If you go to the ACC website, and go to the bottom you can enter feedback on the Athletic Department Operations. Here is what I submitted.
I understand that my opinion is biased due to the fact that I am a Miami fan, however, are there any checks or evaluations of the type of officiating that took place today throughout the Miami vs. Maryland game. It did not appear to reflect the values of fair play and integrity that the conference espouses as its foundation. I find it hard to believe that the incredible disparity between the two team's penalty yardage is due solely to Miami's inability to play within the rules.

Agreed, it's incredibly obvious.

Man these reporters are so slick and stupid. Miami just can't enjoy there win without a stupid question. One reporter asked Lamar Miller was he SOREEEEEEEEEEafter the game. We know where that was going. Just another case of starting some stupid sht. Then they asked about JH playing next week. The coach and the players said that the doctors have not cleared him. All I want to point out is let them enjoy this win so the coaches and players can have a positive attitude and right behaviour going into next weeks game without all this negative stuff in the papers or on TV. I know they have been underperorming, but dang let this stupid crap rest. Reporters and Miami back stabbers, please move on

Lets hope the doctors are football fans and not influenced by shalala. Morris is the future of UM. But unfortunatlly after Jacory is gone. This kid looked better than jacory and he is a freshman. Just got home ,thanks morris for making it a barable 4.5 hr ride.

Next weeks topic should be about us playing in the cold. Trust me yall Miami players cannot play in the cold worth a dam, especially if you don't play up north every other week. Remember 2 or 3 yrs ago when we went up to G-Tech in the cold and we got our butts handed to us. Remember the Wisc bowl game (Cameras focus on the team and the crowd) when our players were bundle up on the sideline like a bunch of girls in the new snugges. I notice the schedule for the next 3 yrs & it looks like we trying to schedule all of our up north oppnts before Oct 20 when it gets a little cool.

lol at nfl scout...

benjamin is fast granted...but thats all he has going for him. average blocker... decent route running... and pencil thin. oh... and he has hands like feet. dexter mccluster from ole miss would run circles around benjamin... and hes a spot duty player at best for the chiefs

Unbearable:

Your screen name speaks volumes about you.

I think I can help you...after you watched your gators play today having suffered through another Saturday of the midgets from the Wizard of Oz playing running backs and wide receivers you mistakenly typed Benjamin's name and not one of the names of your dwarf gators (No offense to you Sean Wilson and the other dwarfs out there).

You see...had you watched the Canes game today you would know that Benjamin has 5 catches for 127 yards...you would also know he made a spectacular catch in between two defenders (double coverage) of 50 yards that set up the Canes first touchdown...another day at the office for this soon to be NFL star.

PS: Yeah...uh...ummm...Dexter McCluster would run circles around Benjamin as Travis only runs a 4.2 forty, which if anyone were to believe you (and they don't!) would mean your SEC hero Dexter runs a 2.2 second forty.

I can live with Benjamin. Made some sweet moves today.

Anything else you baboons want to harp about...lmao!

Sure, Duke put up 55 on Virginia.

Fact remains, Virginia and Maryland, below average, unranked cellar dwellars of the ACC, took the Miami Hurricanes down to the final seconds... Miami wins one, loses one, which is just about right for them and where there program is right now and certain to continue to head.

50/50

good game Canes! hopefully Jacory realizes he now has compettition. Hopefully he'll step up his game because he'll be the QB nxt year.

i personally feel that without all the drive killing penaltied we would have won by much more
instead of focusing on whos stsrting and whos coaching lets focus on cutting out rhe penalties regardless of the personel.
this is what will save the season!!

Hahahahahahaha

fire randy!

Congratz Canes! Good win over a team that was rollin. Sorry about postin under one of my many alias names "I like bananas" (I do like bananas but not for eating) and making ridiculous arguments about Duke putting up numbers against Virginia. UNC beat FSU today too. Who cares?

I gotta run now. I DVR'd the gator game. Can't wait to see Chris "Where's my dinner b**ch" Rainey in action again. Thank you Urban for turning a blind eye to bad behavior once again.

for freshman to come in and perform that way is great. good job, keep the momentum, never let up.

maryland is not a cellar dwellar. They have as much chance to win the acc as fsu, ncstate and the other schools in the atlantic. Virgina is a cellar dwellar but real canes fans understand that had jacory not got hurt or morris played some before the second half they win that game. Truth is randy misjudged his need for morris this year and should of had the kid ready and didnt. Gators wins are agains the bottom feeders of the sec. Vandy and kentuck are horrible football teams. GEorgia lost to colorado. Enough said. The gators havent beat a top 25 team all year its not like they are any better then the canes. In order to get any pts scored they had to reinstate a guy who was arrested for telling his gf he would kill her. If rainey played for shannon hed be gone period hed no longer be part of this program id rather have a school with the guts to punish top notch players then the gators.

My nomination for post of the day.

Has the NCAA quietly stepped in and told officials to cutdown on the reviews coming from the official up in the press box?

I believe in our game today there was only one review, which typically the officials review damn near every positive play the Canes have.

Additionally, watching several other games today and tonight I also noticed that reviews from the box seemed to be considerably less than in past weeks and seasons.

Maybe this is all in my imagination or maybe it's the 16 beers with that quart of scotch chaser or it could be my daily electro shock therapy or maybe I'm actually right about this or maybe it's the Xanax or the Ecstasy or the Crank or the...

you are just a wierd dude. seriously.

You're a troll...a hater...you not only squat on this site, but you visit other UM sites for the sole purpose of agitating and picking fights with other Canes fans who dare to speak positively of their team.

In my case you saw an opening because of my praise of Travis so you try to belittle a kid that is a great player and an even greater human being. So, I guess you think that makes you the big man on campus...a real hero!

Well, you and I both know the caliber of person you are...kids like Travis and others are so far out of your depth the best you can do is hide behind a computer screen and call them names because that temporarily makes you feel better about your life, which is sad, pathetic and without substance.

"next week they play against another very tough opponent so don't lose hope."

Posted by: Bull Gator | November 06, 2010 at 08:58 PM

So an unranked Georgia Tech is a "Very tough" team huh ?

I guess when Ur also unranked with Ur program springing leaks every other week, G.T. could be miraged into seeming like a very tough opponent between two underachiving average teams.

And don't forget to tell us all about how, during S. Florida week, they are an up n coming "very tough" opponent, after sucking earlier in the season.

It must be the beer and scotch, I get it.

clear Berry !!!

It could be worse...we could have scheduled only 4 away games and played teams like Miami of Ohio, Vanderbilt and Appalachin State. We could have 35 felony arrests and play a felon who just threatened to murder a yong girl and our coach could be transported too and from games wearing a straight jacket in a portable rubber room and Emiit Smith could have beatch slapped our school during his NFL Hall of Fame induction speech and openly tell people he wished he had played for our competitor (Miami)and we could have our whole freshmen class trying to mutiny and our commitments all backing away because of the NCAA investigation we are currently embroiled in and we could have lost to a team at home that doesn't have the forward pass in their offense and we could be playing in a stadium that is a septic tank.

So, yes, it could be worse!

And, oh by the way, I get the banana remark aimed at Randy, but will cut you some slack knowing your ilk thinks a gourmet meal is cooking up 5 day old road kill on the hibachi bolted to the rear bumper of your 50 year old pick-up truck that you and your toothless illegal alien common law wife have to hide down the block from your trailer so it won't be repossesed by Billy Bob's Bail Bonds, Tattoo Parlor and Toe Nail Fungus Center. Go Gators!

U whiney lil Cane beeyotchs are always complaining about how the refs have it out for duh U. IT WAS A FACEMASK before the fumble! All be it for a .5 second tickytack and 5 yard incedental one. The T.E. trucks Spence's terribly executed jam and as 31 is going down, he gets a left finger on the bottom of the mask and tugs on it (which is a good play to grab, or the collar of the shoulder pads for a second to hold him up). The kids head goes down and then pops back up. The side judge was right there and saw it clearly. That was NO phantom call U babies. But the world is out to get da big bad u huh ? Lemme axe u this cane fan, are all those false starts, blocks in the middle of the back, hands full of jersey grabbing holding, lining up wrong and mixup timeouts all the refs fault as well ? Face it, ur team is 118 out of 120 teams in penalties. That's all the refs right ? Enough with the woe is me whining. UR AN UNDISCIPLINED DUNB FOOTBALL TEAM ! And that falls directly on Captain Clueless's shoulders period. But he's as dumb a coach as u are typical blinder wearing homer sad fans.

Cry me a river cane fan as u lose 3 out of ur next 4 and a crappy December bowl game in Boise. But it was "the man" that kept u down and held u back right ?

The problem with RS (and I hate to say it) is that he wasn't ready to be head coach at the U. He thought that they could still win games by just doing there game plan and nott worrying enough about the competition. He was wrong, you have to come up with schemes that beat the opponent. The mindset at Miami is still that their atheletes are good enough to beat the man in front of them, but that doesn't work when the opponent is close to them athleticallly and they know what the U is doing. On offense and definitley defense, they are too predictable.
I mean, how about trying the wildcat or going to four wide outs and kill teams with 5-8 yard slants. Anything that is different frm your tendency, But no...., the U. has to play the standard pro set offense most of the time, and teams know how to defend it.
The other major problem with RS is that he hasn't figured out how to motivate the players for a whole game, or to play against weaker teams. I believe if he had been a head coach first at a smaller scholl or a school that was not expected to win most of its games, he would truly have learned what it means to coach-up his team and prepare them to play mentally every game.
Because right now, they only seem to play well when they are under pressure, they can't string together 3 or more good series on Offense or Defense. Its almost as though they make a good play, and think the game is over b/c the other team will quit... but they never do, but the guys from Miami lose focus, right after they make a great play... (i.e., penalty, or get beat by a guy that they have been manhandling...)
Finally, the fact that all of the QB's have thrown a bunch of Int's proves that that is a system/scheme/coaching problem. RS/Whipple have not convinced the QB's that they cannot throw Ints. You have to make sure that your man is open or throw the ball to where only he can get it. Whipple has not made ball security a premium. Look, JS has 10+ Ints in 8 games, WhippleJr had 2 Int's in 2 quarters, and SM has 4 Ints in just 2 games, that means that they have a system failure. Especially with the talent that we have at WR, no excuse for that many Int's. As good as Whipple is, and he is better than the first O.C., he is definitely lacking...

But Shannon seemed to be more upset with the officials.

``Don't get me started,'' Shannon said. ``The last two weeks, we've had 22 penalties. The other team has had about five.''

UM has been flagged 22 times in its past two games. Their opponents -- Virginia (11) and Maryland (7) -- have combined to draw 18 penalties.

manny
.

Not only can this forked tongued lying moron not speak, but apparently he can't count either ...

But he has a University of Miami Degree . If he puts it on his car's dashboard, he can get all those nice right up front hanicapped parking spaces

You're a joke. Stop with the personal shots jerk. You're no Harvard grad yourself. And even if you were, what better coaching job could you do? Right...blank space.

I'll be more impressed when RS gets in Whipple's mug and tells him that we are a run first and run for effect team!

CaneInVA:

Good points. I don't know why we don't try more spread formations, it just doesn't make sense. I can see certain new things we are trying to do on offense, but all within the pro set.

I think they want to keep it basic so that players don't make mistakes. C'mon, this is year 2 under this system.

were not making the most of tge talent we have. harris isnt a pro stlye qb. morris fits better into wipples offense. this is shannon playing favorites. explain why streeter thonpson johnson cain and many other cant get on the field. our middle lb sucks. move him back to outside and let cain play. this is all coaching and shannon really sucks

While looking through the Baltimore Rag I found something interesting. Apparently limited wins are ok with other schools in the ACC. Check this out from the Baltimore sun.

"After last season, Debbie Yow, who was then Maryland athletic director, said that seven wins would be a "reasonable" goal for head coach Ralph Friedgen, whose job security had been uncertain. Friedgen and the Terps have three more regular-season games to try to get their seventh win. Yow is now athletic director at N.C. State."

I guess this could be one of the many reasons why our conference is experiencing parody.

There no doubt Shannon has favorites.

Damien Berry, Jacory Harris, and Colin McCarthy are a few.

I love Coop, but his carries not to go to Clements.

Should go to Clements*

enlighten us all please...

show me 1 post where i have said anything personal about benjamin. i simply stated that i did not think he was an elite player...and has no nfl future.

seriously dude... get some self esteem and dont take things so dayum personal. itll be alright...i promise

The reason we have so many penalties is because U, shannon, do a pathetic job of coaching the kids on the little things. Now you are blaming the officials, U are without a doubt the stupidest, whiniest, moronic head coach in Major College Football. It is your fault that we get so many penalties. If my team kept making bone head mistakes like that I would be on them until it was corrected. Now you want to bench Morris if Harris is healthy. Good so U can go ahead and lose the final three games and we can get rid of U once and for all.

Wonder how bad the medical staff wants to win. IF harris doesn't play, that says the know what foots the bill on their medical facilities, the football team. yeah randy U better not say what U wanted to cause you know Shamu Shalala will bend U over her knee and spank U for being a bad stooge.

Robo cane- you mean "parity" not parody.

The streak is alive people: 131 consecutive weeks in the NFL with a former cane scoring a TD:

mcGahee
Olsen
Jimmy Graham
Shockey
Roscoe Parrish

Where are our TDs, Whipple? Where is the TE in this offense?

It's time to stop blaming the coaches for every mistake these kids make. The coaches are not playing the game. Either it's lack of focus or trying to hard to make a play. Oh by the way, some of those calls are not good calls by the official. For some reason, they hold a different standard when it comes to Miami players!!!!

Lack of focus is due to poor coaching. What its time to do is quit making excuses for our poor coaching staff. I agree some calls were not good ones but a team this talented should not have to come from behind to a team like Maryland or lose to a team like Virginia. Officials make some good calls and some bad ones but that is no excuse for the way we have played under shannon.

I don't think we can ever stop blaming the coaches. We have a lot more talent than Maryland and won a close one.

We didn't exactly beat Virgina Tech yesterday.

Stephen Morris - starter
Jacory Harris - backup

@fear the ibis: add javarris james to that list. great job

Yeah these people act like we really did something yesterday. All we did was be out coached and out played for more than 3qtrs and a half. Then had to rely on last minute drive to get a win against a team we should beat by 30 easily. This is the most inept pathetic coaching display in college football. All that great talent is going to waste. That is the sad part of the whole situation.

Morris is good, Miller is a gamebreaker.

I wonder how good Storm Johnson is...he must be a superstar if Randy doesn't want to use him.

Blah, blah, blah, blah...

You're the big mouth bellowed how bad North Carolina is as a team and if the Canes didn't beat them by 30 points it would be like a loss. Then, this same team you knew so much about (North Carolina) went into Tallahassee yesterday and beat the Seminoles.

Yesteday the Canes beat a good Maryland team using a 4th string freshmen QB and our starting running back also out with injury not to mention the outrageous calls by the officials and you say that's nothing and we should have beaten the Terrapins by 30 points.

You may have some talents that are not apparent by what you constantly post on this site, but understanding college football or reality are not on the list.

I agree with some of the above: there are people not playing he should be. but, again, RS is at best a good DC.

Why not let former players on the field? Where in the heck is Aldarius Johnson, who was All-Everything at NW? We have no true linebackers, I say go back and get A. brown, and try a second time for Bryce, he'd be good with Miller.

And U have an understanding of college football or reality? HA!!!!!!!!!
Thats a good one, the reality oh blind one is that if we had a real head coach who knew what he was doing we would have beaten an average at best Maryland team on our field by 30. Also had we had a real coach we would have beaten a UNC team that played with 2 freshman cornerbacks as well as other countless 2nd and 3rd teamers by 30. Oh would U like to take a gander at what happened to us when we played Virginia, oh I forgot we lost Harris. Got a newsflash for u we would not have come back like we did had Harris stayed in the game. DO you really want to talk about the Florida State game and Shannon's incompetence in that blowout we suffered? Yeah that was the same Seminoles that AZZraped us and they got beat by UNC. SO that tells us all what we need to know about shannon's coaching prowess and your knowledge of College Football.
Oh and get used to it.

Morris is good, Miller is a gamebreaker.

I wonder how good Storm Johnson is...he must be a superstar if Randy doesn't want to use him.

Posted by: Canesjunkie | November 07, 2010 at 06:11 PM

Lmao!!! yea and same goes with kendal thomkins, cain, #82TE, brandon linder(hes better than #63 at C), etc... Shannon is pathetic. He doesnt even get our players drafted anymore(J.James and Sam sheilds)

Randy Shannon is the Wade Phillips of college football. L O S E R

Just watched the replay of the game. Morris was great on the final drive and I like his mobility and strong arm. Despite the pick six, he did a good job for his first start. The running game was great but way too many holding penalties that killed so many drives. Penalties are a huge issue with this team and it is not getting better. You have to blame coaching for all the penalites every single game. Tough to win when you have first or second and twenty on almost every drive.
I am not a big fan of Shannon because this team is so inconsistent. You have no clue what is going to happen play to play and game to game. However, people on this blog need to wake up to the reality of the current state of college football. There is a lot of parity in the game and tons of teams have just as much talent as the canes. This is not going to change regardless of the coach. Just look at this past weekend as an example of how there are not many dominant teams anymore. Oklahoma and Missouri lost to non-ranked teams and Nebraska barely beat Iowa State. There are maybe five really good teams in the game right now. What do they all have in common? A GREAT QB. QB's are the key to a great college football team. Just look at Auburn. Look at Florida without Tebow and Texas without McCoy. They are not great teams anymore. Are Urban Meyer and Mac Brown no longer good coaches? No. They are getting average play from their QB's. The reality is the canes have not had a great QB since Dorsey and it has shown in their record. If this team can somehow limit the mistakes and penalties, they do have the talent to win out. This last away game at Georgia Tech is a big one for Shannon.
