UM QB Jacory Harris has cast on throwing arm

Two independent sources have confirmed to fellow Miami Herald reporter Susan Miller Degnan and myself tonight that quarterback Jacory Harris is wearing a soft cast on his right forearm.

Jacory Harris
Harris told reporters after Saturday's 33-24 loss to North Carolina he hurt his finger following a big hit in the first quarter. Harris threw a career-high four interceptions in the loss. According to one source, Harris is still expected to play in Saturday's home finale against Duke and the injury is not considered "serious."

> Jacory said after UM's come-from-behind win at Wake Forest last month that he still felt pain in his throwing arm from the hit he took from Florida State's Greg Reid in the season-opener. Harris said whenever somebody touches his elbow he feels "sharp pain." Harris was hit at least twice on four of his interceptions Saturday and said he didn't put "enough zip" on several of his passes. He ranks second nationally among FBS quarterbacks this season with 16 interceptions.

I'm sure we'll hear much more about this Tuesday from coach Randy Shannon. Jacory usually speaks to the media after Shannon talks with reporters at 11:30 a.m. We'll keep you posted.

mark,

i see what youre saying but forston was a true freshman last year and this year he's out for the year. and no one could have predicted that arthur brown would be too inept to remember the defensive plays. generally the top recruits do pan out. usually it just depends on who's doing the coaching and whether they fit the system.

to your point on getting bigger on the defensive front, even then we're not doing that. chandler is only 6'0 and nix(who might decommit) is 6'2. ive never heard of a tweener on OL.

i think our DL is fine but lovett doesnt bring pressure and just rushes four. thats why we dont get pressure. plus ojomo and forston(our 2 best DL besides bailey) are out for the year. our best front 4 are robinson, bailey, forston, and ojomo(two of which are injured).

we have 0 TE's next year and our DB's(besides harris) are AWFUL. we need to recruit those positions bad, and fast. we have some pretty good young bucks on the OL in jones, gunn, and washington next year who could step in and do well i think.

as far as coaches i agree with you there. i think we need an upgrade on defense, but i like whipple. guys just gotta execute the plays and not throw the ball up for grabs.

sorry for that double post.

Ooster,
I believe Glover will be a med. redshirt next year TE. . Also the same for Ryan Hill at Db who i don't think played in one game. Like i said before your Db's are only as good as your pass rush, which we have none. We get no pressure up front and if we do get pressure it comes from the edge. We have the talent & it is young, but need some depth on the o-line, which next year may be worse than this year and it could be the only thing holding us back from contending next year. We also need to learn how to play on the road, which it seems we fall to pieces when we do. We have the speed at the skilled positions but we have to quit playing down to our opponents talent level and we need to create turnovers. When's the last time we had more than 5 interceptions in a season? we must be last in the nation in turnover margin. We must be more aggressive on Dee and the t.o.'s will come.

who's glover? you mean gordon right? he's been a project and he's just a blocking TE. plus if the QB gets rid of the ball in under 3 seconds thats not the DL's fault. we dont have any good corners except for harris. ryan hill will be a senior next year and he hasnt done anything throughout his whole career anyway so his impact will probably be minimal at best.

Gators recruit Nationally while the Canes recruit Northwestern.

What is there to do in Gainesville? WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

What is there to do in Miami? You will need to find lots to do to leave the disappointment of 4-6 loss seasons. There is so much to do in Miami. You could go to South Beach. Wow, how exciting and how 1980s. You could go to a Marlins game and hang out with 325 other South Floridians (and that is including the players). You could go to the beach. Ohh that's about it.

You could put on a soft cast. How weak is that? Soft cast for a soft player.

You guys think this will hurt Jacorys draft status?

Will he go from a free agent to the CFL?

Get well J12, good to see some internal fortitude!

Manny thanks for the insight on the Canes.

Looks like the blog/moron monitor is off duty the past few days and the small bus broke down in front of the internet cafe.

Go Canes!!!

Rawpimple,
Last time I looked we got 5 Nat'l Championships. Plus got robbed out of one and gave one away to Penn st.& got crapped out of playing Oklahoma in 2000, How many chances You hillbillies had?

is 9 championships more than 5. yes. we have 5 national championships in footabll alone. when you want to talk about championships i really dont think you would start in gville. ur players are great in an offense that will take them no further getting signed on practice squads. when is the last time a gaytor won a superbowl. spread + tebow + alex smith= the bench or or special teams wedge buster.lol get ur facts straight.

Here we go with the delusional canes fans back to the 80s without a conference championship and playing home national title games. Those should have an *** next to them.

Win the ACC, then talk. It isnt hard to do since the ACC is so weak but somehow the Canes cant even make it to the ACC title game.
