With spring football in full swing, a forgotten storyline playing out behind the scenes these days in Coral Gables is that the Hurricanes are still in the running to add two of the nation's top 2010 recruits: cornerback Latwan Anderson (5-11, 185) and mammoth offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson.
Anderson, ranked the second best safety in the country according to Rivals.com, visited UM with his father last week and is expected to choose between the Canes and West Virginia Wednesday morning at his school in Ohio around 9 a.m.
Anderson originally committed to West Virginia, but chose not to sign a national letter-of-intent, instead opting to weigh all his options. If he chooses UM, word is he would come in on a track scholarship and then play football in the fall.
Henderson, who chose USC on National Signing Day but didn't, still has the Canes in the running with Ohio State. No word yet when Henderson will sign. But he is waiting to get a clearer picture on how the NCAA will come down on USC for possible NCAA violations.

That USC situation bodes well for us. Unfortunately, I think his #2 is OSU, not UM.
But hey, I'll take Anderson as a consolation prize!

could be very positive addition if they could land both recruits but i like what RS and the Canes have done we'll have to wait and see what unfolds.

Manny. What is the VERY LAST day(date) seantrel has to choose by? Will USC even know anything about their situation by then. Give us the full story please. Buy tic's with your tax return people. It's like they are free . GOT MINE 6 ROWS UP AT THE 30. And the 110% challenge and, the 110% challenge, and the yearly parking pass. THANKS UNCLE SAM! See ya'll there.

Thanks for the update Manny, either would be a nice way to top off this class...and both would be phenomenal!

Manny,
Rivals reports the following: DB postpones press conference, switches commitment to Miami. Any clue on what the story is? If/when he will sign?
Posted by: Caneiac | March 10, 2010 at 08:26 AM
If we land these 2 - or even 1 of these guys, it would really help UM. Knowing the recent track record of big time recruits, they seem to keep picking somewhere else to go... Let's see what happens yet again

Posted by: TheMonsta | March 10, 2010 at 08:59 AM
Manny,
Thanks for all that you do for us Canes Fans. I am hoping both end up coming at the U. Anderson would provide depth at the Safety position and Henderson would definitely force other O-Linemen to step their game up.
It would be a big boost to this year's class
Posted by: Canatic | March 10, 2010 at 09:02 AM
Welcome Anderson!!! Anderson switched from WV to the Canes this morning. This guy is a freaking awesome safety. If you see highlights of this guy, he plays exactly like Ed Reed. Same style. Super fast. Can run from one end of the field to the next is lazer speed time. Most importantly, like Reed, he is smart and knows exactly where the ball will be. Go Shannon!! Offense is sexy, sells tickets and wins games, BUT DEFENSE wins CHAMPIONSHIPS!! See y'all March 27.

With the addition of the two - highly regarded recruits will be a plus. Will create depth as well as competition. Would be huge additions !Will the U - finish in the top 10 in recruiting? Don't sleep RS and his team do a great professional job recruiting student-athlete. GO CANES

We got Anderson and that's HUGE! Yeah, Shannon can't recruit a lick. Our class was ranked low-teens before this guy. Now what!
Welcome to the U Latwan. We need depth back there and this guy is a playmaker.

We got Anderson according to ESPN so things are looking up I really want Henderson though and I think he's doing what's best for him and playin it smart waiting to see what the NCAA does with USC. I f he doesn't like what he see's and chooses the U i would be very, very pleased and wouldn't have one bit or care that he didn't choosed us originally.

Report from CaneSport is that Latwan Anderson has postponed his press conference until next week because his coach is recovering from surgery.

Looks like Anderson has chosen DA U. Nice late push. If USC throws down the hammer on USC then I think we will lock down Henderson too.
You gotta figure the #15 player in the country raises our overall ranking a bit.
Posted by: Justin | March 10, 2010 at 10:22 AM
should have said: NCAA throws down the hammer on USC.
Posted by: Justin | March 10, 2010 at 10:23 AM
Huge pick up, getting Anderson. We need help and depth at corner. Now, lets see if this guy turns into a stud or another 5 star bust
Posted by: Dajediknight | March 10, 2010 at 10:29 AM
We got Anderson. Now it's time for the u to do everything we can for Henderson if Shannon still wants him. Which I'm sure he does

Posted by: ColoradoCane | March 10, 2010 at 10:32 AM
Go Canes, let get both of them.
Posted by: Robb | March 10, 2010 at 10:38 AM
This is great news. But we need to take care of business with he guys we have right now and get the o-line healthy and ready to go. B. Washington having his leg in a cast without being able to bend it is not good news. One of the things that we learned from last year as fans is that you can never have to many bodies at any given position. The "U" was loaded at d-line but with all the injuries our d-line still suffered. Having alot of bodies is good but not if those bodies don't produce. Win ACC. Go to BCS game and win or bust in 2010. GOOO!CANES!
