Two independent sources have confirmed to fellow Miami Herald reporter Susan Miller Degnan and myself tonight that quarterback Jacory Harris is wearing a soft cast on his right forearm.
Harris told reporters after Saturday's 33-24 loss to North Carolina he hurt his finger following a big hit in the first quarter. Harris threw a career-high four interceptions in the loss. According to one source, Harris is still expected to play in Saturday's home finale against Duke and the injury is not considered "serious."
> Jacory said after UM's come-from-behind win at Wake Forest last month that he still felt pain in his throwing arm from the hit he took from Florida State's Greg Reid in the season-opener. Harris said whenever somebody touches his elbow he feels "sharp pain." Harris was hit at least twice on four of his interceptions Saturday and said he didn't put "enough zip" on several of his passes. He ranks second nationally among FBS quarterbacks this season with 16 interceptions.
I'm sure we'll hear much more about this Tuesday from coach Randy Shannon. Jacory usually speaks to the media after Shannon talks with reporters at 11:30 a.m. We'll keep you posted.

Not good. If they think it's affecting his play (which hasn't been that stellar as of late) or if continuing to play might cause him more damage, he might ought to sit for a while and hand over the reins to AJ Highsmith. I still think the offense has been getting a little greedy lately. Let that big OL do it's job and let Damien Berry pound ahead.

Too funny I can not even find the words to describe. LOL all you FLA & FSU fans on the U of M site. Please go away and get a life. Or just stay on your own blog. All you do is show your ignorance. Fla fans watch your back your not there yet.....FSU is it time to put the old man out to pasture....you can if you want but I'd not want to be the one to tell him. If FSU gets rid of him early he will come back to haunt you like we as Miami fans just felt the sting of NC. Becareful with what you want you just might get it but you may not always like the end result....Thanks

Tebow gets a cuncussion and Ponder blows his shoulder. Nothing. Now Jacory is in a SOFT cast and the world is over?
Relax he'll play and be fine. I saw him icing his hand at UNC and continued playing. He can't be worse that 4/2 come Saturday.

They can envisionliving in South Florida rather in that god for saken hick town

My question is this, if JH hurt his hand in the 1st quarter, why was Whipple sending in long pass plays into what we all saw would be multiple coverage scenarios. And kept sending in these plays for the remainder of the game. Where was Shannon on all of this. I just don't get these two.
Posted by: Cane75 | November 17, 2009 at 09:59 AM
The coaching staff is really pathetic right now.
If they knew that Jascary was hurt I would not let him attempt to make those long throws and instead would have kept everything withing 1015 yrds. That way you protect your QB and maybe the offense would have found a rythm.
Also has anyone else noticed that when go with the hurry up offense the kids seem to respond better and play harder.
Maybe they should try to adopt the hurry up all the time. I understand that the team might get a little tired but hey if it helps then what the heck.

I have never seen so many losers writing such poo poo with no facts. They sound like a bunch of little girls that have nothing better to do than call "U" blogers names. Enjoy your time on the blogs little ladies cause ur time is running out. Now back to the real topic. Now that the season is kind of set in stone where the "U" will play their bowl game, would it be out of the question to play Highsmith at QB more. The truth is that the "U" should win this game even with a back-up QB in there. With J. Harris hurting maybe this would not be such a bad idea. Play J. Harris a half then play Highsmith the rest of the game. Just pound, pound, pound the ball down Dukes throat. It worked for G-Tech. GOOOO! CANES!
Posted by: jra | November 17, 2009 at 02:26 PM
We've done gave 2 games away and will manage to keep Duke around for awhile with a couple more int's and maybe will set the all time record for number of completions to different receivers in a game, since jacory can't find a go to receiver he likes. I can see why the guys we have playing offense play offense because they sure can't tackle nobody.

Charleston Southern, Troy, Florida International
The Gators lay these teams then Georgia which is not the same team and FSU at home which again far from FSU of old. FSU FANS this is not a negative statement about FSU. Miami respects FSU but as does the Seminoles we hate The Gators.
Gators will now be without Tebow and this will make Florida easier to game plan for. You will not have a Q.B. who can run like Tebow. This comes once in a lifetime. When is the last time Florida had a Q.B. who could run like that and score touchdowns?
FSU and Miami will both improve and the Gators will now go through change next year without Tebow. Florida had it's run but you will not be the same team next year. The Canes have 53 freshmen and sophomores on their team with new coaches on both sides of the ball and a Q.B. who really has only started this year. He is learning a new system on top of being inexperienced. He will have another off season to learn and to put on size and gain strength.
Next year Miami picks up Ohio State and Pitt which once again shows we play out of conference teams that are not padded. Miami picks up Nebraska the year after as well. This team will get recruits who want to play against big time programs and play on T.V. They also know that Miami puts its players in the NFL. We will be fine and we will see you next in Miami. Lets talk then.

is it me or did we not even try to recruit these guys:
jonathan dowling
demar dorsey
matt elam
joshua shaw
jaylen watkins
jordan hayden
gerald christian
considering we need major secondary and TE help i dont understand why we settle and take,
keion payne
raheam buxton
jeremy davis
kacy rodgers
devonta davis
greg dent jr
clive walford
originally i thought we'd pull it out and finish strong and get guys like shaw, jefferson, jones, linder, dunkley, wright, kouandjio, etc.
NO. instead, after linder and barton("allegedly") we're getting 1 other reciever and thats that. and linder's probably waiting to see how the notre dame situation plays out first. wtf...
we havent had a strong recruiting class since '08 and in that class we kinda got lucky with the MNW team. i gotta wonder if shannon's as good a recruiter as previously thought. supposedly '11 is the class we're really going after. we'll see then i guess.
Posted by: ooster | November 17, 2009 at 05:54 PM
ooster,
Big names don't always bring big dividends.
What has Forston, Brown, done so far? Nada! This will be Shannon's third recruiting class and it's not as bad as it seems. Yes we do need TE's and D.B.'s but our biggest needs are on both lines. We need to get bigger and stronger, especially on the d-line. We have nobody that can cave the pocket in in the middle. These guys are to short. We need some 6'5 290 lb guys that it's hard for the QB to see over. We don't have that. We need to go after bigger name offensive linemen on offense instead of these tweeners. That has always been our problem on offense, or at least the last 5 years. I don't care who plays D.B., if you can't rush the passer the Db's are going to get toasted. Finally we need a stable coaching staff who has been together for at least 5 years instead of this revolving door with the Dee and O- coordinators.
