Maybe Elam or Ogletree if staff can sway them...
CB: Shaw (would be a huge pick up and is excited to visit UM) or Payne (from STA, come on you & Linder package deal & bring Barton too)
Hopefully we can hang on to Nix. He is going back to Notre Dame for third visit but maybe the U gets WR Tapley his teammate to de commit from South Carolina and come to the U with already committed Tavadis Glenn to sure Nix up... I bet with all the news at least one RB maybe hall de commits and possibly Dent from Glades Central being that he finally got the FSU offer he was hoping for. If Nix does jump ship maybe Calvin Smith Shariff Floyd or Mike Thorton the teammate of current commit (Tyrone Cornelius) could fill that void. Good luck hopefully this class finishes just as strong as t has the last two years. GO CANES!!!!!

i am so excited for the future of this program! we got two more beasting RB's and now tony jefferson(UCLA commit) is visiting The U and so is josh shaw! time for shannon to work his magic!
^^^these 2 would be HUGE pickups!!! the #4 ranked corner and the #9 ranked player overall.
if he pulls those kids in i expect things to go down like this:
nix decommiting(not sure about tapley or glenn), chambers transferring, coop entering the draft, dent decommiting now that he has an FSU offer, linder commiting, torrian wilson decommiting and going to The U(arie kouandjio if torrian sticks to his guns/barton if arie goes elsewhere), keion payne commiting, michaelee harris commiting, willis wright commiting, christian jones or josh shirley commiting, and maybe another DL(ferguson, lemonier, or thornton).
im not sure whats going to happen with darion hall. if some one has an insidetheu.com subscription: there was a reaction from him about all these RB commits. PLEASE POST! thanks.
if we got all these kids we would be a complete team and a national championship contender for years to come.
Posted by: ooster | November 04, 2009 at 03:47 AM
ooster I definately agree with you if we were to land those two it would be huge for the U especially shaw he is a great player! Guys if it is true about the other back that hasn't been named will be leaving who do yall think that might be???

Eduardo Clements... Welcome to the UUUUU.
Damn, That's sweet music to my ears... remember watching this kid 2 years ago, when he was a sophomore and scored 3 TD's in a play off game with Brandon Harris, Collier, and Devon Johnson... From that day on, I was sold on the kid...
and telling everyone I knew about you... yeah, It's me, Cat5... and will the next millionaire please sign up!
Man this is great news for the team, but if your smart, you should take it slow and red shirt in 10 to clear the path for 11,12, 13 and 14 with options.
It's all good...kid, your path is right around the corner!
